Chereads / Werewolf Huntress / Chapter 8 - Eight

Chapter 8 - Eight

"How did you escape them?" He finally asked.

Alexia glared at him. This guy was a thinker. His thoughts went far. So all these while he remained quiet, he had been thinking about how she could have escaped them. Was he perhaps suspecting her? Alexia asked herself but she pushed the thought away.

"That is true. Ryan has a point. How did you escape them? If these werewolves are as strong as my father claims then you couldn't have been able to escape them," Damon joined in.

It seemed to ring a bell in all their heads and everyone in the room turned their heads to Alexia as they waited for her to explain.

"I didn't escape. They let me go," She finally spilled. She knew this was going to cause questions to arise in the room but she was stuck and she had no choice.

"Why would they let you go? They've been killing every other creature they found on their path. Why is it different with you?" Draco questioned.

Zedicus played with his fingers as his mind thought up different scenarios in his head.

"Maybe it has something to do with the prophecy," Nessa suggested and the rest of the group seemed to buy the idea.

Except of course, Alexia. She was completely blank.

"What prophecy?" She asked.

"Oh, so you also don't know. I guess I'm not the only one who's been kept in the dark," Damon scoffed.

Zedicus sighed as he realised every other person in the room was waiting for him to tell the prophecy, again.

"In the times when the light goddess was revered and the worship of the devil was a taboo, a prophecy was given to the sisters of light a thousand years ago," Zedicus began for the second time. "A second-chance mate shall be given to the one stained with blood. Together the realms of both worlds shall remain but apart it shall be chaos. True forgiveness and blood can this oath be broken, kept aside consequences be damned then all shall be free," he concluded.

Alexia stared in confusion. She had never been this confused in all her life. She suddenly felt as if she knew nothing about the world she had been living in. What was really going on?

"What oath?" Alexia asked.

"Ah, Alexia, the questions you ask provoke a tale from the past," Zedicus chuckled.

"So tell it? I need to know what is happening and you all seem to be staring at me like I'm a big part of this prophecy," Alexia pushed on.

Zedicus raised his hands up in the air as a sign of surrender. "Do you know who the Light Goddess is?" Zedicus asked.

Alexia nodded her head. "She is our creator. The eternal blue flame that burns forever. From figments of her eternal flames were all mythical creatures as well as humans born. She is known by many names by each of the creatures. The werewolves know her to be the Moon goddess. Witches and warlocks know her to be the Enchantress of Light. Vampires know her to be the blood mother. Hunters know her by her eternal name, the Light Goddess," Alexia explained.

"I see Aaron did a good job in lecturing you about our past and lineages," Zedicus chuckled.

"You were getting at something," Alexia reminded him.

"Oh yes, I was going to explain what the oath was," Zedicus said smiling, then he continued. "A prophecy was revealed to the sisters of the Light Goddess and eternal flame. This was a thousand years ago. Even before the world was broken as you claim. It didn't make sense to the sisters then because they didn't think that the creatures could ever fall apart," Zedicus explained.

Alexia listened as her entire being was engrossed in it. Everyone listened to everything Zedicus had to say.

"So the sisters made an oath to scare the creatures from ever separating and hating one another. Should they fall apart then doom would befall all creatures. Chaos would break out and there would be no peace. The oath was made over the power of the eternal blue flame. Little did they know that they had begun the signs that would lead to the fulfillment of the prophecy," Zedicus narrated.

"So you mean to say that we wouldn't have been in this situation if the oath hadn't been made?" Alexia asked.

"Whether we accept it or not, the prophecy would still have come to be. The sisters had tried to stop it from happening but they had unknowingly put the prophecy into play. They had aided in carving a path for the prophecy," Zedicus explained.

"What caused the hatred to begin? Who broke the world?" Alexia asked.

"I feel as if you're trying to find who to put the blame on. Pasting the blame on a particular species is not going to change anything. We are all to blame for this. We all had a hand in the falling apart of her, our worlds, our realms," Nessa said after being in silence for a long time.

"So what you mean to say is that this second-chance mate and her werewolf lover can restore the world?" Alexia asked.

"Yes! Now you're beginning to understand, child," Draco exclaimed in relief as he had gotten tired of all Alexia's questions.

"Well good luck on finding this second chance mate. You better find her soon," Alexia said as she started to get on her feet.

Draco stared at her in disbelief. Just when he had thought she had finally understood, she pulled another one on them again.

"Where do you think you're going?" Draco asked.

Every other person stared at her in disbelief. All their mouths were left agape. Except, of course, Damon. He chuckled. He found her amusing. It was a relief that she wasn't coming after him. He didn't want anything to do with a Hunter's daughter. Not just any Hunter's daughter but a Huntress. The Moon goddess was really playing a big trick on him.

"I'm going back home, that's where. You think I want to sit down here all day? It's no longer a half moon. I have no reason to be here. Dad, aren't we going to leave?" She retorted.

Her own parents also stared at her in disbelief. They knew they had a stubborn daughter but they didn't realise to what extent.

"You are the mate, Alexia. The second-chance mate," Greg said. "You can't leave. You have to find a way to work this out. Only you both can save us now."

"I honestly do not know what you're talking about. But I do know that I'm nobody's mate. Especially not a werewolf's. A werewolf who led an attack on my grandparents who had nothing but good intentions in their minds! They wanted to reunite everyone but your son murdered them in cold blood! You think I want to even breathe the same air as he does? You must be kidding me!" She exclaimed in anger. She felt the raw anger burning her.

She couldn't stand them anymore. All she wanted was to leave. To get back to the comfort of her home. She already had a rough night and all the new information was beginning to cause a migraine in her head.

"We understand you are angry child, but you have to let him in. It's for the good of all the creatures," Nessa tried to plead with her.

"I don't seem to understand why you're pleading with a Huntress mom! Have you forgotten these same people murdered my mate? I also don't want anything to do with them! I want nothing! I can't stand the thought of a Huntress in my bed!" Damon roared.

"The feeling is mutual, big guy! I can't stand you too!! I'm sure my hatred for your species is well known!!!" Alexia spat.

"Arguing like children won't help anyone. In the end, you'll give in to him. The prophecy never lies," Draco cut in.

"I listened carefully and your so-called prophecy never said I would give in in the end. It said only true forgiveness and blood will the oath of doom befalling us all be broken! So I can choose not to forgive!" Alexia corrected.

"So you've accepted that it speaks of you both in the prophecy?" Zedicus cut in.

"I—I didn't say that. I didn't—" Alexia stuttered as she was at a loss for words.

Zedicus only chuckled. He had succeeded in playing with her mind once again. Alexia gritted her teeth in anger as she understood what he had done.

"Do whatever you want, child. But know that all your actions have consequences. Whatever you choose to do, the consequences will come crashing over you," Zedicus warned.

"Are you indirectly telling me to choose to be with Damon?" Alexia pointed out.

Damon spat on the ground in disgust. This showed just how much he didn't want to be beside the Huntress.

"Who am I to tell you want to do?" Zedicus said as he smiled and raised his hands up in the air in surrender. "Only you can choose to do whatever you can. I just hope you choose to do the right thing."
