Chapter 26 - Changes

"Do you have the dragon familiar?!" Leonhard asks excited. It was rare to see a dragon and even rarer to come back alive to tell the tale.

Licht tilts his head to the side, "You've already seen it." he states. Leonhard frown and takes on a faraway look. After a few seconds, he visibly brightens.

"Was that it?! I didn't take a good look at it before! Can you bring him out?!" Licht nods his head and calls for Draywein using telepathy.

'I'm not going.' He states.

Licht gave a cynical chuckle, 'I don't think you have a choice.' he snarled back. Draywein shivered but held his ground. 'Fine, be like that.'

"Wait a moment, please." He urged his family.

With this skill, a tear was cut open in the fabric of space and in it was darkness. Pitch black, with nothing in it. Lyra, William and Gerald stare, astonished at the very existence of the skill. And both twins stare at it in awe.

Licht shoves his hand in and flails it in the empty space before coming in contact with rough scales. Draywein yelps as he tries to escape from Licht's reach, but before he can Licht grabs him by his neck. Giving it a good squeeze, Licht drags him out and drops him on the floor with a huff.

"This is my familiar," he points. "His name is Draywein."

"Woah!!" Roslyn gasps as she and Leonhard stroked and praised Draywein. They fawn over him and Licht watches as Draywein's head inflates from the praise.

"Why is it so small?" Lyra asked. She had never seen a real dragon before, but from what she had heard, it was supposedly larger than a building.

"Ah. About that..." Licht begins as he gave Draywein a quick glance. "I took a lot from his power during the contract process, so he had to start leveling from scratch."

William chuckles nervously and Lyra tilts her head in thought, "B-but aren't contractors supposed to share the power equally? The stronger you are, the higher the percentage, right?" William asks nervously.

"Precisely." Licht answers nonchalantly.

William strokes his forehead with a sigh. He could no longer deny it. Gerald walks to his father and places a hand on his shoulder. He glances at both parents and nods at them both.

"Licht." Gerald began; it was a first seeing Gerald being so serious. "You know, we always knew there was something different about you. If you hadn't told us all this, we wouldn't have treated you differently." He says passionately.

"Sure." Licht says uninterested. The mood had already passed long before, and the speeches soon became irritating to him.

"Ehh!~ Don't be like that! ~" Gerald whines as he stalks towards Licht. Licht holds his palm out as he passes Gerald a fierce glare.

"As long as you don't get yourself in trouble....and you do what is expected of you." Lyra mentions, though Licht has a look of disbelief.

"I'm not a different person, you know." He reminds her, but she still looks doubtful. "But still…" she begins but soon trails.

Licht sighs and gives a small nod, "Fine. And I'm working on something, so I would like if no-one interrupted me. I will come out at my own time."

"Finally." Licht grumbles out relieved. After finding out shape shifting was possible, Licht worked all night to make himself taller. He didn't mind his face or his looks, no. What annoyed him was the fact that he still looked like a 5-year-old child!

Licht twists as he takes a full view in his mirror, giving a satisfied huff. Without the actual shape-shifting skill, he was only able to perform this magic once. And because he was so concentrated on his height, he ignored all his other features. Though, he didn't mind.

He walks out from the bathroom, and dresses himself up. His outfit was a white shirt and black pants, plain and simple. Though, what caught all the attention was the brooch that had the family crest embedded into it. It also had a unique mana type and wave, making it so that no-one could try to replicate it.

Licht walks out of his room, making a quick detour to the kitchen since he had missed his breakfast. He swipes a loaf of bread and heads to the training ground where his father and siblings were waiting for him.

Licht hears a deep laugh echo as he makes it, "He's still here?" Licht mumbles to himself. Licht jogs into the wide space, and greets his father with a bow. William glances at Licht and gives a nod, but says nothing afterward. Licht looks up, 'Has he not realized yet?'

William was still giving orders to the knight under his custody, so it was a giving that he was too distracted to notice. After half an hour, "Okay! We're done here, it's time for the juniors!"

A bunch of children from ages 10-12, and 14 in all, walk towards the center of the courtyard. William glances at each of his new students and counts them silently. He had counted a total of 15, but he still couldn't find Licht. After a few tries, he calls Leonhard forward.

"Have you seen Licht today? He said he will be in time for practice?"

"Now that you mention it..." Leonhard begins as he soon gets lost in thought.

Upon hearing all this, Licht frowned. 'They seriously didn't recognize me?' He raises his hand high catching William's attention. After getting permission to speak, "I didn't know that my height was such an important part of me."

"Huh?" William questions in a state of confusion.

"I'm the one you've looking for. Isn't that right, father?"
