Chereads / Sky Chasers: Scale of Judgment / Chapter 17 - Apprenticeship

Chapter 17 - Apprenticeship

"I want him!" A deep voice from the stage suddenly exclaimed.

People looked at the guy who suddenly talked and saw Mufar raising his hand.

"You already have a lot of students Mufar! You even have a lot of geniuses on your part? Why take this young man in too?" Theriud asked.

"Yes Theriud, I have a lot of students but unlike you all, I don't have a single apprentice. We all know that I manage both Alchemist and Physician class here. Remember that he said that he used to live on a Physician's house in Eristreas?" Mufar clarified and asked.

"Yes, I remember correctly Mufar but that town is poor! They lack knowledge about medicine and stuff so, why?" Theriud responded in a confused manner.

"Is that so? Let's see... Luis, do you agree if I test you in front of them? If you passed I will accept you as my student, if you fail, you will go to General Studies. What is your answer young man?" Mufar challenged Luis.

"Nothing will be a loss to me since General Studies is also a part of the Divine Prophecy but I will gain a lot if I became your apprentice so, yes! I agree Vice Dean Mufar!" Luis answered, he dropped the "Bro" title since they're on a formal ceremony.

"Okay good! Men! Bring the herbs here!" Mufar shouted.

Two men climbed up the stage as they carry a table with different herbs on it.

"This scroll that I'm holding is the list of these herbs with their levels and uses. If he came to a poor town, he needs to know how to concoct medicine and its uses right? Now, your task is to identify these herbs and tell me their uses and on which potions you could use it." Mufar instructed.

Luis immediately approached the table but these herbs are completely new to him. He didn't know a single detail about these herbs but he has a skill that can take care of them.

Due to his continuous use of the skills during his third exams, he discovered that he can secretly activate the skill by touching the herbs, with no visible signs of the spell being activated.

He touched the red plant with spikey black leaves and a bulb below it.

"This is a Blood Dragon Fruit, it is used to cure flame related diseases such as Fire Poisoning, Flame energy congestion, and many different flame related diseases. It can also be used to help Fire Element or Fire attributed people to boost their power. It can be concocted into Flame Boost Potion, Blazing Body Potion, Calming Flame Pill, and many more." Luis answered as he read every detail that entered his mind.

"This next one is the Crimson Steel Potato, it is usually used as an ingredient for Forging but it can also be used as an ingredient in the Potion of Steel Blood." Luis introduced the red shiny potato he's holding.

"Wait! This is the first time that I heard the Steel Blood Potion! I don't know if you made that up but would you mind explaining to us the use of this potion?" A mentor at the School of Medicine asked.

"Yes of course! Steel Blood Potion is a potion that can be drunk by a person with Steel Element. They will gain additional defense and no Level 1 weapons can pierce through their skin." Luis explained.

"Not so convincing... Would you mind showing us how to concoct it?" The man asked again.

"Sure! I just need a Petal of the Flaming Lily, an ounce of Steel Fanged Tiger's blood..." Luis asked for the ingredients he needed for the potion.

"Oh! Can I borrow an Alchemy Cauldron? I'm poor and I only have one hundred and fifty worth of crystal." Luis shyly asked as he rubbed his nape out of embarrassment.

"If you successfully concocted that potion you're talking about, I will give you this Level 5 Peak Grade Alchemy Cauldron I made as a gift to you." Theriud offered.

"Thank you for your trust Vice Dean Theriud!" Luis thanked.

"But you will pay for it if you fail. That thing costs 10,000 Energy Crystals, so be ready to pay for it if you fail!" Theriud smirked at Luis.

Luis gulped as he started a fire below the furnace.

"Oh! He knows how to use a Level 2 Earth's Flame!" One of the audience exclaimed.

"Quiet please! An alchemist needs a silent environment to concoct medicine." The MC announced.

Luis added the blood on the furnace as he mixed a flower and tons of leaves of different colors and sizes.

"Earth Manipulation: Solid Slab! Terran Weapon: Earth Hammer!" Luis chanted as he placed the potato on the slab and struck it with the hammer.

