Chapter 8 - CH 8: The Gold Mine

Two days finally came, "we'll have to complete this without Castian and Mangola." I say as we stood before the gold mine. Gert steps forward and worked on taking down the first trap outside while Rock, Brim, and Femur kept watch for any intruders. It took Gert fifteen minutes to get the trap down, once down we took our first step inside the mine. Once inside I realized a few bodies lying around with arrows in them, "we should be careful there is definitely a trap around here." Brim says. "Protect the Queen." Rock orders as the group surround me and Gert proceeds to find where the trap can be unset.

"I thought I told you guys I didn't need you to protect me, I can protect myself." I say, of course they pretended not to hear me. I sigh, I shouldn't waste my breath with these guys. Gert came back after searching, "there was a hidden button, I managed to turn the trap off. Let's go." He says as we continued further inside. The deeper we went the more traps, sometimes we end up setting a few off on our way through. We came upon a gate, it was takk and iron with a few incantations on it. "what's it say, Gert?" Brim asks. Gert frowns, "I'm not sure, this is the Queen's department." He says as I lean in to take a look.

I run a finger along the strange letters and closed my eyes trying to decipher it in my mind's eye. Once I open them again I can hear a creaking sound, the gate was opening. "For those who wish to open this gate, just read the words." I say to the others as the gate now stood widee open. "Way too easy." Rock mutters. He had a point, we literally got through most this mine without any wounds, as if something was letting us through. I step towards the gate, I turn to the others once I got an inch inside. That's when I realize the others running towards me in panic, "Your Highness!" They yelled. The gate suddenly slammed closed, I turn around towards the darkness ahead. Looks like I'll have to go forward by myself.

The Four Warriors....

Rock paces back and forth, "what the hell do we do? What if something happens to the Queen?" He asks with a worried expression. Gert kept tossing magic at the gate, "dammit, why won't it budge, I even said the same incantation." Gert says as he continues throwing magic at it. "That won't work." A voice behind them startled them as they turned to find a person sitting on the ground. Why haven't they notice him? Rock grabs the guy by the collar, "who are you and why do you say that?" He asks shaking the man. Brim grabs his arm, "stop, let him speak." She says.

Rock let's him go, the man begins to laugh hysterically. They watch him oddly as he forced himself to a stand, "that gate is only meant to let one person in at a time, once one enters they never return. It's the same with your Queen. She won't come back!" The man's face was showing something scary as he laughs harder. Femur unsheaths his sword and points it at the man, "what do you mean." He asks. The man stops laughing, "I'm from the Igland Kingdom, my king went into there two days ago and I never seen him again. I waited here for two days?" He chuckles. Femur clenches the hilt of his sword, "what's in there?"

The man shrugs, "don't know but it's not something good, because all I could hear were the screams of a dying man." He says falling back to the ground to sit. The warriors stood there, their hearts pounding wildly from the information they recieved, "my god, what do we do? Our Queen is in there, what if..." Brim whispers shivering uncontrollably. Rock grabs her hand, "calm down, it's our Queen. She's strong, if anyone could survive the terrors beyond that gate, it's her." He says. It was silent again as they worridly glanced back at the gate, "yeah, we always forget that she's really powerful, but that never stop us from trying to keep her safe." Femur says.

"Shit, this is too damn hard. We have no choice but to trust that she'll come back to us." Rock slams his fist into the stone pillar near the gate. "I remember the first time I became the Queen's warrior." Brim says with a slight smile, "she was so beautiful, our queen with her fiery red hair and sparkly green eyes. Even though she was taking down a whold kingdom that I resided in, I couldn't help but be inthralled by the light." She says. It's true, that's how they all met her and fell in love with someone extremely poweful. No matter her evil deeds, they would've died if she told them to, when she just randomly chose to retire life as a villainess they followed her, it didn't matter to them which path she chose.

All they cared about was being by her side.
