The ride to the church was awkward at the very least. Licht could see the resent meant in his step-siblings' eyes, they practically said, 'Go die'. Licht had just recently found out their names. Earlier, he had no interest, and he also had the excuse of being young but that wasn't the case anymore. He couldn't stretch it that far.
Roslyn and Leonhard (Licht's step-siblings) were both twins. They shared everything together, some would even say they had the same ideals, dreams, and feelings. Yet, they had been unfortunate enough to receive different occupations on their coming of age. They were devasted, their future plans had been ruined. Looking at Licht, the black sheep in their eyes, they wished that his fate would be much worse than theirs.
They had only gotten used to being with Lyra when Licht showed out of nowhere. And suddenly, their mother wasn't paying attention to them anymore, it was always 'Licht this' or 'Licht that'. They were sick of it. They tried their best to earn Lyra's love, but Licht was always one step ahead and ruining their plans, albeit unintentionally. But they didn't know that, nor did they care. They just wanted him gone.
The trip was long, four and a half hours in a carriage. They got off at the entrance and Licht had to crane his neck upward to get a full view of the huge and unfamiliar building. As they walked inside, Licht mentally cringed. The inner church was colored white, in every nook and cranny and it was very uncomfortable to look at. It was literally blinding. In the rows of chairs sat many children, some with family members and some without. Some with rags and some in silk. All of the children, however, were in the same age group as Licht was.
This helped Licht realize how much of a fool he had been. Why you ask. Well, because Licht had believed that everyone had it good since magic was around to make everyone's life much easier, but it was naïve of him to think like that. There was no difference between Earth and whatever the hell this world was called. No one is the same, equality and fairness is a dream and poverty is everywhere.
Thoughts like this bothered Licht, but he could not help but compare this world with Earth in his past life. It was scarily similar. The priest came out and started a prayer, startling Licht who was in thought. The prayer was short, and families that attended were expected to pay a fee for attendance which will be used to maintain the church of the god of creation Lathos.
Licht closed his eyes and breathed in deeply; he was determined to not make a scene. He didn't know why, but Lathos pissed him off to no end. The nobles were the first to be blessed. After the blessing, the children are to touch a smooth transparent glass ball and the status will be displayed to everyone.
It was Licht's turn. He was not nervous per se, but rather he was hesitant to touch the ball. Lyra stared at her son in confusion. Is there a reason he is so on edge, she wondered. She had never seen Licht like that, on the outside he seemed fine but from the little twitching in his finger she could tell something was wrong.
Licht placed a palm on the ball and his head span for a few seconds. He stood his ground and less than a second later a voice echoed in his head.
"What the hell?!! What did you do? I can't even tell if you're human anymore! Are you-" The god of Creation, Lathos yelled but he soon came to a stop? He looked down from the Celestial realm and recognized the familiar blank face.
"Or you can do whatever you want. I don't mind." He called out calmly. He didn't want to remember the great blunder he had created and he needed to get on the kid's good side. He didn't want anyone to know about what had happened.
Murmuring brought Licht out of his inner cursing session. He looked up at the larger holographic version of his status and really wanted to facepalm himself. He had expected this but experiencing it didn't make him feel any better. His glitchy status was exposed to the world. He looked back at his family, his mother had tears in her eyes and both palms were over her mouth and nose. His father looked aloof, but with a closer look, you could see the slight wrinkle on his forehead. And Rosyln and Leonhard, both had a satisfied look painted all over their face like they had hoped this would happen.

The ride back home was even more awkward than the last. No-one said a word, like the last trip. They all need time to soak in all that had happened. After two hours, the coach of the carriage knocked on the wooden carriage hastily.
"M-master, all the knights ahead have encountered orcs and the orcs are pushing forward even as we speak!" He informs in a panic. William looked at Lyra and nodded. They had prepared for this; the roads were never safe after all. William Got out of the carriage and rushed into the battle. He got there and almost threw up from the sight, with his experience with monsters, he could tell that the scene in front of him was not a battle but a massacre. There was blood and fallen knights everywhere, and a few orcs were already approaching the carriage. They needed reinforcements.
He turned to the coachman but saw nothing but an empty space. William swore under his breath and growled in frustration. He had no way to get reinforcements, he was low on knights and he was against an orc village of about 10. After cutting down some of the orcs approaching the carriage, he went to help the soldiers that were struggling.
In the carriage, Licht sat all aloof and sensed the 'massacre' using [Detection Magic]. The original form was [Detect] but Licht had created other aspects of the skill and created a new type of magic. He watched his father cut down the orcs with reasonable difficulty. Though it was to be expected, an average orc was at least 5 meters tall and the width was also proportionate.
He also wondered why his father had not used the item storage function on the system. He had seen his father pull out a sword from a hidden contraption under the chair he had sat on. Licht had but one possible solution. The old geezer had really buttered him up. Having these special functions could help him greatly, but could also be a huge pain.
The ground shook slightly as an orc approached the door of the carriage, and everyone but Licht froze up in fear. Lyra's hands shook, it had been so long since she had fought, she couldn't remember what to do in situations like these. The two twins both held one another and shook in fear, they had thought hunting and leveling would be fun but what they were experiencing was anything but fun. Seeing that no-one was making a move to kill the monster, Licht took the responsibility upon himself. He had promised that he will protect his family, and he wasn't one to break his promise.
He stood up, but at the same time, the door of the carriage was ripped off its hinges. Licht saw the ugly face of the orc and frowned in disdain. Licht walked casually to the opening, with his left hand in his pocket and shoved the other clean through the head of the orc.
With blood splattered over his dress shirt, trousers and hair, Licht looked down at the dead orc with his cold blue eyes.
"Atone for your sins, for you have sinned and you have put my family in unnecessary danger."
