Monday morning came rolling up super fast. I was definitely not prepared for another week of torture and training.
Entering the school halls I made my way to my locker. Hoody up, I was barely noticeable. Just how I liked it.
Entering the key pin in the padlock, my locker opened.
I wasn't the most studious of people nor was I the tidiest. So when I say my locker was more than just your average mess, I meant it.
Pulling out my books for the next class I sighed heavily as last week's events randomly popped up in my head
I cringed at the behaviour I shamelessly displayed on that Friday and deeply regretted ever going there with Nicholi.
The embarrassing, cringeworthy thoughts forced me to bury my head in my open locker and loudly grunt.
I swear I'm never involving myself with any bars or teen hangouts again.
And what was with me the next morning, touching Nicholi like that? Usually I'd just take a glance and that would be it.
Not touch!
The liquor must still have been in my system at that time. That's the only reason I can think of.
Quickly picking my head up in realisation, I looked to the poster at the very back of my locker.
They say alcohol brings out the true personality of a person. Does that mean I'm actually a pervert?
Tears at the corners of my eyes accumulated as I grunted at the revelation.
Mother, father though you don't know me, your daughter is a huge perv. Please, spread my ashes in the ocean when you find my body hanging on a r-
"Hey, is that a Tododeku fanfic poster?"
Internal monologue interrupted, my head whipped to the direction of the intruder.
My eyes widened at the sight of a beautiful, jade eyed beauty. She had long, silky black hair, thin pink lips and long eyelashes.
"Uhm..."
I was confused, who was this girl and how'd she know about Tododeku?
"Oh my gosh I just love that ship. Some people prefer Bakudeku but I just think that's a crappy pairing. I mean why would you pair up a douchebag like Bakugou with the sweet cinnamon roll? That's just madness."
I didn't know this girl, not one bit. But the instant she started babbling on about the famous ships from Baku no hero academia, I could not help but to join her.
"I know right! I mean I accept a Todobaku ship pairing but definitely not a Bakudeku. That's just injustice!"
Her eyes widened in delight as her smile became broader and more enthusiastic.
She seemed extremely happy and slightly excited to be talking to me. Something I am most definitely not use to but will welcome with open arms.
"I totally get what you're saying. Anything works when it has to do with Todoroki, I'm even a bit lenient when it's a Todobakudeku pairing but I barely support those."
I nodded my head in both understanding and agreement, eyes closed, thumb and forefinger on chin.
"That is true I am the same although a Kiribaku ship isn't so bad either."
"I know right! It's the perfect pairing and absolutely acceptable"
She excitedly exclaimed, eyes sparkling like diamonds and hands firmly holding onto my shoulders.
"Uhm...yeah. Sorry but who are y-"
The sudden ear piercing noise interrupted me mid-sentence.
Startled by the bell the stranger seemed to finally realise where it was she was
"Oh shit, I'm gonna be late."
Turning around, bag hanging around one shoulder she took off with lightning speed
"I'll see you later!"
She got out as she rushed to her destination.
Her speed causing the long curtain of black to whip behind her, making her seem like a princess.
She looked like someone who'd be incredibly popular with loads of friends. The kind of person who'd be invited to those huge house parties.
So it was kind of shocking that she knew about anime and not just any anime but BL.
I mean if I passed by her I would never have guessed she was actually like me, a fujoshi.
Well the world is a crazy place with many and I mean, many mysteries.
Walking into class I took a seat in the middle row. The literature teacher, Mrs Grayson, happily entered the class with her usual smile.
I don't know why but her sense of positivity and optimism always angered me.
No.....more like it disgusted me. Just like the bright yellow dress she has on with her signature pink bow in her hair.
"Good morning class. How are you all today?"
She basically sang out in question. The class responded with grumbles of fatigue and annoyance.
"That's good to hear"
She basically brushed us off. Her smile still wide on her face and an aura of pure light came shining from her.
It honestly blinded me further than I already was.
Turning to the board she scribbled along, her sundress whipping along with her movements.
Yellow use to be my favourite colour, now I hate it. This woman ruined yellow for me!
********
Three lessons and a bathroom break later and I was off to the library.
I didn't have any friends so it was pretty useless to go to the cafeteria and just sit there, all alone watching people like some creep.
Passing by the check desk I greeted the old librarian, Mrs Ryers.
She was a snow white haired, big brown eyed, sixty-something year old lady.
But she was the nicest old lady I knew.
"Oh my, hello Summers. How are you today?"
Although she's nice, she keeps getting my name wrong. Last week I was Penny, I guess today I'm Summers.
"Just well Mrs Ryers and you?"
I asked with a bright and friendly smile
"Just well my dear. Oh, before I forget, take this"
Bending down underneath her desk, she reached for a container with a pink lid.
"My grandkids were visiting for the weekend and I just made a little too much."
In the container was a whole batch of homemade cookies. Immediately my mouth watered at the smell of the chocolaty goodness.
"I-I couldn't take this Mrs Ryers, you're always too nice to m-"
"Oh pish posh, it's no harm done now is it? Besides I like making treats for you when my granbabies aren't around to enjoy them."
Shoving the box full of cookies she gave me a look, you know that one old ladies give to make you take something from them even when you don't want to?
