Chereads / Rise of King Arthur / Chapter 43 - TORMENT

Chapter 43 - TORMENT

Arthur drew back his dagger, letting Kaine breathe. She had to use all of her strength to keep holding on to his attack. But Arthur wasn't as comfortable as he looked on the outside when he was attacking Kaine.

Kaine stepped back to care Mason's wounds as Arthur went towards Lena and the poor archer.

When the adventurers saw Kaine and Mason away from Arthur, they thought it was time to attack and prepared themself for it. Archers aimed their arrows. Mages prepared their spells. And warriors, the shields.

Kaine was one of the most powerful B-rank adventurers in the surrounding city and was already considered by many even as A-rank, but she knew that she wasn't as strong as the A-rank, they had a distinctive difference in strength and level.

So she couldn't help but be angry when her group was about to attack Arthur and his group, "You idiots! Do you have shit in place of the brain?! Put your weapons down and let me handle the situation!"

The adventurers followed Mason's orders, but everyone knew that Kaine is his aunt and the strongest adventurer of their group, so they would not go against her orders. Everyone lowered their weapons, causing the archer to lose hope completely.

Lena didn't want Arthur to make enmity with all those adventurers, so she tried to ask him not to go too far. "Arthur, we're fine, so you don't have to kill him."

Arthur listened to the adventurers' murmurs as he continued to stomp on the archer's body. He didn't care to be called a devil or anything like that. He was just so angry that the archer tried to hurt them. They were already through too much suffering that now Arthur kind of hates it whenever someone crosses his road without any reason.

Kaine could no longer hear the poor man's muffled screams and begged Arthur to stop. "You already hurt him a lot. Please stop!"

Arthur took his foot off the archer's chest, "Would you have spared him if it were your nephew attacked without reason?"

Kaine could not deny that if someone dear to her were attacked without reason, she would be very angry with the attacker. But she wouldn't go so far as to torture the person.

"I would bring them to justice and not torture them to death!"

Arthur looked like he heard something funny, he laughed out loud, when he stopped he had a frosty face that had a dark smile in it, " Justice!? I am returning alive from an ambush, then betrayal from those who I tried to save."

"I don't care about justice. It's what will happen to anyone who thinks of harming my women."

Everyone got the message, and most of them paid attention to the fact that he said "women," so they concluded that he also talked about Elena and Lumia.

Lumia was stumped when she heard what Arthur said. Her focus was more on the 'my women' part. She was thinking if that also included her. Not that she wanted to become his women. Her own thoughts were becoming more contradictory as time passed.

Elena on the other hand, felt sorry for Arthur because their group attacked him when he voluntarily came forward to help them because of Lena.

Kaine couldn't believe that a high-rank archer died like that in front of her, and she can't do anything. Arthur is not only powerful and brutal, but those girls with him is also incredibly strong too. She knew they had no chance of winning despite being in such a large group.

All she wanted to do was leave before the devil killed more of her comrades. Kaine gave Elena and Lumia a sad look; even though they were Arthur's prisoners, there was nothing she could do.

But then something clicked in her mind. Why was the prisoners helping their captivator?

They came here to save them but they acted by killing their comrades. What kind of logic is that?

"I understand him trying to kill us but why are you girls helping him? Isn't he with the bandits who captured you girls?", Kaine asked the girls with her teeth gritted.

"You are wrong. We helped these girls escape from a bandit attack. We are not bandits. ", Lena explained immediately.

Kaine understood what happened now clearly, she was upset that her high-ranking archer was dead because of misunderstanding but she bowed slightly to Arthur as she spoke in the most respectful way she could. "I apologize again for attacking you without confirming your real identity or intent. If you allow me, I would like to leave now and not bother you anymore."

At this time, Elena approached Arthur and whispered something in his ears.

Kaine thought Elena was convincing him so Arthur would not try to go any further, as a conflict would be fatal for both sides, but he seemed to know no limits.

"We still have a lot to talk about."

"You, two idiots, come out from behind the trees!"

No one noticed that the elven brothers had come out from behind the group of adventurers and hid in the trees close the road, but Elena heard their murmurs with her extraordinary hearing senses.

When the eleven brothers heard Arthur's shout and saw him looking in their direction, they knew they were screwed. They were terrified and could not move.

Everyone looked in the direction Arthur was looking expecting to see something, but there was no movement. Then Arthur looked at Lena whom didn't even need to say anything because she understood his intention.

[FIREBALL]

The elven brothers were already terrified, but when they saw Lena throwing a big [FIREBALL] spell at them, they couldn't help but come out from behind the tree and run towards Arthur. They did not want to end up like the poor archer.

Some of the adventurers could not help but frown as they came to help the elven brothers, but they fled in the first danger that appeared. They knew that Arthur and his women's were enemies that they could not defeat, but abandoning their comrades like that was not a popular thing with adventurers.

Some were also angry at the brothers for getting them into this trouble. So they were happy when they saw the urine trail behind one of the elves. They are obviously terrified.

The elven brothers quickly arrived in front of Arthur and knelt while pleading. "Please forgive us! We thought you were with the bandits and would hurt Elena and Lumia. We just wanted to save them."

Arthur smiled when he understood the whole situation. He had already heard much of the brothers' action from Elena while they were hiding.
