Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The human race has always been so naive. Naive to the true power and influence they have over their home land, Midgard. They have been consumed by greed and power for as long as I can remember. The first men started the plague on this world, and we had to save them from their own creation. We destroyed them utterly from the roots, or so we though. Why do we continuously help a race to naive to help their own kin? Because its what we were made to do, what we were created for.

The first sensation I felt was the ability to draw in my own breath once again. I could feel my lungs expand and deflate with every breath I took. The smell around me spread like wild flower, I could tell I was in my chambers, where I have been for the past hundred centuries. A sound of a small bird landing on the balcony near my chambers startled me, my eyes opened suddenly to the sound. The opened drapes to my balcony left me blinded as my eyes failed to adjust to the sunlight, my eyes hadn't seen sun in years. I shielded my eyes from the sun with my forearm.

"By Odin's beard whoever has opened these drapes before I awoke is going to hear about it" I murmured to myself as my sore eyes finally adjusted. I looked around my chambers, my eyes still hazed, everything was left exactly where it should be. A small layer of dust covered all of my belongings. My chamber is the largest in all of the realm and at the highest point of the castle, away from everyone so I was able to slumber in peace. The dark cobblestone covered the walls, ceiling and floors, pelt rugs covered parts of the chamber floors giving it extra comfort and warmth. My bed was positioned facing the large dark timber door, to my right was a large stone fireplace. Over to my left, the balcony. It was simple, but the only time I ever spent here was to rest and slumber. I faced the edge of my pelt covered bed and placed my feet on the floor. The cold stone was uncomfortable at first, but my aching body needed to adjust. I stood up slowly using my bed posts as support. A few shaky steps later and I was on my way to the balcony. As I stood by the doorway I took in a breath as a light breeze blew through. I could sense it was Autumn, Winter would soon be upon us. Judging by the sun colour, it was mid morning. The smell of ocean mist, blooming flowers and fresh grass filled my nose.

I smiled to myself as I walked out the door, this place gave me so much inner peace. Using the edge of the stone balcony as support I looked over my realm, my home lands. To the West of the castle, a few hundred metres away from the large cliff faces and beach, was the large village that surrounded the castle. Focusing, I could smell the fresh foods, baked goods and meats that had all been laid out for today's markets. The villages were always full of life, with my warriors patrolling the village, everyone lived in peace. Everyone had a home, a currency and a job. A simple, equal life for all. I looked to the East, it was open ocean, perfect training grounds for our warriors in long ships and for us who took to the skies to fight. The water seemed calm today as it crashed softly by the shore line. The ocean went as far as the eye could see, calm and blissful. Fifth-teen kilometres from the shore was a small island, around the island was sharp rock formations and low shore lines. Only the Companions used this place, it was sacred ground to us. We used this island to discuss sensitive matters, matters that our people were not ready to hear. Upon the small island is a sanctuary where we made sacrifice to Odin and the Gods. I took a deep breath and my eyes fell upon the North, the snow covered mountains looked clear and crisp this morning. As I surveyed my home, I heard footsteps climbing the stairs towards my chamber. Before the door was opened, I could sense who it was.

"Keon, you're awake before me?" I asked as I still looked over the balcony.

"Aye, nothing gets past you now does it?" Keon said joyfully closing my door behind him. I turned to face my companion behind me. Keon was the second companion created and my Master of War, he assists in training our warriors. Keon is the descendant of Thor, God of Thunder. He stood at seven foot four, all Gods were tall, with a large built frame full of muscle. A face full of red beard and a top cut which was braided and wrapped in leather, his long wrapped hair reached his tail bone. His bright emerald eyes shining. His brown leather armour was custom fit to show his battle scars and tattoos, our symbol of a red dragon engraved into the chest piece. He wore his large auburn fur cloak to keep him self warm in the coming cold. Keon and I embraced in a strong hug.

"It feels like it was only yesterday I last saw your face." He said with a smile.

"Hundreds of centuries feels like a day." I said. We ended our embrace as Keon made himself proper once again, flicking his long braid back over his shoulder

"Aye. The people from the flight deck have called for a meeting today sometime, but Rokii has asked if we can all go for a feast first. A good awakening if you ask me, I could go for a plate of bacon." Keon said, his strong Norse accent made his words sound angry. I smiled at his mention of feasting, he claimed he was the God of feasting and drinking. My mind quickly wondered to Rokii, the last Companion created.

"Rokii, why was he awoken before us?" I asked.

"I'm not sure, it would be something you will need to discuss with him yourself."

"You may also want to bathe and changed before heading to the halls. That gown is, uh, revealing." Keon said with a wink before turning and heading towards my door. I looked down mortified as I realised I was in my light cotton sleeping gown, the material was see through in this sun and the cold morning breeze had made my nipples grow erect. I covered my breasts as I walked back into my chambers.

