Chapter 27 - Angelus Mortis

Elder Ming Squinted her eyes in confusion as she thought of how the teen had climbed onto the crane instead of just jumping onto it as the girl had. A chain of thoughts appeared in her mind but she quickly rejected them as they were highly improbable.

The six-winged crane having had its feathers ruffled by the teen during his ascent, turned its head back and looked at the MC contemptuously; its hasle-colored eyes reflecting its thoughts... 'KYS...'

*Tsk*

The main character clicked his tongue while he turned his head to the side, and given his hands that were hidden away someplace in his robe, he looked just like a ruffian. Elder Ming who had witnessed the silent interaction let out a chuckle as she said,

"Cranes are creatures that take great pride in their appearance... anyways apply a small quantity of qi to your feet, which causes an almost magnetic reaction with the skin of the crane. That way you won't fall off and die..."

The main character hearing this was left heartbroken. For someone who didn't have any qi, this was going to be a grizzly rollercoaster. He swallowed his pride as he turned to look at Yuno with helpless puppy eyes. Seeing the MC in such a predicament, Yuno's face turned bizarre as she suppressed her laughter. She did so whilst wrapping her arms around him as if he was a tree.

Elder Ming took note of this detail as she commanded the crane to take flight. The crane unfurled its wings wide showing off their majesty, it then proceeded to flap its wings causing a gust of wind to be blown; with little to no effort, the crane was now in the air. Flying over the sea of clouds calmly, the journey gave the duo a sense of safety, peace, and tranquility.

A minute or two had passed by before they reached one of the peripheral floating islands. Examining it closely the teen was dumbstruck by its enormous size! Just this island alone was the same size as a mid-sized city, the real kicker being that THIS WASN'T EVEN THE LARGEST ISLAND!!!!

'This place is hugggge!'

Passing over it the duo saw all kinds of people going about their busy day. Some were in open training areas sharpening their martial skills, whilst some were silently cultivating. Between all the large buildings one could see a multitude of people, familiars, and aircraft making their way. Yuno seeing this was especially impressed as this was, in all practicality, a city. It had park-like areas that added a bit of greenery to the place whilst at the same time having dense trees somewhere else; It was truly a wonderous and peculiar sight.

'To think all this is possibly only because I have a bright prospect...' her face seemed to grow heavy as that thought crossed her mind, evident of her emotions. She seemed to be burdened with the talent she had and felt as if she needed to show results or else they would have to return to the life they once lived.

The MC on the other hand was looking around the island with a blank face thinking this was a nice upgrade from the sandy pits of ass they were originally from.

'Sandfell?? More like, suck my ass!!'

Thinking back to that place the teen let out a crooked smile as he thought, 'After I gain a bit of strength, I'll go back to that dumpster of a town and harass all the people that have ever mocked or wronged me. People like those teens who teased me for not being able to cultivate, and that damned bakery shop owner who beat me up just for stealing a loaf of bread!!! Oh, and that one guy whom I bought Yuno's bracelet from... What did I say again?? Cut down the price or I'll cut your lineage? I don't remember but it was something like that. Ah, I can already taste the sweet flavor of revenge!!!'

[Reader]: What a maniacal fuck!

[Author]: The worst of the worst!

Either way, both Yuno and the teen were excited to start the new chapter of their life... but just as soon as that was said, a cold shiver ran down the spines of everyone inside the Sect. As if the Grim Reaper himself had caressed their hearts, their hearts skipped a beat. Elder Ming looked around in panic as she felt the sudden descent of a deathly aura.

'Wtf is happening??'

The bustling streets came to a halt as everyone couldn't help but look at the sky in helpless anxiety.

Sect Master Lei and all those around him, including guards, elders, and other untitled but powerful cultivators suddenly turned into streaks of light appearing swiftly in the skies of the Nine Dragon Sect. They seem to have placed themselves in a strange formation that influenced the natural world. Natural energy gathered around this formation as if readying for battle.

Everyone lingered with battered breaths as they waited for what was to come. Suddenly, Sect Master Lei turned his head toward the sun. The others also turned toward their heads but all they could see was the bright, luminescent sun; that was until a figure slowly emerged, seeming to have been birthed from the eternal glow.

The figure was attired in a cloud-white rob decorated with golden patterns; he had long white hair that reached his back and golden-colored eyes, which coupled with his sharp and handsome features, made him out to be the heir of some legendary faction. But contrary to his looks, his tenacious demeanor excluded a thick ambiance of death and hatred which was further complimented by his wrathful eyes.

Identifying who it was, Sect Master Lei let out a breath as he said, "Han Sen, what brings you here?" Of course, he asked that knowing full well why he was there. After all, he himself was the one who had butchered the man's entire clan.

Han Sen who was already angry, understandably so, was further inraged by Sect Master Lei's casual question. To have the galls to ask such a question after what he had done! Nah, this was more than payback, this was more than revenge!!!

Han Sen's eyes went narrow as his battle intent rose to the absolute maximum.

*VWOOOSH*

And just like that Han Sen disappeared! Everyone looked around in caution trying to locate him but it was as if he had turned into a gh-*CRACK* Suddenly the sounds of bones breaking were heard. One of the elders had been kicked from the side, shattering his left arm and at least three of his ribs. He was sent flying into another cultivation who managed to easily dodge to the side. But that was exactly what Hen Sen had planned him to do because as soon as he did, there were several poison-clad daggers flying at his vitals.

'Shit!' the man thought as a translucent spherical shield appeared around his body, blocking the projectiles with ease. He then got into a fighting stance and waited for Han Sen to make his move. What he didn't expect though was the translucent shield breaking apart as a fist hurled toward his face.

*SWOSH*

The man barely managed to dodge the fist before countering with a palm strike to the chest, and from that distance dodging wasn't a possibility; but as soon as the attack connected something strange happened. The man's palm sunk into Han Sen's body but not because of the strike, actually the man had felt all the force and momentum he has built up being dissipated as soon as he made contact. So that couldn't have been the reason for the eerie occurrence, no, he was being pulled in.

The cloth around the palm turned into sinister-looking flesh as suddenly, Han Sen's body exploded with a massive dark mist. The man who had been at the epicenter could be heard screaming as most of his right hand had been blown off and most of his flesh burnt! This had all happened within one breath's time, yea like some real cultivation shit.

The others hadn't helped the poor man was out of requirement, they needed to stay in their respective positions till the array was fully functioning. Till then, the only thing they could do was wait.
