After escaping from the chained axe maniac, there was no further pursuit. Qin Guanglin still walked in front, with He Fang holding his hand, no longer afraid as she had been at the beginning, and calmly followed him, walking slowly.
"Why aren't you scared anymore?" As they neared the exit, he turned his head to ask.
He Fang smiled up at him, "When you held me and ran, I stopped being scared."
"I... ah!" Qin Guanglin was about to speak when the ground suddenly shook violently, nearly making him jump. The mannequins were there just to scare people, but this thing had a physical impact.
"Be careful, this is the last trap," he said, looking down at the large metal plate that moved under his feet, wondering where the force came from.
He Fang took a big step, avoiding the plate, then walked forward two more steps and lifted a curtain. Suddenly, the view opened up.
"Congratulations on passing Ghost City Mysterious." The chubby man had taken off his mask at some point, his round face smiling at them. "Take care on your way out."
"Something big chased us inside." Qin Guanglin eyed the fat man's face suspiciously. "Was it you?"
"No, not at all; there are no staff inside now." The fat man waved his hands hastily. "It's a ghost city, anything unusual is possible."
"Thanks for your hard work." Qin Guanglin heard the wordplay and didn't dwell on the issue, holding He Fang's small hand as they walked out.
"What to play next?" With the park's navigation guide in hand, Qin Guanglin reviewed what was left to explore.
He Fang took the half-empty Sea Words from his hand and naturally took a sip, "To the exit."
"Want to leave already?" Qin Guanglin asked, accepting the Sea Words she handed back, feeling thirsty but embarrassed to open and drink it.
How did she manage to act so naturally?! Qin Guanglin felt his cheeks warm a bit. In his experienced mind, they'd just started dating not too long ago, and holding hands should be enough. Yet here they were, with kisses and hugs—and even touching—albeit under special circumstances, the progress was still a bit too fast. It needed to slow down.
Yes, taking it slow was better.
"To get something." He Fang simply led him forward, "Then we'll come back to play."
The thing was the box she had brought into the park. Qin Guanglin asked again what it was, but she just shook her head, leading him to the boat dock.
In the center of the park was a large lake, covering more than half of the park's area. Over twenty pedal boats were docked there, the kind requiring people to pedal, not too fast, just for leisurely play.
"This way, please." The staff at the boat dock, a tall and thin young man with a large straw hat, guided them inside.
"I want two bags of fish food." With the box in hand, He Fang couldn't get her wallet, so she gestured for Qin Guanglin to pay.
In the lake was a large school of carp, a big red group with threads of golden color mixed in. Occasionally, one jumped out of the water, creating ripples.
Qin Guanglin, with the two purchased bags of fish food, sat in the boat with He Fang. The young man with the straw hat untied the rope at the bow and gave it a gentle push. The boat drifted away from the shore into the lake.
He Fang chose a four-seater boat just for the two of them. This larger boat, compared to the two-seaters, had an extra square protrusion in the middle, where she placed her box. Qin Guanglin speculated she chose the larger boat because of this protrusion.
He tried pedaling a couple of times and found it quite easy. He Fang had already opened a bag of fish food and scattered a handful to the side, causing the fish to go wild, with a mass of red quickly swarming over.
Finding it interesting, Qin Guanglin watched as the carp, having claimed the area where the fish food was scattered, began competing for food, half of their bodies sticking out of the water, gulping air.
He Fang handed the bag of fish food to him, and Qin Guanglin tossed a small handful, causing the fish to become even more agitated. A few even flicked their tails to leap up, while some were squeezed to the surface, flipping over before falling back.
"You can't feed in the same place. Sprinkle it by the boat, and they'll follow us to the center of the lake," He Fang said as she demonstrated, sprinkling a small handful of fish food, leading a large school of fish that followed their boat in a triangle formation.
"Bit by bit, right?" Qin Guanglin gazed at the scene, feeling completely relaxed, a sense of tranquility washing over him.
"Yes, step by step." He Fang gave him a meaningful look.
Qin Guanglin, feeling slightly uneasy under her gaze, scratched his head, took a sip of water, then hesitated momentarily while screwing the cap back on, glancing at He Fang out of the corner of his eye.
Seeing He Fang smilingly staring at him, he feigned nonchalance and looked elsewhere. "Ahem... how was your exam today?"
"The Mandarin exam is very simple." He Fang tossed another handful of fish food onto the lake.
Qin Guanglin was somewhat surprised, "What's the point of taking that test?"
"I also need to take the teacher's qualification exam; it's a requirement," she said casually. "I'll become a language teacher in the future."
Qin Guanglin was even more surprised, "You want to be a teacher?"
"Why not?" He Fang raised her eyebrows.
"That's not what I meant..." Qin Guanglin gestured with his hands and then put them down. In his impression, language teachers were stern and intimidating. He couldn't imagine He Fang frowning and scolding students.
"Just an elementary school language teacher, with winter and summer vacations, leisurely and with fewer tasks." She seemed to have already planned her future life, then corrected her posture and coughed twice. "Classmate Qin, what do you think of Teacher He's lecture?"
"Hmm... it has a certain appeal." Qin Guanglin realized that her posing that way did indeed give off a teacher-like vibe, especially her gaze.
After a moment, he continued, "But I heard teaching is really tiring, having to write lesson plans, grade assignments, and make teaching schedules all day, not as leisurely as you say."
"Do you know, or do I know?" He Fang shot him a look. "From now on, I'll call you Classmate Qin, and you'll call me Teacher He, letting me experience being a teacher in advance."
"I refuse." Qin Guanglin declined. He was two years older than her; how could he possibly call her teacher? "I'm older, so you should call me Brother Qin."
"Lover," He Fang licked her lips softly, moving closer. "I agree."
"No, just call me by my name," Qin Guanglin quickly stopped her.
Why did everything she said seem to change its flavor?
"Brother?" He Fang called sweetly again.
"Calling me Classmate Qin is just fine, let's stick with Classmate Qin." Qin Guanglin's ears turned red as he compromised.
"Call me Teacher He, let me hear it?"
This woman was truly mischievous.
