Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 12 some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest memory

The noise from the outside world is the only thing that can be heard at Deen's apartment. The moonlight is the only thing that keeps the place from being completely dark. The glass door leading to the balcony is open to let the outside air inside the apartment, causing the curtains to dance. From the corner of the room sat Deen, in front of her are empty bottles of beers and a half empty wine. The necklace dangles in between her fingers as she stares at the space in front of her, feeling empty and her mind a mess, a few tear escapes her eyes every now and then but she doesn't wipe them.

At the other side of her living room, her studio is a mess of colors and paint brushes from when she threw them out of frustration while the empty canvas stands near the window, unharmed. Her piano might need a checking once her outburst is done, she reminds herself. She tried to play the piano to calm her mind but it wasn't successful since all she can think about is the person who thought her to play the instrument and what made her love the sound that the keys create. She tried to control herself, she really did, but when her fingers started to play from muscle memory, she kinda lost it and pressed the keys so hard that the only thing she made is a noise and maybe a noise complaint if the walls failed her and she woke up her neighbors since its already in the middle of the night.

She can't even remember how the necklace made its way in her fingers or how she made it to the kitchen to find her stocks of alcohol. Her phone might be dead somewhere in her apartment too but she can't bring herself to go and look for it, she has her past self to thank for texting her friends to not disturb her for the mean time unless she calls for them, she lied for telling them that she's busy since all she did is trash her apartment and lose sleep for the three days that she's gone.

She moves her head and looked outside her apartment and noticed that it's full moon tonight and she has a clear view of the moon, she's not sure why but looking at the moon made her want to go outside so she stood up and grab whatever she thinks she needs. It's like her body has a mind of its own as she grabs her coat, protecting her from the cold night air, she really hates the cold. Her steps are slow and she feels floaty in every step she takes so she tries to breathe deeply to clear her mind but it doesn't seem to work.

Her hand clenches over the necklace until she feels something wet but she didn't dare look and just continued walking leaving a few drops of her blood on the street and when her hands feels cold, she tuck them in her coat's pocket and she felt her phone in there, suddenly remembering a snippet of her going out two days ago wearing the same coat but not remembering where she went or what she did at that time.

She walks mindlessly for an hour and when she felt herself sitting, it's then that she realized that she's in a middle of a night market. Food stalls are lined up in the sides of the street and there are people buying street foods and few of them are having a good time drinking with their friends as they laugh loudly and only then that Deen noticed how noisy the place is.

She is broken out of her trance when she felt her phone vibrating. The hand that is holding the necklace clenches harder making her wince as her free hand brought her phone out of her pocket and checks the percentage of her phone (which is 10%) first before her eyes went down to the caller's name.

Zirrius calling ā€¦ her phone reads.

She answers the call but didn't say anything.

"Deen? Are you there?" she hears Zirrius say when she didn't greeted him back with the usual hello. She hums and for some reason, Zirrius knows that something is wrong.

"Where are you?" he asks. "I'm going to wherever you are so can you please tell me where you are?" he says when Deen didn't answer. She hears a few shifting of things and murmurs in the other side of the call and then a door closing.

"I don't know." She finally says, whispering. She doesn't know if Zirrius heard her but after a loud ping at Zirrius's side and an answer of, "Describe where you are then. I'll come find you." She knows that she can count on him at this moment and so she tries to describe everything she sees.

Deen can hear Zirrius talking to someone but she didn't pay any mind to his companion or ask about whoever is with him. After a while of the silent conversation that she's hearing, Zirrius started to ask her about some stuff but when he didn't get any answer from her, he starts telling her about how his day went and satisfied at the hums that he hears from Deen.

Zirrius knows that Deen is not registering any of the things that he's saying and that she's pretty out of it but he still keeps talking and the occasional hums that he hear is enough to lessen his worries for the mean time. And after what felt like forever, the car stops and he looks at Ash who is his designated driver for tonight. "Are we there now?" he asks as he looks around and when he receives a yes, the two of them went out of the car with their facemasks and caps.

He keeps talking over the phone as the two of them look around the night market while making sure that no one can recognize them. He don't know if its bad luck or not that there's a lot of people tonight but no one seems to recognize the two singers as they move as fast as they can to look for Deen. He knows that he won't be receiving any answer from Deen but he still tried to ask where exactly she is and when he only receives silence, he looks at his phone and cusses when he realized that the call is cancelled for he don't know how long. His heart started to beat faster as he imagines the worst and before he starts panicking, Ash taps his back.

"Isn't that her?" he pointed at the girl sitting at a bench alone, remembering the pictures that Zirrius showed him everytime he talks about Deen. Zirrius pockets his phone as he run towards Deen, Ash following just as fast.

Deen is startled when someone held her cheeks and she drops her phone as her heart skips a beat. The stranger moves her head making her face the person who is holding her. She frowns deeply when she realizes that Zirrius is in front of her and his lips keeps on moving but she couldn't hear him. A man she can't recognize but knows that she saw somewhere or maybe she knew him but can't remember talks to Zirrius and with a nod, Zirrius carries her bridal style.

The other man picks her phone and the two run hurriedly but carefully, making sure that they won't bump anyone on the way to their car and when Zirrius sat the two of them at the back of the car, she finally closes her eyes and fell into a deep slumber.

"Do you think her drunkenness is the reason of her being out of it?" Ash asks as he watches Zirrius move Deen in a comfortable position from the rear mirror. The two of them silent for a while during the drive going back to their apartment and a call for their manager to get them a private doctor after Zirrius notices the blood in Deen's pocket and hand.