Yeah, that one.
"You will have them now won't you?"
She asked it as a question, but it didn't really feel like one. I mean how was I supposed to say no to that?
Wait, why would I say no to an entire box full of delicious chocolate chip cookies?
"Yes I will. Thank you so much, I'll make sure to return the box as soon as possible."
Caving in I took the batch shoved towards me and thanked the old lady.
"That is no issue dear. Please do enjoy yourself."
"I will"
Waving at her with a smile I made my way to the back of the library.
I've been here so many times in the past it's basically more of a home than my real home.
In tenth grade Mrs Ryers decided to put a big bean bag chair in the far back away from everyone, just for me.
She said that I was here so much I basically lived in the library.
Of course she got my name wrong then aswell but I didn't really mind it.
The fact that she actually cared enough to do something like that for me was enough to warm my heart.
Rounding the corner I found my bean bag chair hidden in the far corner.
Old books no one read or found even remotely interesting layed sprawled all around the floor.
I read so much over the years and forgot to return them to their respective places that I just decided to leave them exactly where they were.
Throwing my tense body on the soft material I felt my muscles relax. My body eased further into the comfortable chair and I sighed in relief.
It was bliss to be here, surrounded by books, away from prying eyes. A place where I could unwind and just be me. My own little spot in a small, dark corner.
This was my heaven.
Reaching down to my side I grabbed whatever book grazed my fingers.
Not bothering to even read the title or the cover of the book I began reading the first chapter.
It was pure bliss to read a book and have delicious snacks at the same time.
******
Thirty minutes later I found myself so invested in the book that I nearly didn't hear the bell go off.
Looking up from my personal poison, I saw the clock read eleven-forty-five.
Before closing my book I placed a bobby pin in the middle of the page so I wouldn't lose my place.
Picking up my bag I slipped it around one arm and in the other carried the now empty container.
Placing the book onto the chair, so that I'd know which book it was I was reading, I walked back to the entrance of the library.
Behind her large, oak desk was Mrs Ryers idly sitting by, typing away on her modernized laptop.
An upgrade from that old pair of machine that was basically a TV/radio.
"Thank you so much for the cookies Mrs Ryers, I really enjoyed them."
"Oh well I'm glad you loved them"
She gave a closed eyed smile. Placing the container on her desk I waved a goodbye as I went out the library doors.
"I'll see you soon Riley"
I laughed at her once again getting my name wrong. But that was the closest she's ever gotten to my name, so I guess a win's a win.
Walking back to class I entered the lab room, which was basically empty.
Confused that I might've gotten the wrong class I asked the teacher who was busy tidying her desk.
"Uhm, excuse me but this is Mr Pole's classroom right?"
Stopping with her frantic search of some papers, the young lady looked up from her place.
"Oh yes it is."
"Well do you know where everyone went?"
"They're all in the gym hall. There was an announcement earlier that the next class was cancelled and that the lower grade was joining the seniors for P.E"
"Oh, well thank you."
She smiled at me and went back to whatever it was she was doing.
Running out of the classroom I made a mad dash for the gym hall.
I didn't hear anything about this. Where was I when it was announced?
Maybe it's when I was in the library? It's possible, after all the intercom doesn't work in there anymore.
Dashing towards the hall I burst through the doors....which was a mistake on my end since I bumped into someone causing them to topple over.
Somehow I found myself lying on top of a very pissed off Nicholi.
Again, this was a mistake. You never and I mean never irritate Nicholi especially when he's already pissed.
"I am so sorry!"
Frantic I jumped off him like I was sitting on hot lava. Scared for my life, instinctively my eyes closed shut.
I waited for the punch or hurtful comment but it never came.
Opening my eyes I saw a glimmer of what seemed like hurt swim in his emerald eyes.
No that couldn't be right. But before I could take a closer look, it was gone as fast as it had appeared.
"It's alright. Just be more careful next time."
Now suddenly turned mute, I nodded my head at him as he turned and walked away.
Lowering my head I walked to where the rest of the class was seated and took shelter at the end of the bleachers.
I must have imagined it. There's no way the "Mad dog" of Evecove high, would ever be hurt by my mere flinching....right?
Shaking my head in denial and as a means to remove these useless thoughts out of my head, I focused on what was being instructed to us by the teacher.
"Hey, it's you!"
Jumping at the unexpected voice I looked to my side to find the black haired beauty from this morning.
Her smile just as radiant as the last time I saw her.
"I've been looking for you!"
Wait, why was she looking for me? Does this have something to do with my interest in BL?
"I was actually going to ask you this a little sooner but then I had to go. So anyway I was wondering if you'd like to hang out sometime?"
Wait, what! She wants to hang out with me?
Why?
Maybe this was some sort of prank. Her friends are probably sitting somewhere recording this whole thing and laughing at me.
They're probably just waiting for me to go like okay and then....BAM! Hair full of paint or something.
Well I'm not falling for that.
Looking back at her I was about to utter the words "No thanks" but then I saw the pleading look in her eyes.
They compelled me, it was like I had no will to deny her offer....but I had to stay strong.
No power, no amount of witchcraft or mind games can ever deter my wi-
"Okay"
Crap!
