Tired out of my mind from all the running I did yesterday, it was a struggle to get out of bed.
Especially since it was so large.
After our whole running and forming a bond thanks to Wilbert the disgusting spider, we had to walk all the way to our homes.
Turns out we actually lived really close to the other. Her house was on the street behind mine.
This just gave us another reason to strengthen our weird and klutzy relationship, friendship?
A buzz on the bed woke me just as I was about to doze off once more.
The constant buzzing of my phone was all but welcomed. Patting around my bed for the device, I finally found it in the far corner.
I turned the alarm off and finally opened my eyes.
Instead of being greeted with sunshine and the constant chirping of birds lurking outside my window, I awoke to darkness.
It was by no means nighttime or early morning with the sun not yet risen.
No, my room was decorated with heavy dark colors making it constant nighttime with the curtains closed.
Grumbling at no one in particular I scrambled out of the comforts of my bed and blankets.
Instantly I was hit with the cold, morning air and already I was regretting my life choices that included getting up for yet another day of school.
With heavy feet and only half-open eyes, I dragged my tired body to the bathroom for a quick shower.
An hour later and I was fully dried and dressed. My hair only half dry but that wasn't a concern for me.
Making my way down the stairs to make myself a nice breakfast, the silence in the large house gave me an eerie feeling.
You'd think one would be used to this by now right? But eight years later and I'm still not totally okay with it.
Usually, I put on loud music to try and ease my discomfort, but today I was feeling kinda emo.
So dark and sad songs were today's playlist. A great choice for this fine, lonely morning if I do say so myself.
Opening the fridge to take out two eggs and milk, I put the stove on and placed a pan atop.
Putting on some cooking spray onto the pan I waited for the stove plate to warm up.
Cracking the eggs into a bowl I mixed them with a cup of milk. Once the pan was warmed up I poured the mixture onto it.
Throwing away the eggshells and placing the carton of milk back into the fridge, I simultaneously grabbed the jar of orange juice.
I poured myself a glass of the juice and returned it to its previous place.
Flipping over the omelet to let it get done on the bottom as well, I waited for a few minutes until it was time to remove it from the pan and onto a plate.
I turned the stove off and removed the pan off the hot plate.
Walking to the sitting room, glass and plate in hand I munched on my breakfast in sweet peace, surrounded by the sound of soft depressing music.
Yeah, just my typical everyday lifestyle.
Huh...so boring.
Food done with and dishes in dishwasher I grabbed my pack walked to the door, car keys in hand.
Just as I was about to leave, the door was opened from the outside. Surprised by this I took a step back, expecting my mother to pop in unexpectedly like usual.
But who stood before I was a much bigger surprise than the ghost of my mother.
I'd think of a robber before thinking of the man standing before me. At this point, I'd even be okay with it being Nicholi or one of his friends but this, this was a shock.
The phantom figure of my father stood before me in silence and I was no better.
We stood in awkward silence at the entrance, unmoving yet both visibly uncomfortable.
"Reign."
The silence was broken by the deep voice of my father, the same father I hadn't seen for months.
"I-"
Before he could go any further, I walked around the tall male and out of the house in a hurry.
"Sorry, I'm gonna be late for school"
He sighed in what I think was hurt, but that can't be so.
My father was not one to be hurt by such trivial things, he had too much pride. Enough to supply the rest of the world.
And that was something I knew first hand.
Walking to my car parked in the driveway, I took notice of the black Mercedes parked next to it.
Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I unlocked my vehicle, got in, and drove off as fast as I could.
One thing I did not want to experience so early in the morning was the awkward talk that would most likely not take place with my father.
Increasing the volume on my stereo, I sighed in fatigue. It wasn't even the start of the morning yet I was already tired.
What was to become of me at school, would I even survive the day?
I pushed those thoughts aside since it was too early for such a mood of despair.
Like could we at least have them at school after the second lesson?
Parking into the furthest spot of the parking lot, I made my way out of the car. Grabbed my bag from the passenger seat and shut the door with a loud thud.
Students loitering around the lot turned to me in question, seeing this I stopped in my tracks and shrunk in on myself at the prying eyes.
I was so not good with attention especially when it was provided by teenagers the same age as me.
I made my way up the stairs to the entrance and before I could even go through the doors, I was attacked by a wild teen with green eyes and a curtain of black hair.
"Reign! There you are."
Nova practically screamed in my right ear, hanging off my neck like a monkey.
"Nova!"
I said in surprise. I wasn't expecting to see her so soon. Especially not so early in the morning.
"So how's your morning going?"
She asked with the most optimistic energy I've ever witnessed in my life.
"I'm pretty good but, could you not hang off me like a newborn chimp?"
"Oops, sorry."
Releasing me from her arms I rubbed my neck to ease the strain in my neck caused by her assault.
"So, where are you heading off to?"
Enthusiastic as ever she asked me with her eyes glimmering like jewels.
She leaned forward with her hands behind her back. She looked like an anime character right then.
"Uhm, I'm just heading to my locker."
I nervously stated.
