Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Why Do Bad Things Secretly?

When he opened the door, Qin Guanglin saw He Fang rolling around on the bed; she stopped when she heard the noise and looked toward the door.

"I didn't know what you liked, so I bought a bit of everything," Qin Guanglin said as he lifted the bag of snacks to show her.

"The girlfriend title perks kicked in this quickly?" He Fang was surprised as she took the bag, "I thought it would take time to teach you; you've gotten smarter."

What did she mean by that? Was she underestimating someone with rich emotional experiences like me?

Qin Guanglin plopped down onto the bed, "What perks do boyfriends get?"

He Fang had already ripped open a bag of chips, and upon hearing his question, she picked up a piece and held it to his lips, "This, giving you the first chip is a perk."

He hesitated for 0.3 seconds before he gulped down the chip. Now that they were dating, it didn't count as teasing.

"Is that all?" He thought it was crispy, fragrant, and delicious.

"What else do you want?" He Fang tilted her head, looking at him and gently licking the corner of her mouth.

Qin Guanglin noticed her movement and suddenly thought of orange-flavored lip balm when he saw her pink lips and instinctively licked his lips too.

What did he want? His gaze shifted up, and when he saw He Fang's eyes, he felt something was off.

"Oh, you want this..." He Fang's eyes blinked twice, and she slowly leaned closer.

"What?!" Qin Guanglin dodged slightly, his feeling of dread increasing.

He could already feel her breath. Qin Guanglin watched her nervously. Suddenly, He Fang fell back onto the bed, munching on chips and flashed him a smile, "If you want something, come and get it yourself."

Qin Guanglin felt he was being teased again. Angrily, he leaned over—I'm her boyfriend now, does she think I'm afraid?!

It's not like we haven't kissed!

"The water's boiling," Qin's Mom said as she opened the door with a kettle, then closed it again, "Oops, I was mistaken, the water's not boiling yet. Getting old makes your eyes unreliable."

"..."

Qin Guanglin turned over and lay on the bed, feeling his heart pounding. Just being near her got him like this—it wouldn't do, he needed to seek some advice on this.

Are all women such seductresses?!

He Fang propped herself up with her arms and watched him with a smile. Qin Guanglin felt a bit embarrassed, so he turned his back to her.

She crawled quietly to Qin Guanglin's side and whispered in his ear, "I'm pregnant."

"What?!" Qin Guanglin's eyes widened as he snapped up to look at He Fang.

"I'm having a baby," He Fang said, stroking her belly with a shy expression.

"..." Qin Guanglin's lips moved twice, "When did this happen?"

"You didn't know?" She gave Qin Guanglin a look and pulled his hand onto her belly, "Feel it."

He dumbly felt the soft warmth under his hand, "Whose is it?"

"Yours."

"Mine?"

"Yes," He Fang smiled mischievously like a little fox.

He sprang off the bed, wide-eyed at He Fang.

"You kissed me last night," He Fang said, glancing at him from under lowered lashes, "A kiss on the lips, and there's a baby."

"It was you who kissed me, so it's you who'll have a baby!" Qin Guanglin was livid—this woman was playing him again, how wicked!

He angrily lay back down, turning his back to He Fang—getting pregnant from a kiss? Childish!

He Fang laughed heartily, her face full of smug satisfaction at her successful prank. She picked up the bag of chips with two fingers and poured the broken chips into her mouth, crunching them down before lying next to Qin Guanglin.

Her soft little hand snaked around Qin Guanglin's waist, tickling him. He reached over to grab the mischievous hand, gently squeezed it, and felt a bit better, closing his eyes to rest.

He didn't sleep all night—who knew when the drowsiness hit; when Qin Guanglin opened his eyes, the room had dimmed. He turned over, came to his senses, and reached to the side—it was empty.

Where was He Fang?

He sat up to find himself covered with a thin blanket. Looking around, he saw the curtains were half-drawn, and the desk was neatly tidied with some leftover snacks placed at the edge.

Did she leave...

Qin Guanglin got out of bed and opened the door. Qin's Mom was tinkering with her old objects in the living room.

"Awake?" Qin's Mom turned her head at the sound, "What are you looking for?"

"Nothing."

"She just left a short while ago; you woke up late," Qin's Mom could read him like a book, "Come here, sit."

Qin Guanglin checked the time—it was past five in the afternoon. He had slept deeply this time, "I'll have a drink first."

He hadn't gotten to the water when he boiled it at noon. Now awake, his mouth was parched, so he poured a glass of water to quench his thirst, suddenly tasting oranges.

Looking at the cup—it was new. He licked his lips again, I wonder if He Fang did this while I was sleeping, sneaky!

"You two, have you confirmed the relationship?" Qin's Mom put down her old objects and asked him.

"Didn't you catch us this morning?" Qin Guanglin felt awkward—such a normal thing like having a girlfriend, yet his confession was seen by his mom.

Qin's Mom had already figured it out but wanted to hear him admit it. The kid still wouldn't answer directly.

"I didn't see her agree; without even a gift, you just stood there confessing—should've rejected you."

"She agreed, she agreed." Qin Guanglin didn't want to discuss this topic with her.

Qin's Mom glanced at him and started interrogating, "How did you two meet?"

"She's my junior." Qin Guanglin repeated what He Fang said in the morning.

Couldn't let Qin's Mom know that He Fang flirted with him online, then teased him for real, and finally hooked up.

"When did you start seeing each other?"

"Today," Qin Guanglin said, puzzled as he looked at Qin's Mom.

"Nonsense! I saw you two going to the movies together yesterday!" Qin's Mom revealed what she'd seen while tailing them.

"Where were you... that was mutual affection, can't you watch a movie without dating?" Qin Guanglin argued; it was indeed today.

Qin's Mom thought that made sense, "The girl is still studying; you're not doing anything decent."

"She's about to graduate from college," Qin Guanglin replied weakly, sounding like he was dating a high schooler.

And come to think of it, wasn't he the one who seemed younger in the relationship?

"That girl seems good, why would she like you? Doesn't make sense." Qin's Mom showed zero regard for her son's feelings.

"I'm a dignified man, with all limbs intact, why wouldn't she like me?"

Qin Guanglin stood up, preparing to go back to his room—there was no way to continue this chat.

"You better not bully her," Qin's Mom reminded him from behind, "Invite her over often."

Closing the room door, Qin Guanglin flopped back onto the bed, Don't bully her? It was more like she bullied him.

Come to think of it, there was indeed a question—why did she like him?

It didn't make sense.
