You can hit on us, but you can't score.

Today was the first day of club practice and I'm excited yet sad at the same time. Mya and I arrived to practice thirty minutes early so we can set up. Mya texted the rest of the girls to make sure to get to practice at least fifteen minutes early. We got messages back immediately, Marcey, Liana, and Miracle are five minutes away, while Ali is gonna be five minutes late. I rolled my eyes. This is not a good way to start off the season.
We got the nets set up and the rest of the girls began showing up; even Carter was on time.
I slid on my knee pads and shoes and stood up. I scrunched up my face.
"Man, what smells like somebody's coochie?" Mya called out. I laugh she has no chill what so ever.
"I was just thinking that." Carter said laughing.
"Sorry, that's my knee pads you're smelling." Miracle said sniffing them.
"Girl, it's been a nice young minute since we've played volleyball. How haven't you had the time to wash your knee pads?"
Miracle shrugged her shoulders, "I don't know, but I'll wash em when I get home."

Practice started five minutes ago and Ali still isn't here. The only good thing is that Fred is our coach this year. I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw him walk through those doors.
We just got done with warm ups and right now we're waiting on Fred to get off the phone, so we can start. Just as Fred walked back in the gym, Ali showed up—with Adam and Aaron. I rolled my eyes and fixed my headband.
"Cook, you're late!" He wrote something on his clipboard.
"Sorry Fred it won't happen again."
He mumbled something under his breath then set his clipboard down, "Alright ladies I need two people on the court, we're gonna play Crash n Burn!" We all groaned.
"What's Crash n Burn?" One of the new girls asked me. I think her name was Kailah.
"It's when you have two people on the court and the coach can either hit or throw the ball at you and both you and your partner has to touch it in order for it to count." I explain. She looks a little nervous, "Would it help if we were partners?"
"Oh my gosh yes!" I laughed and dragged her to the middle of the court.
"Alright, you two ready?" Fred slapped the ball and we nodded our heads getting low, "Okay, you need ten touches!"
He tossed the ball low to me. I dove towards the ball getting it back up, but not enough for Kailah. But to my surprise she touched it.
"One!" I heard the girls count. We quickly got back up and got ready for the next ball. This time Fred threw it across the gym.
Kailah groaned and sprinted for it. I followed but I stayed closer to the court. She swung her arms, passing it back to me so I can touch it.
"Two!" I mentally rolled my eyes.
This is going to take forever.

Many floor burns and bruises later, practice was finally over. I got home around 8:15 and I was extremely tired, but I knew that I had homework and I had to finish some college applications.
"Izzy! You obviously didn't check which schools use and don't use the Common App" My mom huffed. "USC and XULA are on there" My mom was now eyeing me.
I looked at her, "Sorry, I've just been busy trying to get everything together."
"Well, while you're getting your shit together, you need to constantly double-check everything. We can't have any errors." My mom hardly swears, so when she does I know she's dead serious.
We're currently looking at colleges to apply for and most of my choices aren't apart of the Common App. I don't see why the difference matters because regardless of whether they are on there or not, I have to pay for them all.
My mom sighed, "Look, I'm sorry. I don't want to stress you out about this... I'm just stressed out about it. My baby is growing up. Soon you're gonna be graduating high school, and then college, and then married with kids..." She started to tear up. Oh god, please don't do this tonight. I thought. "Anyways," She sniffed. "You should get started on it. You need at least five submitted applications done by next week." She said as she walking off.
I groaned. I hate senior year.