The potato became red granules and a solid pearl was revealed among the piles of red granules.

"Lucky! There's a Steel Origin Seed inside!" Luis exclaimed as he gathered the red granules and put them on the boiling concoction in the furnace.

He struck the Steel Origin Seed until it was flattened and put it on the concoction. Using his energy, he mixed the concoction continuously for 3 hours and suddenly the fire went out. Luis was drenched with his sweat. He looked like he was still struggling after turning the fire off.

"What is he doing? Isn't this the time that he should put the potion in a vial?" The people whispered.

After another 30 minutes of watching Luis doing something in the furnace, he lifted the lid and from inside, three pills were gleaming with a red light.

"I thought it was a potion? Why is it a pill?" The alchemist asked.

"Because, there was a Steel Origin Seed inside the Crimson Steel Potato so it is better to make it a pill than a potion," Luis explained.

"Who wants to volunteer to try this pill? You should have a Steel element to try!" Mufar announced.

"I want to try that dweeb's pill!" Achilleas volunteered as he stood up and walked towards the stage.

"Before you eat it, I want to tell you that, immediately direct the essence of the pill throughout your body, and the process will be painful for a minute. Will you still take it?" Luis warned.

"I think the kid has doubts about his medicine, he's trying to scare the other kid to step back!" An alchemist sitting below the stage exclaimed.

"I won't back down old man! I'm not a weakling that steps back over a small pain! Come on! Bring it on!" Achilleas challenged.

"Alright! If you say so! But remember my warning! As soon as you eat it direct it..." Luis warned.

"Yeah, yeah! I get it!" Achilleas responded in a bored manner as he snatched a pill and placed it inside his mouth.

The pill immediately melted as soon as he placed it inside his mouth, a strong surge of energy immediately entered his body and he immediately directs it throughout his body as he felt an extreme all around his body.

"Argh! Damn this pill! Did you feed me poison? Argh!" Achilleas groaned as he crouched from the pain.

His skin slowly turned red as it slowly became as glossy as well-polished steel and Achilleas's burly built body became red and glossy.

"Now try to hit him with Level 1 weapons and see if he has the defense that I told you," Luis said as he smiled widely.

Theriud unleashed a long sword.

"This is a Level 1 Long Sword I made out of boredom," Theriud explained as he quickly struck Achilleas's arm with full force.

The Long Sword broke in half and Achilleas's arm was still intact. People exclaimed from what they witnessed. Even the senior alchemists and mentors have a shocked expression on their faces. Mufar was also surprised when the unknown medicine has the effects as stated by the young man.

"We all saw that the young man said the truth about the potion. Nobody would object to my decision as making him my apprentice right?" Mufar announced.

Nobody objected as everyone still has the look of shock on their faces.

The ceremony continued and a dozen or so students were unfortunately rejected and ended up going to General Studies.

"Let's make it all official here, the Apprenticeship Ceremony of the Vice Deans will start now."

"Do you, Achilleas Arion, accept Chisa Bordeau as your Master until the end of your service at this Academy?" Fulgur announced.

"Hell yeah! I want this hot-headed grandma to be my Master!" Achilleas exclaimed.

"You brat!" Chisa smacked Achilleas on the head with a fiery first. A symbol of fire suddenly appeared from the back of the young man's hand.

"Do you, Johanne Serion Menazee, accept Theriud Rigomoria as your Master until the end of your service at this Academy?" Fulgur announced.

"Yes! I gladly accept!" Serion accepted as he put his hand at his front with his palm facing the ground. Theriud placed his hand above the young man's hand and a symbol of a magic circle with a hammer in the middle appeared at the back of Serion's hand.

"Do you, Ignacius Luis Delmont, accept Anciel Mufar Gregorio as your Master until the end of your service at this Academy?" Fulgur announced.

"Yes! I wholeheartedly accept it!" Luis accepted as he does what Serion did.

"I will personally give you my Elite student mark that no one knows because you are the very first apprentice that I have." Mufar smiled as he directed his energy towards Luis's hands.

A scroll with a vial and a quill crossing each other appeared at the back of Luis's hand.

A strange thing suddenly happened after the image appeared.
