Chereads / Sky Chasers: Scale of Judgment / Chapter 5 - The Three Fairies

Chapter 5 - The Three Fairies

Whispers can be heard ringing around a young man lying on the ground filled with dirt as the wind continues to blow on his face as if he was being fanned using a very small ventilator.

"Shh... Be quiet! You might wake him up!" A tiny voice chastised. It sounds so little that it can be compared to a mouse talking.

"You're the noisy one! You kept on scolding me even though I didn't say anything?" Another tiny voice, with which has a tinge of difference from the first, objected.

"Will you two shut up or I'll bury you two deep down the ground?" Another voice ordered which sounded a whole lot different than the first two who spoke because this voice sounded so cold.

"Sorry, sis!" The first two ceded.

At this moment, Luis heard the conversation of the three tiny voices as if they're arguing about something. He slowly opened his eyes as he saw three figures of girls, floating in front of him.

The three have a pair of paper-thin wings that looked like glass and can be compared as same as the wings of the fireflies. Their figures and facial features looked like a two-year-old kid but their temperament feels like the different attitudes of teenagers.

The supposed to be elder sister looked at Luis as she discovered that the young man is already awake.

"Look at what you did, you two! You disturbed a person taking a rest!" The eldest reprimanded.

"Ah!" Luis screamed as mixed emotions of shock, stranged, and confused surfaced on his face.

"Don't be scared, young man! We won't hurt you!" The girl that has the middle range of voice comforted him.

"What are you? Where am I? What am I doing here?" Luis panicked.

"Hey! Isn't it a bit rude to ask what are we than who are we?" The girl with the tiniest voice sassed and she clicked her tongue signifying that she's pissed.

"Don't be rude Elaine, this person is still shocked by all of these things happening." The eldest reprimanded the youngest.

"You can talk to us when you're already calmed down, okay?" The second sister comforted Luis.

The three moved a bit further from Luis to give him some time to calm down. The still shocked Luis processed and remembered everything that happened for some time. After he finished thinking about things, he decided to approach the sisters.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier. I'm Luis, may I politely ask for your names?" Luis apologized and politely asked.

"I am Elena, this is Elenor, my second sister, and Elaine, our youngest." Elena introduced as she pointed out which was which.

"May we ask where you're going and where you came from?" Elenor asked smiling.

"I came from Earth, I don't know if this place is still a part of that world. I'm going to Divine Prophecy Academy because they asked me to go there." Luis answered.

"Earth? Isn't that the forsaken world by the Gods?" Elaine asked her sisters when they decided to have a discussion.

"Yeah! that is the one," Elenor answered.

"How come he came from that place?"

"We won't know if we don't ask." Elena interrupted their talk as they faced Luis again after their small discussion.

"Do you need help with anything?" Elenor asked Luis.

"I just want to know anything about this place and everything that I might need to know," Luis responded.

They talked for hours while Luis walked and the fairies hover, Luis asked questions which was answered by the sisters.

He gained the basic information about this world, place, and system. He discovered that he's already away from Earth and this world was called Sacred Domain.

The exact forest where they were was called Willowing Woods, the trees looked dead as if they were traversing a haunted forest, this happened because winter just passed and spring just came so the leaves didn't grow up yet.

This view might give a creepy vibe during winter but this forest changes its vibe as the season changes, especially mid-spring and mid-autumn. The verdant green look is so fascinating and magical during spring and the mixed color of red and orange leaves during autumn leaves a nostalgic feeling towards those who see this magical view.

This world is also full of magical creatures like the three fairy sisters. They were called Earth Fairies and different earth creatures lived in different forests like Orcs, Goblins, Elves, Ogres, Dryads, Pixies, and many different creatures and beasts. The humans classified these creatures as the children of Terra God and Nature Goddess.

They kept on talking and Luis discovered their personalities in a few conversations and exchanges. Elaine is the most talkative and naive among the three, Elenor is the jolliest and the most cheerful, and Elena is the coldest and strict among them, she only spoke when needed but most of the time, she's quiet.

As they talked about some things, a deafening roar can be heard echoing throughout the woods.

"It's a cry of a Black Rock Tiger!" Elaine screamed.

"Black Rock Tiger?" Luis curiously asked.

"Yes, they are the most vicious beast around these woods, they usually move in packs but I think this one is alone," Elenor answered as the jolly feature she had suddenly disappeared and become serious.

"Get ready to fight Luis! Give it all you can!" Elaine shouted.

