Chapter 34 - You Look Great!

Sarah hopped off the chair (Or as much as she could while wearing a ballgown) and walked over to Emily who was sitting on the couch. She sat down next to her, smoothing down the bottom of her dress as she sat to avoid wrinkling the dress. "Where were you? They were about to leave so I had to stall them by saying that I didn't like any hair styles they did on me. I think that this was the fourth hairstyle that they did on me. My temples are throbbing from all that hair pulling and pining." Emily said with a puff.

"Umm…" Sarah said nervously. "We were… we just-"

"Just talking to my parents." Max supplied as he walked over and sat down with them. "Sarah forgot her gloves were in my moms suitcase so we went over there to get them." Sarah shot Max a thankful look for saving her from coming up with an answer on the spot. Honestly, she didn't have one either.

"Oh, ok then. But what did they say about the dress?" Emily asked. Sarah answered this time because as the stylist had been doing her hair she had spent time thinking of a plausible answer to this question. "They said that it was a surprise for me, a gift from both my mom and Max's parents" She explained.

"Well that was nice of them. You look so beautiful by the way Sarah, doesn't she Max?" Emily complimented.

"Yep. Looks great!" Max said with a sarcastic thumbs up.

"Thank you Emily!" Sarah said. She turned to Max and gave him a slap on the arm. "Rude! I look amazing and you're just jealous that you will never be as handsome as I am beautiful!" Sarah exclaimed. Max rubbed his arm. Sarah seemed to get a lot stronger or something, that hit that was supposed to be teasing, actually hurt quite a bit... Max thought. Maye another divine skill?

"Hey! What are you guys talking about?" Alex said as he strolled up to them. He grabbed a chair and placed it next to Max but facing the wrong way. He sat down, legs on either side of the chair and placed his elbows on the top of the chair. He had an aura of cool and calm.

"We were just talking about how beautiful Sarah looks tonight!" Emily exclaimed.

Alex looked over to Sarah and said "You look really great!"

"Thanks Alex!" Sarah said. She stared at Max with narrowed eyes, "At least SOMEBODY has manners."

Max just rolled his eyes and said nothing. Emily felt a little awkward. Alex was just plain confused and Sarah was laughing at Max on the inside.

"You guys wanna play a game with us?" Somebody said as they approached. They looked up and Sarah saw a familiar looking boy. What was his name again? Sarah thought hard. Fay! Emily's sister! "Sure Fay!" Sarah replied. "What are we playing?"

"One of the maids brought Uno. I guess that is really our only choice." Fay replied.

"Uno? Count me in bro!" Emily said.

"Me too!" Alex replied.

'I'll play." Max chimed in.

"Hey man, can we play too? I think that we have tried every video game in the entire palace at this point." A small group of boys said as they walked over.

"Sure!" Fay said. He raised his voice and said, "Anyone who wants to play Uno with us is welcome!"

"Me!" "I do!" "Can I play too?" Voices chimed in from around the room. People even came out of the bedrooms to say that they wanted in. Half of the people Sarah wouldn't have even realized that she shared these rooms with.

"Well. Now what?" Fay said after the furniture had been moved to the side of the room, they all had sat in a large circle. There were 15 people playing. "Even with 3 decks of Uno cards, we would still not have enough!" Fay exclaimed.

Sarah thought for a moment then said "What about we play in teams? Each person will have a partner and they have to work together to play?"

"Sounds good! But, there are 15 of us. Not everyone will have a teammate." Fay pointed out.

"That's alright! I can just drag Tenna over here!" Emily exclaimed.

Emily ran to a room and said, "Tenna! Get your butt out here!"

Tenna opened the door and Emily successfully convinced her to play and dragged her over.

"To make the team choosing fair, how about we just team up with whoever we invited to the ball or whoever invited you to the ball. So I would be with Derek. Reachel with Gordan and so on." Somebody suggested.

Everybody nodded their heads in agreement and moved around in the circle to sit with their partners. Sarah looked around the room to see who the teams were. Emily sat next to a brown haired, hazel eyed boy. And Tenna sat next to… Alex? Who knew! Alex and Tenna were friends! Wait, did that mean that Tenna went to their school? Why had Sarah never noticed her before?

Before she could get too immersed in thought there was a small stack of cards. She fanned them out in her hand and gave a frown. Terrible hand of cards. They had at least one of each color, none of the number's were the same and zero cool cards like skip or draw two, let alone a card that could change the color. What poor luck.

Sarah shrugged it off and started playing Uno with Max. Because there were 8 teams, they played 9 rounds. Enough for each team to win once and then one team to win twice. Sarah and Max one twice but Emily and Hayden won 3 times. Alex and Tenna once and one other team with people she didn't recognize one once as well.

They all clapped at Emily and Hayden. They all bowed down to them, on their knees, foreheads pressed against the rug because they had lost the bet and that was their consequence. Emily and Hayden stood in front of them the whole time, Emily's arm linked through Hayden.

"Lunch time!" A maid said as they rang a bell. If it weren't for the billowing gown that Sarah wore, she would have been racing to the door because she was starving. She had only eaten a bit of fruit for breakfast that morning. Max helped her stand up so she didn't damage the dress.

They walked to the dining hall and sat down to eat. After a delicious meal of ham and green beans, mashed potatoes with butter, they were all sent back to their rooms.

Most of the boys went and sat around the TV. Playing some kind of game where you shoot guns at random people and fulfill tasks. Every single one of the girls went into their rooms, opened up their suitcases and grabbed their makeup bags. They all carried them out and sat where the makeup director told them to sit, each of them having their own makeup artist.

"Bag." The lady said bluntly.
