"Can you send us the electronic version of the original?" He Fang asked the young man again.
The young man, waiting for the photos to come out with a laminated sheet, said casually, "There's no internet connection in the park, so I can't send it to you."
"I have a USB drive." She fished a panda-shaped USB drive out of her small bag and pressed it lightly to reveal the plug.
He was taken aback, not expecting He Fang to have a USB drive, which made him a bit troubled. "Saying there's no internet is just an excuse. Actually, the company has a policy against giving out electronic versions..."
If they gave away the electronic version, who would still print photos? Nowadays, prints are not popular; people prefer to store them on their phones for easy access.
"I've already printed the photo." He Fang pointed to the photo halfway out of the printer.
"If the company finds out..."
"I'll add ten yuan."
He Fang interrupted him before he could finish, placing the panda USB on the table.
"Alright." The young man looked at the photo and then at the panda, compromising—ten yuan was easy money.
He plugged the USB into the computer, clicked a few times to cut the photo over, then took the freshly printed photo from the printer and laminated it. "Thirty for the photo, forty in total."
He Fang had the money ready and placed forty yuan on the table upon hearing this, patiently waiting for him to process the photo.
"Done." A moment later, the young man handed over the photo and USB; He Fang accepted the photo, and Qin Guanglin took the panda and put it back into her small bag.
Once out of the cabin, He Fang kept looking at the photo with a delighted expression.
Qin Guanglin took her hand and looked around, "Where to next?"
"Here you go." He Fang handed him the photo, then pointed in a direction, "Let's walk this way."
"Why not get two copies?"
Qin Guanglin took the photo and examined it closely; it was well-taken, and he really liked it.
"Why get two?" He Fang countered, "Do you want to separate from me?"
"How could I?" Qin Guanglin didn't understand how having two photos related to separation.
"One is enough." He Fang shook their clasped hands. "Over there, it's the drop tower."
The park's thrilling main attractions were the three He Fang mentioned initially; the others were a level below. Even so, Qin Guanglin and He Fang took nearly two hours to experience most of the attractions.
Hand in hand, they strolled through the park's paths. He Fang seemed still full of energy, while Qin Guanglin was a bit fatigued from the thrills.
The park's landscaping was well-done, with different plants in each area. He Fang's eyes lit up at a distant flower bed, and she pulled Qin Guanglin straight over.
"Come, let's take a selfie." She pulled Qin Guanglin in front of the flowers, looping her arm through his, "Look at the camera."
Qin Guanglin cooperatively made a peace sign as He Fang scrunched her little nose and looked at him, "I'll throw away all your plaid shirts; they're too dorky."
"What's dorky about plaid shirts?" Qin Guanglin was displeased; he'd chosen these with great care.
"The style you picked is dorky, and the color. Look." He Fang showed him the freshly taken photo, "And this peace sign, who still does that?"
Qin Guanglin looked it over and thought it was fine. How was it as bad as she said? "I think it's alright. It looks bright and cheerful."
"No way, retake it." He Fang was unsatisfied. "Scoot closer, yes, put the peace sign down, or you can just hold me."
After taking another shot, she reviewed it again, still unsatisfied. "Again, your expression is too serious, relax a bit, smile, smile more happily."
"I think it's fine. Every picture is pretty good," Qin Guanglin said, not finding any issues in the photos they already took.
"Again, don't be so stiff; put your arm around me, lower it, right, don't move." He Fang took a couple more shots with her phone and was finally satisfied.
"Are we done? Let's move on to see other places." Qin Guanglin sighed in relief.
"Come here on this side, it'll look better from this angle." He Fang pulled him from the left to the right.
"No more pictures, that's enough." Qin Guanglin refused, "There are still places we haven't explored."
"Hurry up, just one last shot." He Fang urged.
"Let's go." Qin Guanglin pulled her, eager to leave. Wasn't that enough photos?
"One last shot, one last shot." He Fang tugged at him, and when he still hesitated, she glared playfully. "If you don't cooperate, I'll kiss you!"
"..."
Qin Guanglin pursed his lips, wanting to push back to make her fulfill that playful threat but feared it'd seem too deliberate as if he were making her do it. That felt wrong.
After a moment's hesitation, he obediently stood on the right, letting He Fang continue snapping away.
Women were indeed deceivers; she promised one last shot, but it ended two shots later.
"Done, let's go explore somewhere else." She was satisfied, swiping through the photos on her phone, "I'm setting this as my wallpaper, hmm... I'll send this one to you, set it as yours too."
There was a chime from his pocket; the photo had already arrived on Qin Guanglin's phone.
"Okay, I'll do it in a bit." Qin Guanglin glanced at her phone, where the home screen showed a photo of them with heads touching. He looked a bit silly—or rather, the plaid shirt did.
"No, do it now, get your phone out." He Fang insisted, urging him to finish it immediately.
Qin Guanglin had no choice but to pull out his phone, replacing the scenic wallpaper with their photo as he slowly walked forward.
"Done." He waved the phone at He Fang before pocketing it and looking ahead, "Thirsty? Let's take a break in the rest area and buy a drink."
"Sure." He Fang nodded, content, and quickening her pace as they headed toward a small house shaped like a large mushroom. The rest areas in the park were styled like various plants.
"What do you want to drink?" Qin Guanglin eyed the price list with dismay. Expensive! A bottle of cola for six yuan, bottled water at five; the prices here were outrageous.
"This one." He Fang had already taken an apple-flavored yogurt drink from the fridge, also grabbing a bottle of Sea Words for him. "You like this one, right?"
Qin Guanglin nodded; the selection was limited. He didn't like fizzy drinks, leaving just bottled water and Sea Words as options.
Once they'd paid and sat at a nearby table, He Fang unwrapped a straw, pierced her drink, and slowly sipped until the box made a slurping sound from the air entering it. Enjoying it, she set the empty box down, eyes half-closed, with a contented sigh.
Qin Guanglin watched as a small drop of yogurt lingered on her rosy lips, marked by the straw. As he wondered if yogurt drinks might taste better, the tip of a little pink tongue slipped out, rolled it back in, leaving him unable to continue watching.
