Celine smiled bitterly. "I don't know what to say about this 'old story', but what really remained is the humiliation I received, even though this is only my second meeting with his family."
"I know what disappointed you even more, which was Darren who didn't even speak up to defend you. Am I right?"
"You're being extremely pretentious with your probing!" snapped Celine.
"You're too snappy! Do you know my purpose in bringing you to meet Darren's mother?"
"Sorry ..! But I don't want to bring up that encounter again. Just take it as you have reached your goal." Celine stood up to leave but Dave was already continuing his words.
"You're avoiding me now? Because you can already guess my purpose for taking you to her, right?" asked Dave. "You are right, my goal is to see how Darren would react to the scorn his mother gave you. And, it was nothing out of expectations," said Dave as a smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
"Yes, I've already guessed it and it won't affect anything either! Best of all, you can keep all your aims to yourself, I won't be moved!" Celine said.
"Wahh ... it seems that love has blinded your mind along with your eyes. I wonder, how long will you remain blind like this?"
Celine glared at Dave.
Undaunted, Dave continued his bragging.
"Form what I know of it, love could never win anything being like that. Emphhh ... I mean, love will stand by our side, when whatever storm came your way. What's more, the case earlier was the scorn from the parents itself. I became you huh-"
"There is no need to compare the incident with anyone. Not only you, I myself am not willing to really accept this kind of treatment. But, we must realize that there are limits to a person. Not everything has to be done as you wish, neither should you. And, about Darren earlier. His position landed him in quite a dilemma, between me, the woman he loved and the mother who had given birth and cared for him full of love. And, his actions were very right, silent without moving!" said Celine. "I emphasizing once again, your goal will not be realized."
Celine walked away.
Darren who had been near all along, but stayed at some distance that he could use a cover due to the dark atmosphere of the location, managed to hear everything Celine said.
"Thank you for understanding my condition," he muttered softly.
"Hey lady, wait ...!" Dave chased after Celine.
"Wait! Why are you walking so fast? You misunderstood what I meant, and I have to explain it to you!" Dave continued to chase after Celine, who started to half run when she heard Dave was chasing after her.
However, after only a few steps, Dave quickly caught up with Celine and grabbed her arm.
"What else?" cried Celine in annoyance.
"Wait a minute! It seems there is a misunderstanding between us."
"Even if there is a misunderstanding, it's nothing to worry about! We don't know each other, and it won't affect anything either."
"Don't be too quick to conclude everything, nobody knows about tomorrow. Who knows we will become co-workers or maybe even spouses." Dave narrowed his eyes.
"Does not make sense!" Celine clicked, and wanted to take another step.
"Hey! Don't go right away. Why do you have such a hobby of avoiding?"
"Shouldn't we avoid people who don't make sense?"
"Haa? Did you just say I was nonsense?"
"If your reason is still in place, you will understand."
At first Dave was very annoyed to hear Celine's comment, but when he saw the small smile that was stuck at the corner of Celin's lips, his irritation disappeared.
"It doesn't matter if you are classified as someone who doesn't make sense, as long as you have the firmness! Not like the 'ono'!"
Celine narrowed her eyes.
"Uh, don't get me wrong. Me and him actually have no problem, it's just-" Dave stopped his words.
"Emphhh ..." Celine chuckled.
"Nothing, he he ... forget it," he continued.
"As I thought, you are so unreasonable!" said Celine, she went back.
"Aish ... when you want to go, go ahead. What else can I do?" murmured Dave, scratching at the back of his neck.
After Celine left the hotel, Darren immediately followed after her closely behind. Right when the distance between them became too close, Darren hugged Celine from behind without any prior notice.
"Hey ... don't be impudent! Believe it or not, I will beat you up!" cried a startled Celine.
However, that person ignored Celine's words, nor could Celine turn around to see who was hugging her so tightly like this.
His perfume smelled like Darren's, but that was impossible. Most of the time he was enjoying time with the girl his mother chose, Celine thought.
Just as Celine was about to step on the foot of the man that was hugging her, Darren spoke softly.
"Let me hug you for a moment longer, I'm tired," he said softly.
