Chapter 32 - Darkness

Darkness... darkness was all which Sylia could see in front of her eyes. And in the dark pitched surroundings her heartbeat was racing at the fastest speed. No matter how much she tried to widen her eyes but what came to her sight was only darkness. Running from one corner to another corner, she tried to find something but no matter where she was running to, she could not see anything. Not even a single source of bright light could be seen.

"Is there anybody?" Sylia shouted and asked. As expected not a single reply to her question came out. She was distressed. She was scared. She was anxious.

Darkness has always scared her since childhood and today as well it was no different. She was beyond scared. Gathering up her courage she again yelled and questioned.

" Can anybody help me out?"

Sylia could not help but cry out in fear. But there was nobody to hear her cries. There was nobody to hear her sobbing voice and there was nobody who could help her or answer her. The single ray of hope in her heart of going out of this place was slowly and steadily disappearing. It seemed she was going to get trapped here forever and ever.

Her breath started to get uneven as she felt a heavy weight on her chest which was being pressed and pressed on with each passing second. She tried to gasp up with her mouth and suck in as much air as she could but nothing was helping her out. Her lungs were slowly and slowly giving up and seemed that they had stopped gasping for air.

Her eyelids were too heavy to open so that she could find and ask anybody to help. Yet she did not lose any hope.

"Anybody... Anybody please come and help me... I... Am unable to... Breath. Please, please help me." Gathering the last breath which was left inside her body, finally she muttered but her voice was so low that she was afraid that even if she heard what she had just said?

Her head seemed to be spinning around as the same heaviness which she felt on her chest seemed to be slowly passing on to her head.

Her head was so much in so much of pain that she had to clutch her head with both of her hands as she squeezed her eyes.

"Stop it. Stop! Please make it stop." Sylia could not help but mumble inwardly. This pain was making her insane. It was uncontrollable.

She felt that she was going to fell down inside a hollow dark body. Her whole body felt so light that even a single breeze would blow her away. Her soul seems to be leaving her body as none of her limbs were working right now. Feeling light headed she felt very calm and light as if there were no powers left inside her body and she was just leisurely sleeping.

"Ahh!" All of a sudden her eyes flew open and she sat straight on the bed. Her forehead was covered in sweat and even her flings of hair sticked on her forehead. Beads of sweat were apparent on her forehead and on her face as well. There was no colour on her face. It was as if her face had lost all its colour. She looked pale, completely pale.

Taking deep breaths she tried to calm her down and looked around to find water. She stared on the jug of water and was just about to pull off the blankets on top of her when all of a sudden the jug of water lifted up slightly from its place. She was so frightened with the incident that she almost cried out and placed her both the hands in front of her eyes. Since the connection between her eyes and the jug had been interrupted as the spell which was currently between them also got broken, the jug fell on the ground.

Making a loud crash the jug was now broken into pieces.

Sylia opened her eyes slightly and saw that the jug was broken into pieces and the water had all over splattered on the surface. Sighing to herself she looked around and soon found another jar kept on the other side of the bed. The jar which was on the other side looked different from the earlier one. It seemed that it was made from gold as it was shining brightly even in the dark pitched room.

Just like the last time when she stared at the jug inwardly, maybe she was hoping that it might come near her and as she was hoping the jug as well lifted up slightly from its original position and was about to move towards Sylia. This time as well Sylia was surprised but she did not broke the stare this time. She understood that this was a spell and it somehow got inside her.

She quickly grabbed the jug when it came near her and drank a few mouthful gulps of water to satisfy her thirst. Now she felt relieved. Placing the jar near the bedside table she closed her eyes as she tried to calm herself. But in the next moment a surprising flashback flashed in front of her eyes...

Was it a memory or her powers, which were showing her real identity?