"Uhm, you know that I can't fight with magic like you guys, right?" Luis faltered as both Elaine and Elenor's jaws dropped from what they heard.

"You should have expected that girls, he didn't come from our world. Luis, step back and let us fight it." Elena explained.

Luis took a step back as he watched the sisters get in place to prepare for a fight. The roar got louder as the beast moved closer.

"Earth's Illusion: Hidden Quick Sand!" Elaine shouted as a certain part of the ground glowed but nothing seemed to change.

"Get ready Elenor! The beast is coming!" Elena warned.

"Yes, sister!" Elenor responded.

The beast came running out of nowhere and pounced towards the place where the light shone earlier when Elaine cast a spell. A quicksand appeared as it trapped and slowed down the movement of the Black Rock Tiger.

"Earth Threads: Vine Whip!" Elenor shouted as five vines shot up the ground whipping the tiger to move back and when the beast stepped back for 200m, the vines wrapped around it, and Elena started to attack it.

"Terran Weapon: Solid Spear!" Elena coldly shouted as an eight-foot long spear rose from the ground and hovered over her opened palm.

She waved her hand and the spear thrust towards the tiger that pierced through the beast as it breathed its last breath and lay flatly on the solid ground. The beast died without having the chance to strike an attack.

"Is it dead?" Luis curiously asked.

"Probably," Elenor answered.

"Now carry that for us because you didn't help fighting it!" Elaine demanded.

"Elaine!" Elena warned.

"What? I only want him to help!" Elaine defended.

"No Elena, it's okay! Elaine is right. I didn't help to fight this guy. This is the least I can do." Luis concurred.

They kept on walking towards the way the map from the student handbook indicated.

A while later, thunder roared as the wind blew the chilly air that lingered from the winter that just passed, and the rain started to pour down.

Luis and the three immediately seek shelter to avoid the pouring rain. All of them are soaked and the fairies can't even fly because their wings are wet.

"Look! There's a cave up ahead!" Elenor exclaimed as she pointed out a cave in sight.

The sisters already sat on Luis's shoulders because they can't already fly and their size is just as big as Luis's hand so it's not a burden for him to carry them while pulling the dead body of the beast.

They entered the cave and the three jumped down from his shoulder as they assembled a camp inside and decided to dry themselves afterward.

"Great! It's nice to celebrate my birthday in a cave in the middle of nowhere while rain pours heavily outside!" Luis muttered sarcastically to himself as he looked outside the cave.

"Vines!" Elenor muttered as vines crawled down from the upper opening of the cave, blocking the view of the outside.

"Sorry to interrupt your moment Luis, but we need to make sure that we are all safe from danger while we rest." Elenor apologized.

"It's okay, it's nothing important, and safety should be our priority. How are the others?" Luis assured and asked.

"Already dry! Anyway, I have a trivia for you about rain!" Elaine cheerfully responded.

"What is it about?" Luis curiously asked.

"Okay, here it goes! Did you know that rainy weather is the most hated weather for travelers like you?" Elaine stated.

"Why did you say so?" Luis kept on getting curious.

"Because they hate it when rainwater gets in their bags and drench their things," Elaine proudly responded as if saying that what she had said is the most intelligent information she had.

"Drench their things..." Luis repeated as he thought of something he might have forgotten.

'P.S Don't let the rainwater touch your handbook. I warned you!'

"Oh my gosh! My student handbook!" Luis exclaimed as he ran towards his backpack to check the handbook.

He searched for the book among the things in his bag. When he found it, he examined it carefully.

"Thank goodness! It's not drenched!" Luis exclaimed as he sighed out of relief when he found out that the handbook was only wet on corners and not drenched.

"Sorry to ruin your relief but, if that book was used with Water of Revelation, your relief is useless." Elenor cut.

"Why?" Luis nervously asked.

"Because when a single droplet of rainwater dropped at the paper, it will change into that," Elenor answered as she pointed to the book laying on Luis's hands.

The book on the young man's hands slowly deformed like he was holding up a bunch of wet mud as it dripped down the ground in chunks.

"NO! No, no, no... What will I do? I don't have any means to go to that place or even to go back!" Luis cried as his hands kept on holding the lumps and trying to put it back together but his efforts were wasted.

"Don't worry Luis! You can still go there, though it might take a while if you're finding a way there on your own." Elenor comforted.

"No! I should be there today! I don't want to risk my admission!" Luis wailed.

"I think I know someone who can help!" Elaine suggested.