After I had bathed, changed into something more appropriate, I made my way to the mirror to fix my hair. I took a moment to observe my appearance. Unfortunately when Odin created me, he neglected my height. I was always told that it was a good thing, people underestimated me frequently. I was short but I made up for this in power, my enemies underestimated me, but it fueled the fire that burns in me. My five foot six body was small compared to the others. My curvy figure had lost some of its touch, slumbering for thousands of years took its toll. My tanned skin was quiet pale, my long dark auburn hair was dull and needing life. And my eyes, they never changed. I looked up to be faced with bright, ruby red eyes that burned though my own skull. I could see as fire and flames danced in them, wanting to be unleashed, to show the world we're back. But I submerged those thoughts and continued to braid my hip length hair. The Creations eyes reflect their inner beasts. The one thing that gives us away, brightly illuminated eyes. Once I was happy with my hair, I grabbed my white cloak and wrapped it around my body. My amour was similar to Keon's but it was black and more close fitting. Grabbing my two large battle axes and swinging them onto my back, I left my chambers and begun walking down the small flight of stairs that led up to my chambers. The large open hallway at the bottom of the stairs were guarded by two warriors. My chamber is the only one on this level, the others are located at least 3 stories under. As I went to take the long dreaded walk down the stairs I was confronted by a guard.

"My Queen, during your time of slumber, the designer had created a new and easier was to navigated the stairs." He said promptly. I looked at the stairs and back to the guard.

"Go on." I said intrigued. He lead me to a door, the substance was unknown to me. The pressed a small circle near the door and they slid open. I stepped back ready to grab my dual swords from my back.

"What monstrosity is this! Where are the doors?! What is this substance!?" I yelled stepping back, scarring both guards.

"My apologies! I did not mean to scare you, this is what is called an elevator. Its a simple creation that carries people from one floor to another. It is safe and practical." The guard reassured me.

I slowly let go of my swords and walked towards the elevator.

"Step inside. Within 1 minute you will be on the bottom floor where the feasting hall is." The guard said, motioning for me to step inside. I stepped inside the small box, looking around as if I were a cat in a box. Before I knew if, I looked back to see the doors closing.

"Wait!" I yelled trying to catch the doors but failed, my heart started to beat a triumph of tunes. Before I knew it it felt as it the fall was falling beneath me and my stomach was in my throat.

"That guard tricked me!" I yelled, kicking the doors and walls. My bursts of anger damaged the door and the elevator begun making scream sounds as I felt it slow. Before it has stopped I launched myself though the doors and onto the cold stone floor. I looked up to see 6 guards dumbfounded at why I had destroyed a elevator. But to my surprise, I was on the bottom floor. I looked back at the elevator, the doors were gone and there were strange orange lights bursting from it. The guards looked at it in shock.

"Carry on." I announced after clearing my throat and walking away from my embarrassing entrance. Before heading to the feasting hall, I stopped into the throne room. Two guards positioned out side opened the large wooden doors as I walked through. The throne room was large, 6 huge pillars held the ceiling up high. Each was ebony stone and engraved with golden runes and drawings. Large antler chandelier lights hung from the ceiling, illuminated by candles. Behind the throne was a large, clear glass window that stretched from wall to ceiling, with a view of the ocean behind it. Then the throne, my throne. It was forged by ebony, with ruby red streaks running through it like veins. I was named Queen and ruler of this world when I was created.

"One who can control the power of Anacalongon, can control the power of the world." Is what Odin said to me before sending me to Midgard. I ran my fingers along the cold stone, reminiscing one the last time I sat in this throne. We had just stopped the first plague of Dark Knights, the hall was filled of warriors drinking and singing. It was truly a glorious night.

"Reminiscing are you?" Asked a familiar voice. I turned to face Koda and Ivarr, the twin creations of Goddess Freyja. They were identical, 7 ft 3 with light brown hair always short and neatly cut. Their figures were strong but slim and their eyes were as golden as the halls of Valhalla. The only thing that could tell them apart was Ivarr's tattoos. Ivarr had a tattoo of a large serpent around his bicep and forearm.

"Brothers, I said as I walked towards them both embracing in a hug. It feels like only yesterday we were saying our goodbyes before heading to our slumbers. But our embrace was cut short when I felt another presence approaching.

"Its such a joyful feeling to watch your companions embrace together before reaching out to their first awoken brother." Said a voice, I turned to see a hooded figure emerging from behind the throne.

"Rokii, its good to see you." I said with a nod, not moving an inch. Rokii was the creation of Loki, The God of Mischief. He removed his hood to reveal his slim figure. He stood at 7ft 1, with long black hair and very little stubble. His once two purple eyes were now one as a scar that stretched from his forehead to his jaw line. The scar destroyed his right eye, leaving it pure white. He spoke very little and chooses to always cover his face. During the battle of the first men, Rokii's mind became persuaded and infected by the dark knights. Causing him to turn against us without our knowledge. One night, he made an attempt on my life to secure the throne for himself. Keon had caught a drift of his actions and stopped him before he could, resulting in the scar. Things have been, tense for sometime now.

"My dear Queen, please do not lie to me. Neither of us have the time for it, respectfully. Please, let us eat then discuss the upcoming missions." Rokii said as he walked towards the feasting halls, pulling his hood over before entering. As he opened the wooden door, you could hear Keon bellowing out in laughter along side his warriors. He was in his element.

"Koda, can you get Sigi from the top floor to debrief me as soon as possible?" I asked, my eyes never leaving where Rokii once stood.

"My suspicion has never lead me astray to this day." I said as the doors to the feasting halls closed.

"I will have the team brief us as soon as we have eaten. I don't know about you lot, but I am starved." Koda said as he made his way to the feasting halls. We all soon followed as I felt my stomach pang in agony, I was too hungry after centuries of not eating.
