Chapter 6 - Unexpected Encounter

When the rain stopped, its already dusk, and the four continued their journey that was lead by Elaine to no one knows where.

"Would you mind tell us who is this being we're asking for help?" Elenor asked.

"Nope! I won't tell you!" Elaine provoked, as she continued leading the way.

"Then where are we going so we don't look like idiots guessing here!" Elena scolded as her cold voice pierced through Elaine, it gave her chills that made her scared out of her wits.

"Okay! I'm sorry! Don't be mad, please! We are going to the Gorge of Discord, okay? Just, don't kill me, sis!" Elaine panicked as her sweat dripped endlessly.

"We're going to the Gorge of Discord? You mean, we will talk to 'him'?" Elenor asked unbelievingly.

"Yeah, well... I don't know who we can ask for help other than 'him'?" Elaine pouted as she faced the three, making her two index fingers point at each other.

"Well, I guess we don't have any choice but to ask 'him' for help." Elena agreed, but her voice retained the coldness excluding the dangerous vibe she gave towards Elaine.

"Would you mind if I ask who is this 'him' you're talking about?" Luis curiously asked.

"You will know it as soon as we get there!" Elenor assured and winked.

The four continued their trip towards their new destination. They slay some beast on the way and while on it, they taught Luis some earth-class spells that can be easily learned like "Pebble Bullets" and "Mud-Slap". They continue their journey until night comes and decided to take a rest.

"Anyway, do you have an Earth element?" Elenor asked when they finished setting up the camp.

"I don't know?" Luis responded cluelessly.

"Let's just see what he has," Elena suggested as she gets a bowl of translucent water from who knows where.

"Put a drop of your blood there." Elaine urged Luis.

The young man bit his index finger as a gem-like drop of red blood oozed out and dripped down the water. The blood spread out of the surface of the water as it dissolved but it didn't make the water change its hue, it's still as translucent as it is.

"This will take a while so, you can prepare our food for now while we wait." Elena directed as the other three started preparing everything.

Luis started chopping the meat that they got from the beasts they slay earlier. Elaine sorted the wild herbs, vegetables, and mushrooms. Elenor made a fire using the flint and stone she summoned using her power and the firewood they gathered. Elenor and Elaine summoned some clay and they used their power to make a big pot, small bowls, and utensils out of it. Luis cooked the beast meat and the ingredients they had and made a soup out of it.

"Everyone, it's already coming out!" Elena shouted while the other three wait for the soup to boil. They ran and flew towards the eldest sister to see what is the result of the test.

"Is this seriously real?" Elaine exclaimed.

"What? What is it? Is it a strong power?" Luis asked excitedly.

"It's grey, it means it's neutral, that's why you can learn some basic Earth spell," Elenor explained as she pointed out the grey goo floating on the surface of the water.

"So? Is it a strong power?" Luis asked again.

"Pft... Haha... Sorry, I can't contain it! Hahahaha!" Elaine laughed out so hard that it made her roll over the ground.

"Why is she laughing? Is there something funny happening?" Luis asked which was answered with a shrug from the other two sisters' indicating that they also didn't know.

"You want to know why? Because this is the first time that I've seen someone so excited about acquiring a neutral element and deemed it strong, well, in fact, it was the worst and most useless of all! So pathetic! Hahaha..." Elaine mocked as she continued laughing.

Those words struck Luis too hard as if a big solid spear pierced through his heart as he suddenly realized how useless he was in this world.

"If the soup is ready, you can eat without me. I just need some time alone to breathe some fresh air." Luis blankly stated as he walked deep inside the forest, away from the loud laughter of Elaine.

"Elaine!" Elena and Elenor shouted in a duet.

"What?" Elaine gulped as she felt that the surrounding atmosphere suddenly turned heavy and cold as she felt the frightening aura coming from her sisters.

In the meantime, Luis sat down under a tree while holding a rock and played it with his hands.

