-At the city capital-
After my duel with Seraphina, we talked it out as to how I am qualified for their team. Seeing as to Yuuki was acting, it seems like she was about to test me herself. She did scold Seraphina for what she did but Seraphina was Yuuki's right hand man so she didn't make a big deal out of it.
"While I did qualify for their team, I still can't afford to laze around, I need to train my body more." I spoke to nyself. I was the top among my peers when it comes to physical fights, be it fist fight or with weapons. Does that mean your compatibility with magic or physical activity is determined since you were born? That means I was meant to be a mage but due to my mana, I was unable to be one. What a harsh world, I sighed in dissapointment.
It's a day off from school today but I still have to practice and I'm planning to train there but there should be students in there. I've already got a gut feeling that they will pester me with questions and a bunch of request to have a spar with me. I've also realized that I'm pretty lazy in this body of mine compared to my past. Is it because I'm confident with my magic and martial arts? Either way, I should fight my laziness.
-At the dormitory room-
I may not be compatible with physical fights, but that doesn't mean I can't do it. Compatibility just determines how fast you can grasp something on a a specific subject with less effort, but if you have knowledge, then compatibility is not an obstacle.
"Alright, I should fully sync my memories from my past life to my muscle memory. I thought I had fully done it but after my fight with Alisse I realized there's multiple memories I still haven't synced. Ugh, it takes many hours to do this and I still have to calibrate my body but it's still better than training." I groaned.
"Gasp! No! Like I said, I should fight my laziness!" I slapped my cheeks to snap out of my laziness. "Alright, let's start!"
I sat on the bed and crossed my legs. I emptied my mind and began syncing my memories one by one, with utter concentration.
-Ten hours later-
"Phew, I'm finally done."
After carefully syncing my memories and calibrating my body, I'm finally done. "Ugh, that was hard." I stretched myself. "Ah, by the way, how's my mana doing?"
"Wha–?! The amount is higher than the ten times higher than the top student!" I only left it for a few weeks and it already filled the subspace I created. I have a mana foundation but my mana was low so I expected it to fill half the subspace. If it gets any larger then it will leak out and my cover is blown. I should condense my mana and create another subspace for my magic.
-Ten hours later-
It's three in the morning and my eyelids are heavy, I'm exhausted after using a bunch of mana. "I should sleep." I told myself.
My body flopped to the bed and slowly closed my eyes.
-Next morning-
A knock on the door slightly woke me from my sleep, I trudged towards the door struggling to keep my balance.
"Yes?"
"Kurtz Feier, you are late for school, care to explain what's going on?" Yuuki's irritated voice snapped me out of my drowse.
"Eh? Miss?!"
"Just call me Yuuki."
"Ah, uhm, Yuuki."
"So? Care to explain your tardiness?"
"I deeply apologize, I was meditating and I only slept late in the morning."
"I see, well don't practice too hard."
"Thank you."
"No problem, get dressed up and follow me."
"Yes. Ah, by the way, how did you know my dormitory room?"
"I'm the leader and I was sent the info about my members."
Was it really? This is pretty sketchy.
"You don't need to be wary, every leader of a team was sent basic information. Yours was slightly more detailed because it seemed like you have no frirends."
Ugh, the truth hurts
"Get ready, what are you dawdling about?"
"Ah yes."
-Opening ceremony-
The students are cramped, the speech of the principal that bores me out, slowly putting me to sleep. The sound slowly muffled as I slowly succumbed into sleepiness.
A sudden loud cheer and derision that came from the students snapped me out of my drowse.
"Eh?! What happened?!"
"And that was the end of the announcement, good day kids."
As we slowly went to our respective classes, I pondered about the announcement earlier, racking my brain about the possible things he could've said. I scratched my head in annoyance.
-Lunch break-
"I slept through the class and just day dreamed as I waited until the lunch break. Ugh, I'm so bored." If I was in my past life, I would be sneaking in a cellphone to the class as a distraction. I may have lived in a world of war back there but it was never boring most of the time. I want to introduce otherworldly technology here but that's too hasty, I only just got reincarnated here, I'll take things easy.
I sat somewhere outside the cafeteria and ate my food.
"Quite lonely are you?" A bubbly voice interrupted the peaceful chirp of birds and the rustling sounds of leaves; Tsk, who is it now?
"Miss Freia?"
"Ahahaha, no need to sound so formal, just call me Freia."
"Yes, Freia."
"So, why are you just sitting there?"
"Uhhh, I feel left out?" I answered vaguely; more like it's so noisy in there.
"So that's how it is~. Then~, how about you join us?"
"Eh? There's no need to–."
Before I could even finish my sentence she grabbed my arm and guided me to their group.
"Tada~ How is it?"
She guided me to a secret room, in there was Seraphina, Alisse, Yuuki and Freia, all eating and socializing together.
"Huh? Freia? Why did you bring that insect here?" Seraphina's cheerful face turned into an irritated one.
"Now now, Seraphina, let's be more welcoming shall we?" (Alisse)
"Yeah, he's not even doing anything." (Freia)
"That's right, calm yourself down, Seraphina." (Yuuki)
"Tch." (Seraphina)
"A-ah, What should I do?" (Kurtz)
"Leave." Seraphina answered bluntly with slight intimidation.
"We should get to know more if our teammates Seraphina." (Alisse)
"Ugh, fine." (Seraphina)
"Alright, let's eat~!"
"Y-yes."
I joined their gathering while trying to ignore the awkward atmosphere.
"I-I'm finished, I'll be going." I stood up and left to avoid the awkwardness.
"Oh okay, sorry about Seraphina, Ahahaha." (Freia)
"I-it's fine."
"Thank you." (Freia)
Quickly finishing the left overs, I packed my food and left.
Seraphina's POV:
He finally left, that guy was probably here to ogle at our bodies just like any other man. He may not be obvious about it, but he can't fool me. And he's most likely deadweight and sucks up to us. I'm tired of men like that, I need to kick him out beffore the competition.
"Seraphina, you're so rude to him." (Alisse)
"Yeah, this is our chance to get to know him better." (Freia)
"You should calm yourself down, Seraphina." (Yuuki)
"Ugh, he's probably here to ogle at our bodues, especially you! Alisse and Yuuki. We should kick him out and find another member."
"You do know that we intimidate someone who ever does that right?" (Yuuki)
"But I'm bettter at spotting perverts than you!"
"T-that's..."
"Well, how about we observe him when we share dorms?" (Alisse)
"Fine."
Whoever rooms that guy is sharing with, I pity her.