"Great, then let's go"
Grabbing me by the arm she hooked hers with mine. In we walked through the school doors.
It was unusual for me to have someone waiting on my arrival and then go as far as to walk with me to my locker.
It felt weird but I kinda liked it. But what I didn't like was the sudden amount of eyes on us.
For some reason, all the students were staring at us, well Nova to be more accurate. Their eyes followed after us as we passed by.
Are they staring at us or her though?
I don't really know if it's cause I'm walking with a beauty like Nova or if I had suddenly gotten pink-colored hair.....again.
Happened before. It's a long story, call it a science experiment gone wrong.
"Nova, does my hair look normal?"
I asked the girl proudly walking alongside me with her head held high.
"Of course it does"
She happily chirped.
"Then why are people staring?"
I whispered with my free hand cupping the side of my mouth. Like I was telling her a deep, dark secret.
"Hmm? Oh, that happens a lot. For some reason, people are always staring at me whenever I get to school."
She said nonchalantly at the ogling eyes.
"I wonder why though?"
She asked genuinely confused. She's joking, right?
Doesn't this girl realize just how attractive she is! She makes all the guys turn to her with the simple flip of her hair.
All the girls envy her and instead of treating her badly like they would in mean girls, instead they respect her.
This girl is so attractive that I'm reconsidering my sexuality....okay maybe not that far but you get the idea.
"So you're telling me this happens every day?"
"Yeah"
She shrugged off with a straight face.
Arriving at my locker, she let go of her hold on my arm as I put in the combination to the lock.
"There you are! Do have any idea how long I've been looking for you?"
A voice suddenly spoke out, out of nowhere.
Taking a peek at the intruder my eyes widened in shock.
It was Trixy Lawson, the most popular girl in the senior grade.
Usually, I didn't know a thing about the social hierarchy or who occupied which space but I knew of the so-called "important" ones.
For example Nicholi, I know him because he's dangerous, feared, and most importantly not to be associated with.
Unfortunately for me, the world decided to force our destinies to intertwine.
Trixy on the other hand was a different story. She was the queen bee of the seniors. She had the power to make or break a person with a single sentence.
By that I mean she could make you popular within a day but she could also ruin your high school career forever.
Only those few who had more authority on the social hierarchy remained unaffected by her influence.
Such as the "Mad dog" and Evecove's princess, who I've never met before.
I heard she's actually a grade under, making the possibility of us meeting really slim.
"Sorry Trix, I forgot. I was just so excited to finally have a new friend that I couldn't wait to see her."
"Well, next time mind giving me a heads up? I was waiting for you in the parking lot for a whole fifteen minutes."
Trixy snapped at her, rolling her eyes in what I assume is irritation
"I'm so sorry!"
Nova again apologized hands held together as if in prayer.
Slowly a smile rose onto the plump lips of the blonde, girl.
"Alright, I guess I can forgive you this one time."
Her eyes narrowed down on her last words as she turned to me.
They looked calculative as if though she was judging me and the choice of my outfit.
I looked up at her, feeling threatened by her gaze. Once her observation was complete, all she did was scoff and look back to her friend.
Well, excuse me! Not all of us feel comfortable in a pink mini skirt and basically, a bandage wrapped around our breasts.
I mean what was this, Fairytale? You're not Erza, put on a shirt damn you.
And what's with the six-inch hills? Are your ankles okay?
"So, there's a party tonight at Aden's. You coming?"
"Uhm....Nah, I don't think I can. They're releasing an episode of an anime I'm watching and I don't wanna miss it."
My eyes widened at that and my fear of the giraffe-sized lady was all gone.
"Wait, are you talking about that new BL anime just released?"
I asked in excitement, not minding the odd look I received from the person standing next to us.
"Oh my gosh yes! You watch it too?"
"Ah, yeah!"
Excited and fangirling like two psychopaths on steroids, we held hands and jumped up and down in pure excitement.
"I can't believe you watch that too!"
"I can't believe you watch it!"
I was pretty stoked that I found someone to share my love and interest in anime with and not just any ordinary anime, but BL.
Just then the bell rang signaling for students to make their way to their first lesson of the day.
"Shoot, I gotta go but I'll catch you at lunch, right?"
"Yeah, I'll see you then."
Letting go of her hands, she hugged me and turned to leave.
Grabbing her friend by the wrist, she was off before I could register it.
"I'll meet you in front of the music room!"
She screamed running down the hallway, which I thought unnecessary given that the sea of students parted to make way for her to pass. Like the Nile parted for Moses.
"I can't believe that nobody's friends with both Trixy and Evecove's princess."
"Yeah, doesn't make sense right?"
Two students whispered not so discreetly pointing at me.
Firstly, rude much! I'm not a nobody, I have a name.
Secondly, if you're gonna whisper about someone, could you do it more discreetly next time?
And thirdly, what do you mean friends with Evecove's princess. I've never even met her before.
And it was then that it hit me. Evecove's princess was a grade lower than me, was described to be absolutely stunning with an aura different from any person you've ever met. The kind that made head turns.
And that description matched Nova to a "T".
Oh snap, she's the school's princess!
