It was a bright day and a beautiful Saturday. Kelvin sat at the parlour a video game console in hand and a book in the other hand and a plate of chocolate chips cookies in front of him. Lionel was outside washing the car and trimming the flowers. Zaynella was preparing breakfast, she and Kelvin just finished cleaning the rooms in the house and she entered inside the kitchen to prepare breakfast which consist of fresh warm goat milk and strawberry pancakes.
The flipped the pancake in the pan and sprinkled some oil in the process.
"Kel come over here and help me set the table".
"Coming", Kelvin replied as he stood up from his position. He walked to the door leading inside the kitchen and peeped inside.
"What are you doing over there come on get in here", Zaynella said when she heard a movement at the door.
"Okay".
Kelvin got in and got him self busy helping Zaynella to set the table for breakfast, once he was done he sat down and waited for others to join him.
Lionel stepped in clad in blank shorts and a black sleeves top with a towel draped around his neck. Sweat was dripping from his face.
"Did you have a shower outside", Kelvin questioned examining Lionel.
"Exactly and it was fun", Lionel replied smirking he knew the little lad making fun of him.
Zaynella entered from the kitchen after throwing a glance at Lionel she commented.
"You're sweating buckets go wash your face and come join us for breakfast".
"Sure", Lionel replied as he made his way to the sink at the edge of the room. He hung the towel on the rack and splashed hand full of water on his face. Picking up another dry towel from the rack he dried his face and hung it back then made his way to the table to join them for breakfast. Breakfast was a quiet affair, after breakfast Kelvin volunteered to clear the dishes while the rest went to prepare for work.
The drive to the restaurant was filled chattering from Kelvin and Lionel as they discussed about sports. Zaynella was writing down a new recipe she wanted to try out today.
Getting to the restaurant they alighted from the car and entered from the back door. It was morning so people weren't much so they were able to find a parking space.
George and Kelly were making pancakes when they got in. That was what they have always made for breakfast a light dish with coffee.
"Bonsiour boss", George greeted.
"Morning boss", Kelly greeted.
"Kel, Geo how is it going", Zaynella asked acknowledging their greeting with a nod.
"We might need help business is thriving". George announced.
"Lionel will help out. I have a new dish that I want to make some am unavailable".
"Go on we're looking forward to it", Kelly replied smiling.
"I should head out and assist Michael and the rest", Kelvin announced as he came out of the locker room dressed in his work clothes with Lionel in tow.
"Sure", Zaynella replied as he exited the kitchen. Turning to Lionel she said "Help them out with breakfast I will be busy for the next few hours".
"Sure", Lionel replied walking up to Kelly and George took help them out.
Zaynella moved to the locker room to get dressed and ready for the days work.
Zaynella busied herself making new dishes and adding new style to the old dish. The other trio watched her with awe as she fumbled her and there trying to get the perfect mixture and taste. They were four new dishes in total that she was experimenting on.
Before lunch Break she was finally done and during lunch break her workers gathered to view her work.
"What is that", Grace a petite girl of twenty seven who worked as a waiter questioned pointing at the bean shaped food.
Everybody's interested were drawn to the food it look very appetizing and delicious the mere sight of the dish would make you salivate.
"That is a cashew nut", Zaynella replied a smile on her face. Many people had blank faces when the food was mentioned they were actually thinking how cashed nut was for most that haven't seen it and for those that have, they were thinking how it could be edible. As if reading their mind, Zaynella decided to explain to them. They were currently seated in the area where the workers have their own food they sat in a round table manner.
"This is the nut of the cashew fruit as i have said earlier but this time around its roasted you know how you roast stuffs after that I shelled the back leaving the edible insides then I coated it with honey and sweet sauce the left it to soak after which I cooked it then added some sweet ingridents and made a sweet syrup and spread on top of it that is how this came about. This soup was made by the same nut she said pointing at the milky white soup. This is roasted potatoes and that is a brown stuffed egg. You guys should go ahead and try it, I need evaluation before I add it to the menu."
Everybody picked their cutlery and digged into their own dish.
After taking a sip of the soup Lionel smiled and gave her a thumbs up. Kelvin cleared all his dishes in a go and looked at Zaynella with puppy eyes. She laughed and exchanged her untouched plate with his and he happily dug into it. When the plates were empty, Zaynella saw the disappointments on her workers face and to cheer the up she promised to make the dish again.
"So how is it", She didn't even need to ask because the answer were already written on their faces.
As promised, she made the dish again and packed it in disposable plastics, some of the people that came to eat were given a taste of the new dish and they requested for more but it was just a taste they were told and they eagerly asked if would be added to the menu, and when they were answered affirmatively their nervous heart were calmed down.
On their way home after work they dropped by at the hospital to visit Kelvin's grandmother.
