"Where have you been? We have been looking for you everywhere. The program is about to start." Cynthia whined when she saw Chantel and Kevin entering the hall.
"I and Kev stepped out for a while. We just went out for some air. Anyway, Kevin. Let me introduce you to my best friends. This is Cynthia and that is Adiepena."
"I already met Cynthia some time ago. But I have not met Adiepena yet. I am glad to officially meet you girls again." Kevin said with a smile.
"Same here, Kevin. Chantel has been telling us a lot about you so I am glad to have finally met you." Adiepena replied with a smile.
Cynthia just rolled her eyes. She was not the kind to pretend. She wanted to be nice to Kevin for Chantel's sake, but she just did not like the boy. She just could not bring herself to like him. Yet, she tried to hide her true feelings from her friends.
"So, love birds, are we going to sit down and enjoy this program, or what?" Cynthia said, sounding annoyed. Then she saw Nadia looking at them, looking very angry and disgusted. Cynthia quickly looked away, and went back to talking to Chantel and the others.
Chantel and Kevin kept looking at each other with silly grins on their faces. Cynthia rolled her eyes again and shook her head.
Nadia was standing at the other side of the door with her two friends, visibly shaking. She had taken notice of Chantel and Kevin, who were looking at each other with love eyes. She wished Kevin was looking at her like that. She was almost in tears when she saw how much they looked in love with each other.
"Look at them. Why is Kevin doing this to me?" Nadia ran out of the hall and her friends ran after her. They caught up with her at the car park.
"Nadia, wait! Come on, Nadia. Are you okay?"
"How can I be okay, when the boy I like is all lovey dovey with another girl? How can I be possibly be okay?" Nadia cried out.
"Nadia, calm down and breath. Kevin is not worth your tears. Come on, just let him go. He is with Chantel now and nothing can change that. Maybe you should just forget him," Akua said.
"Never. I will never leave him for that twig. That girl might think she has won over me, but, I will have the last laugh. She will definitely pay for all the tears I have shed." Nadia wiped the tears falling from her eyes dramatically and turned back into the hall. Naa Shika and Akua just followed her silently. They did not know what else to say to make Nadia understand that Kevin did not like her.
When they got back inside, the program had already started. And a girl was standing in front of the students singing. She had a good voice and she sang so beautifully. After she was done, everybody clapped and cheered her on. She smiled so beautifully as she walked away. Then a group of boys were called. They were dancers. Chantel and the girls were really enjoying themselves.
Finally, everything was done, and the DJ decided to play some music for everyone to dance. Kevin decided to dance with Chantel and joined the other students on the dance floor while Cynthia and Adiepena also danced together. As the two love birds were dancing and laughing, Nadia walked up to them.
"Will you like to dance with me, Kevin?" Nadia asked her, holding the belt of her dress, flirtatiously.
Kevin rolled his eyes and took a deep breath, while Chantel stood beside him.
"What do you want, Nadia?" he asked her.
"I just want to dance with you. I don't think your girlfriend will mind at all," she smiled, hoping that the boy will say yes to her.
"Listen, Nadia. Please stop bothering me. I don't want to dance with you. As you can see, I and Chantel were in the middle of something before you came. Please go," he said and turned to Chantel, who just smiled slightly at him.
"Why are you doing this to me? Can't you see how much I love and care about you?"
"Nadia, please. Not now. You are embarrassing yourself in public. Stop it," Kevin whispered when he turned to her again.
"Is it because of her? Is it because of this girl that's why you are behaving like this with me? Kevin, I love you. Don't do this to me," tears escaped from her eyes once more.
Kevin sighed and turned to Chantel. "Baby, can you please give me a minute? I need to talk to Nadia. Please, I will be right back."
Chantel nodded and closed her eyes as Kevin kissed her forehead, then left with Nadia. When they had gone some distance away from the hall, Kevin's expression changed.
"What was the meaning of that, Nadia? What were you trying to prove out there?" he asked, raising his voice a bit.
"Kevin, I just told you how I feel about you. What I feel for you hasn't changed. Instead, it has grown stronger. Please, Kevin, give me a chance to prove my love for you. Give me a chance to love you and you will see that there is a difference between me and Chantel. Please Kevin."
"I want you to get this into your head. I love only Chantel and no one else. She is the girl I want and I know she loves me too because she has shown me that so many times. So please, stop this. I don't want your love. Give it to the person who deserves it."
"Kevin, please don't do this... "
"Nadia, I have said what I needed to say. I have to go back. My girlfriend is in there waiting for me. And I don't want her to wait for too long. So, I will see you around."
He turned and left her all alone by herself. Nadia stood there with tears in her eyes. She was the kind of girl who always got what she wanted. So, when she realised she could not have Kevin, it was breaking her into pieces. She continued to cry and her tears fell freely from her face.
