Thanksgiving was on the way and Zaynella had made plans to celebrate with her parents. She had called them saying she would visit home with her friends and they were expectant of the people their daughter would bring.
Cheryl knocked and got in after she received an affirmation from her boss.
" Miss Zy its done, I have asked them to send it to the restaurant as you asked".
"Thanks Cheryl, you can take tomorrow off to prepare for Thanksgiving ", Zaynella smiled at her secretary.
"Thanks Miss Zy". "You are welcome".
Cheryl smiled as she walked to her office. She have been working for Zaynella since she became the director of the company and she was proud of the lady. She has proven her worth over time despite her young age. Not only her, even the workers were pleased to be working with her.
Zaynella glanced at her watch. She needed to get to the Restaurant before Lionel and Kelvin returned. To surprise the young man, she had decided to celebrate his birthday at the restaurant with the workers and their venue was the worker's room. She have had them decorate it. She have ordered for a cake and gift.
Before she left for the office earlier that day, she had made new recipes for the young man's birthday. After all he was turning eighteen today venturing into adult hood and she wanted it to be an affair for him to remember since he wasn't going to celebrate it with his grandma for the first time.
Looking at her clock again, she stretched her self as she got up. She was feeling cramps having been working since so as not to have extra work left before Thanksgiving. She was planning to take the day off tomorrow and get ready. She have also promised Kelvin that she would attend his basketball game.
After packing up her things, she made a call to Peter her office driver to pick her up. She have been given a company car but she rarely drive it. As a director she was meant to have one. But she only use it on occasions where she was left with no other options like now.
Few minutes later the young man was there and they drove off. She have dismissed Cheryl early so she wasn't around. Getting to the restaurant, she alighted from the car and as usual made her way inside the restaurant through the back door.
Once inside, she quickly gathered the workers and together they planned on how to celebrate the birthday party, after which they dispersed and went back to their respective work.
Lionel and Kelvin arrived just on time. Once they got inside, after necessary pleasantries, Lionel blindfolded Kelvin as instructed and led him to the venue of the party.
Like expected, the birthday party went well. Kelvin who was over whelmed with emotion cried happily. He received gifts from everyone. After the celebration at the restaurant, they drove to the hospital so as to involve Kelvin's grandma in the celebration as well.
Days flew by with great speed and soon it was a day to thanksgiving. Zaynella woke up very early, excited to see her parents. She wanted to make dessert to take home. It has been a while since she visited home and she missed her parents. She has been so busy trying to cater for the family and rarely had time to go home. Zaynella's parents have gotten in a car accident when she was about to graduate elementary school, that had left a big scar in the family. Not only were her parents handicapped because of the accident, she lost her sister too and almost lost her life. She had escaped by sheer miracle. But the aftermath of the accident came to attack her when she entered high school and it was at that time that she met her savior for the third
time and from then on, she had vowed to repay back owed debts. At a young age she took up the responsibility that was meant for her parents. As if the accident wasn't enough, her mother's surviving sister died two year later with her husband when they went hiking, leaving behind their four little children behind. Having no other relatives, Zaynella's parents welcomed the new family members and that meant another mouth for Zaynella to feed.
A matching heart haven't been found yet for Kelvin's grandmother, but Zaynella was willing to do anything to obtain one that would save the woman's life, she was like the grandmother she never had.
Kelvin came to the Kitchen when he was done
parking, he was dressed in black trousers with black windbreaker and white converses. He was wearing a gold chain watch that cost a lot it was a birthday gift from Zaynella including his new phone. His Bluetooth was hanging on his neck. It was a new Bluetooth a limited edition, he had been eyeing the Bluetooth for some time now but because he didn't have the money and didn't wish to disturb Zy he buried his longing. Who knew that Lionel had noticed the young man's admiration for the Bluetooth and thus spent a lot to acquire it for him on his birthday. Receiving so much love from all of them had made him shed tears happily on his birthday.
Zaynella looked at the young man who was dressed up already as he slid into the kitchen. Kelvin picked up a muffin and munched on it.
'' Where is Lionel'',
'' Warming the car up for the long journey''.
'' Since you are all set and ready help me set breakfast''.
Kelvin nodded ad he made his way to the dinning with breakfast which consists of egg tart and custard cake with hot choco.
Soon they were set to travel. Lionel was driving and Zaynella sat on the passengers seat. Kelvin sat at the back Bluetooth on. He was obviously listening to a song. A mild song was playing in the car by name Sweet victory by Trip Lee.
The drive to the outskirts of the city was a long one so at intervals, Zaynella and Lionel exchanged position, Kelvin was still being taught how to drive by Lionel so he wasn't yet in the position to drive haven't gotten his drivers license though.
After the long journey, they finally got to their destination. The house in front of them is a big bungalow, there were other houses near by, but the house they stopped in front of was not only the biggest it was also the most beautiful.
'' Is this where you grew up'', Lionel asked. He was surprised by the sheer beauty of the house.
'' Yes but it wasn't like this. I bought the land and rebuilt the house, I didn't want my parents to always move due to their condition since they didn't want to come to the city, it was the only thing I could do for them, I take if upon me to repair, repaint and renovate it every year''.
Lionel was really impressed, and he looked at Zaynella with a new light. Zaynella was barely twenty six and have achieved a great fit. Lionel couldn't help but admire the young woman. Unknown to him, His view for Zaynella took a hundred percent turn. Kelvin wasn't all that surprised by the house he had been there a couple of times. To say that he knows Zaynella's family was just an understatement, her family were actually his second family and she was like his sister.
When they alighted from the car, Kelvin carried his backpack and went up to the patio. Walking up the front door he pressed the door bell. The compound had no fence rather, flowers were used in its stead. Zaynella's mother loved flowers, so a portion of the compound was turn into a garden and filled with different kinds of flowers the sweet fragrance
filled up the compound. After a few minutes, the door was opened by a young man he was dressed in brown short and a white T-shirt. His brown hair was combed back, he has a deep blue eyes and pointed nose, if looked at closely he looked a little bit like Zaynella. The young man is Harry, Zaynella's cousin who she grew up with. A smile blossomed on the young man's face when he saw Kelvin it have been a while since he saw the young man.
'' Hi Kel long time'', Harry said engulfing Kelvin in a hug.
'' Same here Harry'', Kelvin said returning the hug. Kelvin and Harry could be considered best of friends if that was something to be asked, they got along quite well. They were almost the same with Harry being few months older. Harry happened to be Zaynella's second cousin.
After they released each other from the hug, they went to help Zaynella and Lionel take the other things inside. Seeing Lionel, Harry was shocked but was able to cover it up, his sister had never brought a guy home before, this was going to be the first. The young man had expectations but that would be destroyed when he learnt the truth.
