The carriages slowly made their way toward the teleportation gate, which they would use to teleport to the Nine Dragon Sect instantly. Reaching the gate, the due were left in awe due to its monstrous structure. It was essentially an archaic-looking door around a hundred meters high and fifty meters wide with a blue-colored portal on its insides. It gave off an ancient and majestic aura that hinted at its long-standing history. Many people could be seen either entering or leaving the gate at different areas whether it be from the ground or from the air.
"Damn, living in the boonies did a number on us..." Yuno was hinting at the fact that they were easily awestruck by almost everything they saw. Akin to a frog in a well, for the frog, that small patch of sky was everything. But once it left the well and saw the infinite expand in front of it, it couldn't help but laugh helplessly.
'The world was like this all along??' the frog asked in amusement. As if it was born again, everything seemed new to it. There were so many flowers, trees... plants, in general, were crazy diverse. And don't even get him started on the other lifeforms, the birds and the bees, the cats, the dogs, the moles, the rats. Everything was so foreign and exciting.
Yuno felt exactly like that frog. She was completely awestruck by everything she saw, and she would often question whether it was real or not. Everything seemed to be magical infinitely deep. But through all these, she chose to remember the tragic story of the frog.
Being so naive, the frog tried to befriend all the animals he saw. Later that day, the frog came across a snake. He asked whether they could be friends or not, to which the snake readily agreed. "Do you want to see my cave?" the snake asked. "I'd love to!" the frog answered with enthusiasm. So later that day, the snake took the frog back to its cave and ate it!
The moral of the story? Naivety kills just as much as curiosity.
The more she thought of the story the more she steeled her will, after all, she was just like that frog, and at any moment she may be tricked by a snake.
The teen on the other hand was not impressed.
'I admire their effort but for me who is the creator of all, it is but a grain of sand...' an awfully pretentious thing to say but true never the less.
The carriages slowly made their way toward the gate before stopping at the nearby station, from which the gate was controlled. A guard stationed there made his way toward the carriages before being stopped by one of the knights that rode beside the carriages on horses. The soldier took out an identification badge that distinguished his party as royalty before ordering the soldier to change their destination.
The soldier bowed incessantly before leaving for the station where he had the operators change the destination of the group to a gate owned by the Nine Dragon Sect. Recognizing the identification badge, the operator hastily took it into his hands before placing it on top of a screen. After scanning the badge the screen lit up before a 3D holographic map appeared. The map seemed to show all geographics which contained a gate within them in the form of holographic lands with small-sized holographic gates erected atop them. After asking for their destination, the operator chose the holographic gate that had the Nine Dragon Sect tag on it.
He then brought up another holographic map, this one, of the gate the station operated. It showed the gate itself as well as the people that went in and out of the gate. The operator then marked out the group that headed to the Nine Dragon Sect, in red, before handing back the identification badge. The soldier then quickly ran back to the knight that had given him the badge and returned the badge to him. He bowed as he told the knight that they can proceed.
The knight looking at the soldier let out a prickly smirk before commanding the carriage at the very front to move forward. After getting the go-ahead, the carriages started moving forward and one by one they disappeared into the gate.
Yuno and the teen felt as if they had passed through a thin film of water as they felt a cool sensation invade their bodies. Looking out the window, the scenery had changed, instead of urbanized traditional homes, there were only clear blue skies. The duo were confused but their confused expressions turned into one of shock as they saw a sea of clouds in the distance.
'Wait, why are the clouds below us?? WTF, why are we in the sky??? Is the sect on some sort of floating island???' Just as they were thinking that a strange sensation ran across their bodies. As if some mythological monstrosity had its eyes on them, they dared not even breathe.
The carriages moved towards a designated location when a large array appeared underneath them. The array lit up with a light blue color and suddenly they all disappeared into thin air. The duo who hadn't even acclimated to their situation were again teleported to another.
In another location, above a brightly lit array, several carriages appeared. After the flash disappeared, the due looked out the window to see a large and magnificent city-like structure. It was built atop a floating island whose berg had been obscured by the thick clouds. It was surrounded by seven other smaller islands floating at different altitudes, i.e. some had their bergs exposed while others didn't. They too were magnificent but they paled in comparison to the central island. Huge cranes carrying sect members could be seen flying back and forth from the islands. Some were even flying atop their swords like olden cultivation masters. It was truly a breathtaking sight to behold, one straight out of cultivation novel.
