Patrick Smock? I frown at him, it seems at this moment I had no choice but to trust this man. Even though it was strange to see him out here, he seemed determined that he knew something. The monster swoops down again to attack, I pushed the man aside in time for it to miss. But somehow it's claws managed to graze me in the right shoulder. "Your Highness!" Count Rodger turned as if he was about to head in my direction. I hold my hand out to stop him and turned my attention to Patrick who was pulling himself back to his feet. "Thank you for saving me. About the monster, it's known as A Head Hawk. They are usually from the far south , but this one must have got separated from it's flock while flying due east to migrate." He explained.
I narrow my eyes, "how is it someone from a small city like this would know of this creature?" I asked him. He looked at me straight in the eyes, "because I'm not from around here. I heard about Farmer's City flourishing well as I was traveling. I arrived here a couple days ago, it was not that long since this monster tried to attack me on the way here from another city." He says. Another city? "What city?" I asked. He frowns as if in thought, the Head Hawk seemed a bit distracted as it attacked Count Rodger many times, "I need help over here!" He yells over at us.
"We will finish this after killing this beast." I tell Patrick as I turn my attention to it. "Wait, you won't be able to kill it that way!" He yells out as I swing my sword at its claws that swooped down at Rodger. I managed to slice on clean off but it grew back just as fast. "What the hell, now this is just getting ridiculous." I yell out. Patrick runs over to me and pushes me to the ground as the beast again swoops down for revenge. Luckily I threw my light magic in time at the beast as its talons almost wedged deep into his chest.
I stood and glared at him, "are you insane?! You almost committed suicide." I drew my light magic out at semi-power, it was enough magic to take down even an eight level beast. He suddenly grabs my hand, "no, this is not your ordinary beast. It's a Soul Level Head Hawk." He says. I turn to to him in utter disbelief, "did you just say...Soul level?" I asked. This was not good, a soul level beast on this side of town, just as I thought I have to kill it...and fast. We were getting out of breath, "so is there even a way to kill it?" COunt Rodger asked as the beast stood still and watched them on top of a scarcrow.
Patrick nods, "there is only one way to kill a soul level Head Hawk...and that is to strike it in the heart three times. Since the heart tends to move around a lot that would be a difficult task. The first strik would be the right of the chest after that one would have to pay close attention to where it would appear next." He explains. I stare at him as if he grew two heads, "how could you know so much about a beast you claim just attacked you not so long ago?" Count Rodger asked with a suspicious stare. "I study beasts professionally, I know a lot about many kinds and can tell you damn near almost all of their weaknesses and background stories. I'm what one would call a Beasthologist (made up). " He admits.
That about sums it up. I need this guy, he has what I lack and that's someone who could be of help in this type of department. But he had one thing wrong, once I learn a weakness it's nowhere hard for me to beat it, I could care less what level beast or human it is. My magic power makes everything easy for me to defeat once I learn about it. Now that I know it's weakness I can use my sight to track where the heart appears next after stabbing it. Just like that I took down the soul beast in a mere fifteen minutes, I stood over it's medium sized body in triumph. "Did that just happen?" Patrick asked COunt Rodger in shock. "Don't look so shocked, she's our queen after all. I learned to roll with it whenever it comes to her." He says patting Patrick's back and walking up to take a closer look at the beast.
"Look there's something shining." Lady Emily came up after noticing it from the building. They all began to surround it and also saw the shining object that suddenly seeped out of the beast's chest. "It must be the Core Heart." Patrick says as he watched in awe the shiny red jewel. I grab it and wrapped my fingers around the core. It shined even more brightly, it's magic power bursting from its shell and then the heart disappeared along with the beat. All the crops it stolen also reappeared as if never taken in the first place. How strange. The more I see the more I'm in awe with the world around me. I kind of regret never stepping out of my palace in all nintey nine of my past lives. "Thank you so much, Your Highness." The farmers of Farmer's City gushed as I made my way back to the carriage. It was time to head to Easter City next, but I think I will rest abit on the way there. Thankfully it was a two day trip from Farmer's City.
I could use the break.
