Chereads / CRAZY FOR YOU: (Love that I can't Leave Behind) / Chapter 13 - Meeting with Darren's parent

Chapter 13 - Meeting with Darren's parent

Celine's POV continuous -

With him by my side, it made me realize what exactly difference means, that there are things that shouldn't be forced to unite, for example water and oil. One extinguisher and one generator. So, putting them together will only hurt both of them.

Even so, the perfection I got from him, made me a selfish person. Well, if it doesn't make you feel selfish, it's not love. That's today's term.

I know, it will be hard, but I don't care about the difficulties. Let us be together, at least the time during which our hearts are still linked. In fact love is getting more and more ingrained in our hearts.

At that time, we were fifteen months into our dating life. He invited me to his house. I'm not confident, but I too want that. Honestly, what woman doesn't expect to meet the parents of the man she loves? Me too.

"We're here!" said Darren, "Wait, I'll park the car first."

"Why is it so fast?" I asked, "didn't you say your parents house is on C street, it should take one and half hours from A street, right?" I continued feeling nervous.

"Look at your watch, what time is it?" said Darren.

I looked at my watch. "Jeez ...! It's true that our journey has taken 1.45 minutes. But it doesn't feel like it. Hemph!"

"Ha ha ha ... When did we ever felt that our time together is sufficient?" Darren replied.

"Huh! Just blame yourself for not stopping talking, alright, I also kept talking without looking at the time." I'm defending myself.

"Babe, it looks like you are telling yourself the same thing again, you know. Ha ha ha ..." derided Darren.

"Oh, so I'm the only one talking, you aren't, is that what you want to say now?" I argued, it was a reliable stance to defend myself.

"That's right, it's both of us." Darren immediately got out of the car. When I was about to open the door, the car door had already been opened by Darren.

It's Darren's habit, looks casual, but I am quite touched by the little deed of this man who I love so much.

"Why do you have to open it? I can do it alone!"

"Everyone is here!" Darren replied curtly. He really can't talk sweet.

"Come on in. Mama and the others are waiting inside." Darren immediately held my hand very tightly. Because he knew, my hands were already covered in cold sweat.

Right in front of the doorway, I found that I couldn't step any further and stopped in my tracks.

"What is wrong?" asked Darren.

"Emph ... I'm so scared. Can we do it another time?"

Darren smiled sweetly. "It's okay, trust me. Okay?"

"But bee?"

Yes, 'Bee' is a dear nickname I made up for him. Hemph, for some unknown reason I chose that word as my intimate call. Maybe because in my opinion it is quite simple / short but contains a lot of meaning. That is, 'Bee' is considered imperfect if it does not produce honey extract. And Darren wouldn't be perfect without Celine. Nothing to do, but I feel like it is. ☘️

With heavy steps, I was led by Darren inside. Several times he tried to smile reassuringly to ease my stiff body. For some reason, this is the first time I doubt something. I doubt that he can't save me at this point.

"Mama, I'm home!" said Darren while still embracing my shoulder.

"Honey, you finally came home," said a woman who looked quite young. She pulled Darren into a brief hug and Darren kissed the back of her hand.

From her treatment, I could conclude that it was Darren's mother.

"Ma, where are the others?" asked Darren.

"They are at the dining table, been waiting for you, for quite a long time!"

Darren immediately pulled my hand, walking inside.

"Who?" said Darren's mother who still stood behind, where she greeted Darren.

Her words successfully stopped us from moving, more precisely it was Darren, who stopped because I was just following what he was doing.

"Who is she?" asked Darren's mother again.

Darren smiled sweetly while winking one narrow eye. "Mama will find out in a moment!" Darren continued his steps.

We stopped at a dining table that could accommodate ten people. "Hi all..!" said Darren kindly.

"Hi Pa," continued Darren, he immediately walked toward the middle-aged man who sat at the head of the table.

"Sit down and eat, it's been a long time since we ate together," said the man whom Darren addressed as 'Pa'.

"Who is she?" asked Darren's mother once again, her name was Linda.

"Oh yeah, this is the woman I told Mama the other day. She's Celine, my girlfriend!" said Darren.

"What do you even like about her?" said Aunt Linda, she didn't even care that I was still there.

"What are you talking about Ma? I'm serious about Celine. Mama can't talk like that!"

"There's no need to pretend to be sorry for him. You can't possibly like a 20 year old child."

I could guess who spoke this time, his younger sister.

"Salsa, stop talking!" shrieked Darren.

"Where are you studying now?" asked Darren's father.

"At Pride university, uncle," I replied.

"Oh, are you in college?" asked Aunt Linda, this time her tone was starting to sound friendly.

"Yes, Auntie, I hope I get to graduate," I replied truthfully.

"Why is that?" asked Aunt Linda.

"The thing is while I was in college, sometimes my class schedules clashed with work Auntie," I explained.

"You know! You are only 20 years old, instead of going to college, you are actually working. Can your parents not just send you to school?" aunt Linda protested.

"Mama!!" shouted Darren, "don't talk carelessly!!" he continued.

"What do your parents do?"

"Mama was only a housewife and my father got fired just 2 years ago. So I chose to study while working," I explained.

"What?" Instantly a sound of someone hitting hard the table was heard, it was none other than Darren's mother.

"Darren, what do you mean by bringing a woman like this home? Have nothing to rely on! Even her parents doesn't go to work!" aunt Linda snapped.

Dup!

I felt my heart stopped beating, I was so stunned to hear what aunt Linda said. Even when I forgot to breathe, I still felt my tears rolling down my cheeks.

"MAMA!!" shrieked Darren, bringing me to my senses.

I realized that my presence is really not welcome here. So immediately, I left Darren's house without turning back.

At first I thought, that Darren would come after me. Apparently, that's not what happened. I had to hail a taxi as I decided to go.