Zirrius glares at Ash. "Can you shut up?" he gritted, suddenly defensive and protective for Deen. "Okay fine. Sorry." Ash says when he notices that the younger is shaking, from what? He doesn't know but he too is quite worried for the semi-stranger that is currently unconscious at the back of his car. The two of them went back to being silent during the entire ride home with Zirrius who keeps on checking on Deen and Ash who occasionally glances at the two to make sure that they're alright, for Deen to be hopefully just passed out due to stress or whatever and Zirrius to make sure he's not crying due to the overwhelming worry he is sure that the other is feeling, a few comforting words ready just in case his brother is crying.

They reached home fast and their manager is already waiting at the parking lot for them. He immediately approached them and asked what happened when they went out of the car and saw Zirrius carrying an unconscious girl. Zirrius ignored him and directly went over the elevator while Ash explains what happened.

The doctor is sitting at the couch in their living room when they entered the apartment and Zirrius urges him to move fast as he runs towards his room and carefully drops Deen in his bed and moving away for the doctor.

The three watches silently while the doctor does his thing but after a few nervous paces from Zirrius, Ash drags him out of the room towards the kitchen. Their manager follows them and hands a bottle of water to Zirrius to drink and to ease his nerves. "You need to relax. She's alright, we came on time before she passes out in the middle of the market." Ash says as he comfortingly rubs' Zirrius's back.

"Something's wrong. Tungsten said that she's busy but I have this feeling that tells me that she's not actually busy and that something is wrong. If only I called her earlier." He mumbles before catching a breath, trying not to choke out from the sob that finally escapes his lips.

"Hey, hey, enough with that thought. Don't blame yourself now. Remember that you still called her and we made it on time before something bad happened." Ash softly says, their manager leaving the kitchen to give them some privacy.

"But if I called earlier, maybe this wouldn't happen. Maybe we talked what's bothering her out and she wouldn't pass out in the middle of a street." He continues mumbling. Ash sighs deeply and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Look, we don't know that something like this would happen to her. She lied to her friends for being busy and if you called earlier she wouldn't have answered your calls since she doesn't seem to want to talk to anyone and you told me that they are a close knit of friends. Everything happened in their right time and it's a good thing that she decided to answer her phone when you called." Ash explains and Zirrius relaxes at this when he realizes that the older is right.

"She's fine." The doctor says from their back so the two of them turns so fast to face the doctor who holds the answer to their worried questions.

"There are dark circles in her eyes and she looks pale so I don't think that her drunkenness is the main reason for her passing out. Although that might be one of the reasons, we can't deny the fact that she's sleep deprived and stressed so her body finally caught up and passed out due to fatigue. She needs to rest and catch the z's for a few days, I recommend that she should take a few days off and let her body relax as well. I already patched her hand and here-"the doctor says and hands the necklace to Zirrius who frowns but still reaches for the object. "She's been clutching over that necklace so hard thus the blood and open wounds in her palm and fingers."

After a few words and instructions from the doctor, Zirrius went back to his room to check on Deen while their manager walks the doctor all the way to the parking lot.

Zirrius watches Deen's sleeping face for a minute before he slowly approaches the bed and sat carefully beside the sleeping girl.

"I'm sorry for almost being late." He whispers as he caresses Deen's cheek. Deen unconsciously moves her head towards him when he moves his hand away. He smiles at the simple action and moves his hand to her hair and softly plays with her hair.

Ash silently watches the two as he stands near the door, a smile gracing his lips as he watches Zirrius kiss Deen's forehead. He silently left the two and made his way to his own room to continue his disturbed sleep when Zirrius woke him up to go and look for Deen.

Up above the earth, three entities stand at the opened gate of the valley of stars. Few stars are falling due to the opened gate but are hardly seen at where the people they are watching from because of the clouds that is obstructing the people to see the fall out of some stars.

"Aren't you supposed to be the representation of happiness and brightness, why are you so hard on them? On her?" Argo asks as he joins the three after Pyxis closes the gate. The Sun looks over his shoulder and gives him a smile. "I'm not exactly what the humans think of me as, you know that, Argo." He answers. "And you, my dear Moon. Why do you keep on bursting my bubbles?" he looks over to the Moon who is silent beside him. "You already know that I don't like your way of entertainment." He simply answers.

Argo angrily looks at Fate who seems to be amused at the two and smirks at him. "Their fate is being decided by themselves. I've written all of the possibilities that will happen to them, of course, but the choices they make are all on them. The Sun and the Moon do as they pleases to ensure that what happens next goes in favour of their bet while I'm just a mere spectator just like you." He says that only made Argo more annoyed.

He doesn't notice the Moon going near him. It's when the Moon pats his shoulder that he looks at him and the Moon gives him a smile. "That girl that your friend gave his last wish for, I've been watching her in years. I only wish her happiness." He says before he disappears. The Sun rolls his eyes before he too disappears along with Fate.

Argo doesn't know if he should trust the Moon but he too wants the girl to be happy so he should start to trust him on his words for now.

"Our dear friend will always find his way back to us, you know that right?" Pyxis says behind him. "I know." He answers. "I'm just worried about the possibility of him not coming back. His essence is already dropping as it is. I just can't accept the fact that he's about to be breaking one of our rules when it comes to humans." He says sadly as they watch the sleeping girl and the two artist move silently to not wake her up.

A star made its presence known by making his light brighter. Argo and Pyxis watch their friend's brother as he approaches them. "He'll be alright." He says softly. "I came here to let you know that whatever happens, I only want my brother to be where he wants and do as he pleases. He knows what he is doing, please don't interfere to whatever he decides to do next." He says before disappearing.

And who are they to disagree with the young star? He has a point, their friend knows what he is doing so they'll just have to wait and see what happens at the end.
