Wrath had given us 30 minutes to get our weapons sharpened, make a strategy, and the usual stuff you do before a battle. Of course, that's only for normal demons and demi-demons. Here's our list of things to do for those 30 minutes to get 'ready perfectly' (Anyone gets the reference?).
1. Gather info on Wrath (Sarah says she's on it)
2. Choose our weapons (Mine's a sword permanently)
3. Training Blitz as much as possible (I'll be doing that)
4. Putting the info together and coming up with a strategy (That'll be done by me)
5. Well... there isn't a 5th one :D
Ok fine! The list isn't as long as I teased it to be, but it's hard to complete especially the third and fourth points. "Ok so... here's what I gathered," Sarah informed as she appeared walking out of the crowd. "Wrath is super hard to defeat. He is rumoured to have developed 2 personal chants, but as of now, only one of them is known. It's called [Layman's Foresight]. It's basically a chant that's permanently active and improves his senses to such an extent that Wrath seems to be able to read your every move, and know what you're going to do next, hence the name," Sarah reported.
"But of course, every overpowered chant has a drawback," I added. "There is. This chant will only work as efficiently if Wrath's mind is clear, so if we manage to just surprise him or get him angry, which according to rumors is really easy to do, we could deactivate this chant. The reason he keeps it active at all times is that once it deactivates, there's apparently a huge cooldown for the chant," Sarah continued. "Looks like we already have a plan ready," I smiled. "Damn, it hasn't even been 5 minutes, and yet here we have a strategy!" Jason rejoiced.
"We're going to focus on surprising or angering Wrath, and even though rumors say it's easy, I'm not the one to completely believe rumors, but we should be on the lookout for the second personal chant at all times," I explained. "Right now, we probably need to train Lil Blitz here," I added, looking over to the silent Azar wolf pup that was obediently sitting behind me. "What the hell? Is that a familiar? Is that yours?" Jason excitedly asked. "It's a long story, I'll tell you later. For now, this is a Purple-grade Azar Wolf pup that hatched just a few hours ago," I informed. "A PURPLE-GRADE?" Jason and Sarah yelled out loud.
Everyone's gaze followed the loud yell and found the pup in my arms. Even Wrath looked towards Blitz when he heard 'Purple-grade' be mentioned. "*Sigh* Keep it down!" I scolded, but it was too late. Every demon and demi-demon in the vicinity now looked at the wolf pup. With so many of them watching him, little Blitz hid his face timidly.
"Those eyes, it's definitely a Purple-grade familiar!"
"Holy crap! I thought there were only 2 Purple-grade familiars in the entirety of Hell!"
"You're kidding me? You mean this little Azar wolf pup is now the 3rd Purple-grade familiar to ever exist?"
"Damn, how lucky can this kid get? First breaking the crystal ball and getting trained under all the 7 Generals, and now a Purple-grade familiar?"
"He's a cheat! He must have some chant that grants him super luck or something,"
"Brother, there's no chant that can increase one's luck,"
"And we thought there was a higher chance for everything to turn to ash than hatching a Purple-grade familiar. Any pattern catches your eye?"
"You have a point..."
The crowd began discussing this in hushed voices and began theorizing absurd things, but one of these rumors caught my ear. "A luck-enhancing chant? Interesting! A chant that increases one's luck, eh? This is an idea I'll keep in mind," I thought to myself and made a mental note to work on a luck chant.
"Now, now! Settle down!" Wrath warned, his killing intent accidentally spilled out for a split second, but he quickly reeled it back. That split-second spill was good enough to shut everyone up. No one even dared to look at me or Blitz again, neither did they look at Wrath. They went back to doing what they were doing.
"Wow, now that's some killing intent-" I stopped myself when I realized they weren't talking, in fact, they were frozen in fear. "H-how are y-you not affected b-by it..." Sarah stuttered, slowly overcoming it. "*Sigh* I wish I knew the answer," I sighed. I looked over to Jason, who was in much better shape than Sarah. "Don't even ask. I'm used to his killing intent," Jason looked away. I decided to ask him later and turned around to face Blitz.
"Ready for your training, little guy?" I inquired
"Nyaaw~!" Blitz replied with enthusiasm.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Faith!" I called out. "Yes, Master?" Faith popped back into existence. "It's time, use it," I hinted. "Got it!" Faith exclaimed and began chanting. I waited for her to finish when everything around me slowed down. The chant was successful. Blitz could see things go slowly as well, and got spooked.
If you're wondering what happened, let me enlighten you. Faith fused Pride's imprisonment chant and the chant that enhanced my senses, creating a new chant, which I conveniently call [Trainer's Heaven], because I would only ever use this chant for training, because of some severe side effects like nausea, which wouldn't be pleasant in the middle of a battle. It basically creates a zone for one or more where their senses are enhanced to such an extent, that they perceive time slowly. [Devil's Knight] was also upgraded with Pride's Healing chant, allowing me to heal as I inflict damage, just like my [Pyro Blades]. There were many more new chants that were created and named, but I'm too lazy to list them all now, so I'll bring them up when required.
"Ready when you are, little pup," I challenged Blitz.
"Awwwoooooo~!" Blitz howled in excitement.
"Give me all you've got!"
I smirked and ran towards the little wolf pup, obviously holding back a little. But never did I expect the result of the little friendly spar between me and Blitz to go sideways.