"I lost the only guide I had, I missed the day of my admission at the new academy, and now I know that I had a pathetic and useless power. This is the worst birthday I ever had." Luis lamented as he threw the rock as far away as possible.

A moment later, when Luis decided to head back to the camp, a dim light suddenly shone from behind him. He looked behind him and saw that the dim light came from inside a cave.

Out of curiosity, he entered the cave, and deep inside it, he saw that the light came from a white and blue orb floating from the surface of the spring water.

The two orbs are lying there quietly so, Luis washed his face and decided to head back since his curiosity has been satisfied, but as he walked out towards the exit, he discovered that the light is getting brighter. He looked back inside the cave and saw the two orbs rushing towards him. It hit him then seeped through him and stayed at the place between his heart and his stomach.

A moment passed and Luis felt an excruciating pain coursed throughout his body as it stole away his consciousness.

The three searched for Luis for hours but even a sign of him didn't appear.

"Look at what you did, Elaine! It's your guilt when something happened to that human!" Elenor scolded.

"I already said sorry a million times!" Elaine cried.

"That word shouldn't be addressed to us," Elena remarked coldly. The three continued their search again.

At the same time, a strange thing was happening inside Luis's body. The white and blue energy clashed as it emits a violent wave of energy coursing through Luis's body that ripped his muscles and cracked his bones.

"This body will be mine!" A deep voice from Luis's consciousness claimed.

"No! I won't allow that! Leave this body alone!" Another deep voice with denied that sounded like it came from the blue light.

"No! I want this one! I need to get back up there!" The voice that came from the white light demanded.

"Stop! You might end up ripping this body apart!" The voice from the blue light begged.

"Then step out of my way!"

"Just, please! Have mercy to this poor boy!" The voice from the blue light pleaded.

Suddenly, a bright grey light shone upon the two energies trying to cover the two of them.

"This kid's soul is fighting for its body!" The white light was amused while fending the grey light.

"If I were you, I won't fend off that light." The blue light stated as it let itself get covered by the light.

"Why? Do you want to be imprisoned by this light just like that?" The white light exclaimed.

"No, it's not like I want to, but I don't have the choice to." The blue light sadly stated.

"Wait... What do you mean?" The white light got confused.

"Because this energy is not simple. It's 'that' energy." The blue light stated as it let itself get succumbed to the grey light.

"So this is 'that' energy. I guess I also don't have a choice but to accept my fate." The white light surrendered as it also let itself get succumbed to the grey light.

It's already dawn when the three fairies heard a loud wail as if the one who made it was suffering under intense torture. They felt their heart thump and their scalp tingling as they recognized these wails.

As soon as they heard it, they rushed towards the source of the wails and saw Luis covered in his blood, writhing in pain as his body continues to shake. Blood flowed out of his upper seven apertures as his limbs twisted in different angles, his eyeballs completely white as his messy hair got pulled out and wounds on his scalp appeared from scratching his head on the ground.

"Sis! I think he's possessed!" Elenor nervously exclaimed.

"No, I can't sense a foreign spirit inside him," Elena stated.

"This is all my fault! This reckless mouth of mine leads him to this situation!" Elaine cried.

"Let's just hope that he might still be alive after this." Elenor comforted.

Out of nowhere, a bottle with a glowing green liquid appeared on Elena's hand and tried to feed it to Luis, but when she touched his face, the man shouted out of pain as it scared the wits out of the three, and the bottle tipped as half of its contents spilled to the ground.

Elena tried to pour the other half as she tried to avoid making a contact with the young man's skin to avoid the incident earlier. She emptied the bottle and stepped back to observe what might happen.

"That serum can alleviate some external and internal injuries but let's hope that his soul and mind isn't damaged." Elena sighed as she backed off to give space.

Luis kept on shaking and writhing as his painful wails echoed through the woods. A couple of minutes later, Luis stopped moving. Elena approached him to check if he's already okay.

"I think... We're already too late." She sighed.
