The bandits group only had two members now. The archer and the leader were the only remaining one's. They are now fighting the other two black-clothed enemy together. But those two were definitely stronger than the archer and the leader. One of them fought bare-handed and the other one was fighting with a spear in his hand. The bare handed one was trying to attack the bandit mage as he is the support for leader. The one with the spear fought with the leader equally. But when the mage died, the one with the dagger also joined the fight and attacked the archer. They are not letting the archer gain any distance between them.
With two people fighting against three, there is no way they can win as the black-clothed trio is stronger than the remaining bandits. The bandit duo immediately fell into disadvantage. On the other hand, the leader black-clothed guy also made a move but he wasn't attacking Elena or my team. He started with killing all the injured one's who were lying on the ground after suffering from Arthur's attack.
Arthur couldn't help but praise the leader of the black-clothed man in his head. He didn't make the same mistake as he did. The very first thing he did was to deal with those injured people. Although they are injured, in their eyes everyone here is their enemy. They can't be lenient with enemy even if he is unable to fight. He did his work thoroughly. In this regard, Arthur must say he is inferior to these goons. But he learned his lessons today.
"you bastard, what are you doing? If you are a man, then fight me.", leader of Elena's team barked at the black-clothed assassins team leader. Saying that he jumped at him to fight. But the other one didn't even pay heed to him. He just slaughtered the rest of the injured people quickly while moving fast and dodging the attacks that came at him.
Elena and her team members were angry at the black-clothed man for killing the injured people. It was very unfair to those people who had no way to fight back against such a powerful enemy, much less now that they were injured heavily.
I don't know what to do now. I was near Lena, guarding her as she was healing her wound. I was getting anxious as it took more time than it took for a normal healing potion to heal wounds. But I thought it was because her wound must be more serious than what I thought. But currently Lena's face wasn't as scrunched up as it was before and she didn't seem to be in pain, just her eyes were closed and she was in a coma state. My heart didn't feel good seeing Lena in this state.
I looked around and my gaze landed on the fight between bandit and the three black-clothed assassins. Their fight was nearing its end so I thought I should prepare myself to fight. I looked at Elena and decided to ask her again if she will fight with us.
"Hello, fox-lady, I am Arthur. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, Arthur. I am Elena."
"Nice name. so, can I take it that you are our ally in this fight?"
Elena chuckled elegantly and looked into my eyes, then she replied," You don't have any use of me in this fight even if I take your side as I can't help you fighting because I don't have any fighting power or magic. I can only give you moral support if that helps."
Arthur was dumbfounded again. He couldn't even keep count of the times he was surprised today. Why is everybody dropping so many astonishing bombs today? Is there something wrong today?
Such a beautiful fox-lady and she says she can't fight or use magic. In this world, people follow the law of survival of the fittest and that is truer for beast-men. They follow a meritocratic system where only strong people has the right to talk. 'Might makes right'-this saying is used to describe beast-men people's daily lifestyle. They revere the strong and bully the weak. Weak people are despised in their society. So, I can't imagine how a beast-men who can't fight can exist in this world.
I stared intently at her.
"is that supposed to be a joke? Because if it is, it's not funny at all.", Arthur asked Elena in an annoyed tone.
"I hope it was. But sadly, it's the truth, my devil-friend. I couldn't cultivate any fighting or magic power since I can remember.", Elena answered, her voice filled with sadness and melancholy.
Arthur could feel the sadness in her voice and he understood her pain. Being weak in power level is already a huge pain in the ass but if you can't even practice that's like being a king of pain in the ass. You will understand if you have been in this kind of situation. I know because before getting this system, I was also in a similar situation. So, I suddenly felt sad for her.
Elena could feel my emotional change so she smiled beautifully and spoke to me.
"and here I thought you devils are heartless and unfeeling. But look at you, aren't you quite a softy?"
"I am not a devil-race, only Lena and I found that out today.", I became embarrassed and spoke hurriedly.
This time Elena was surprised. She didn't expect me to be a human as I was with a devil. But I can't help that as I didn't know before and even so, now that I know, I still don't want Lena to leave my side.
"oh…,you are a human. So, what now? Are you going to keep her with you?", Elena asked playfully, her tails moved in a cute way when she spoke.
"of course, she will stay with me. I still have to punish her as her master for lying to me. I don't like people who don't keep their words.", I replied instantly and gave her naughty smile.
'giggle…giggle…', Elena giggled hearing my reply. But right after, she became serious.
"if you love a devil, then you must be prepared to face the hate that comes with it. Can you face the hatred of entire world?"
"I don't need to face that if nobody spills the bean about Lena being a devil.", I looked at Elena meaningfully.
"you are quite funny, Arthur. Why would I do that?"
"who knows, people change when there's something to gain."
I replied to her question vaguely and at that moment, the fight between the bandits and the black-clothed guys ended.
