"The 13th? Seriously what was the captain thinking of bringing worthless soldiers from the 13th." The Captain from the 16th unit scoffed.
"The two of you don't look like others from the 13th."
"I'm an engineer the government paid for my schooling."
"Ah, so your service is to repay the government. If they put you there you've must have excelled in your school."
"Top of the class with a scholarship."
"What of you?"
"I'm a Liman my family forced me to join. However, didn't want me to achieve anything during my time of service."
"Bad relationship?"
" Could say that me and most of my family are like oil and water. Not like I'd listen to my family anyways."
"A rebellious one then."
"Towards my family yeah. Do you know how insulting it is to force an athlete of my caliber into such a space. It was hard to even slightly maintain my skills."
"You are an athlete?!"
"Yes at one point I was. Mind you I was only just semi-pro in my district. I had more important issues to deal with." Roan replied shifting slightly.
"What did you do?"
"A few things… running, gymnastics, archery. I did what ever could keep me occupied. I've done a fair amount." Roan said though not entirely answering the question that was asked purposely. The sport she was semi-pro for was swordsmanship, and counted teacher of the art at this point. But it also didn't help that most of her opponents were mainly regular human's so she had an advantage. Her violet gaze glanced over each of the people, she was a women but that didn't mean it was impossible for her to beat them. That was something she knew well as she's fought against people in both lives and have won in fights when the odds were against her based on rational thinking and planning.
"Ah right I'm Capt Marcus Klein of the 3rd unit."
"Lt. Maxwell Barlow of the 5th unit."
"Capt Josh Hawkins of the 3rd unit."
"Maj Edward Andersen of the 20th unit."
"Capt Zac Fischer of the 16th unit."
"Now that all you ladies are introduce to each other here are room assignments. After you get your stuff in your rooms. In 20 minutes I expected you all back out here for some training!" The instructor exclaimed in a loud tone after handing out the room assignments.
"Yes sir!" they all exclaimed with a salute.
Avalon was placed in a room with Capt Klein. Antonio walked over to her. "Roan let's switch rooms." he told her throwing his arm over her shoulder.
"Sure." Roan replied quickly with a nod to take the single room to herself, for obvious reasons. She grabbed her bag and case before going over to the boarding rooms. Her room as close to Antonio's that if she ever need his help she could race over to his room. Placing her things in to the room placing the case that held her swords into the closet and having the bag of her items on the foot of her bed.
After doing that she went back down to the field and joined other's. It wasn't long till the instructor joined them. But with a quick glance around Avalon noticed the other soldier's near buy. 'They must be checking out to see the recruits. After all two of use were to be joining their team after all.' Avalon thought taking a quick glance around. Though her physical abilities were lacking her eyes and mind were sharp and even though the member's of the team were hiding she could find each one.
"I'll be your drill sergeant instructor. Colonel (Col) Ray Snow." The dark haired man exclaimed. "For your first day, you'll start with a run carrying 40kg."
'Fuck that is defiantly something I won't be able to do yet.' Avalon hissed as they all went to grab a bag. Avalon swung it around and onto her back causing her to stumble slightly.
"Also last one to arrive goes without lunch." Col Snow added before having them start. Avalon was a little slow as she was no used to this kind of wait on her back and needed to find a good centre of balance for her to work with.
"You good?"
"I'll be fine but I don't think I'll be eating lunch today either. This is the first time I've run with such weight." Roan muttered shifting the backpack on her back.
"I could run with you."
"No it's alright go on a head I'll catch up." Roan sighed with a shake of her head.
The 'run' wasn't so much a run rather a hike as they were to go through a forest and climb over hill and such. It was a little difficult for Avalon to balance with the 40 kg weight making her the last one to arrive. Meaning she wasn't getting lunch today however that 'run' wasn't the end for the day there was a running course. Avalon went last.
The idea of the course was to avoid the attacks from unknown attacker's while completing the course in a timely manner. It was not a simple obstacle course that requires a good sense of balance. As Antonio finished with a half decent time Avalon unclipped her gloves. 'Antonio finished with a 2:10, not the slowest time. However the average for the group is much lower. Speed with balance never been his strong suit so it's not too surprising. If we… never mind we went to join the s.o.f but not draw too much attention to ourselves.' Avalon thought as she unclipped and removed her second glove and handed them to Antonio.
'My weakest area's physically is my strength, and current over all stamina fairly low. Strength I normally make it up with my physic ability since I can lift anything with the ability. But Stamina has always been something to work after some time it is below that of trained women (like it once was) but it is still something less than they would expect from a person of an s.o.f unit of the country.' Avalon thought as she messaged her right wrist.
A balance beam over a mud pit, then a run between cover, followed with pole jumps. Then a rock wall to climb (6.45 m high) then after reaching the top of the wall you zip down and go around obstacles to reach the end. It was a fairly active course but not something that would be impossible. The most dangerous things were the free climb rock wall and zip line.
After thinking for a moment as she walked up to the start line then she begun her turn through the obstacle course she took the fastest routes that each person before had taken and hand little trouble avoiding the attack as she had already figured out the locations of the attackers. She only had on real slip up at the start the she quickly fixed till she eventually reached the rock wall. Everyone has taken the same route it was easy to see meaning it was the easiest to take so that was the route Avalon begun to take.
