Chapter 2 - The Food...

Cassandra, upon exiting the coliseum, crouched down and covered her face. After that entire jealousy display, letting her emotions get the better of her, she couldn't help but feel extremely self-conscious of her actions mere moments ago. After calming herself down and taking that entire event back there to heart, a lesson was learned. Make sure to keep yourself in check around the person you like. Otherwise you might dig yourself a larger hole than you thought you will.

Standing up and recomposing herself, thinking about Mei Ling and Ye Qiu hitting it off still quite unsettled the female. Shallowly trying to get his attention with her assets was not the smartest move even if it was a martial artist's one and only weapon. There was a lesson she had learned here and upon acknowledging that fact, it felt a lot lighter for her. However, it didn't feel like their relationship would last long, at least romantically. That put her at ease, since it gives her another chance.

She shook off the thoughts of those two for now since it defeated the purpose of her trying to relax for tomorrow, she wandered the lightly crowded city full of varied species of bi-pedal monsters that are trying to act human-like through movement, since their racial features are nothing alike Cassandra and Ye Qiu who are pureblooded humans. Her reception throughout walking the town was of half warm and half cold around these beasts and monsters. Nevertheless, it didn't bother nor hinder her ways of relaxation, one of them being going into an inn and getting something to eat.

Entering the Guild Myrna, named Guild Senida in the past personally built by the late Queen Senida, there had been many upgrades and revisions ever since, made by the current Queen Myrna in good faith for her late mother. Not only is its old aesthetic refined and given better accentuation and a better focus on the motif of a golden lion head surrounded by countless brambles of thorns, Queen Myrna's insignia, but the building itself has been torn to the ground and remodeled the old schematic of the guild itself into a more updated design to fit the kingdom's advancing overall appearance.

There were famous people in here in the past, as Cassandra have heard around her as she walked to the guild. Two of them in particular being the summoned heroes Isogai Sora and Jonathan Persephone, who had been deemed missing in action ever since the Contractor's invasion of the entire world.

Looking around, the redhead warrior spotted merely a few people of striking appearances, a male and a female in particular wearing white oversized clothes, a black-clad blonde bombshell with striking blonde hair with closed eyes as she served the two with some mysterious foods that the Eastern-oriented woman had never seen before, a woman with a red parka sitting with one leg up her other one sizing the same blonde Cassandra had seen before, with a floating red skull on her right shoulder. Lastly, the silver-haired receptionist that wore a silver and off-white themed battle gown. The metal armor pieces on her shoulder, her neck brace, chest plate, and her hair tie all had bramble-like vines either engraved or as actual small and light protrusions from them.

"Mind if I sit with you?" Cassandra asked the other redheaded person whom she walked towards, waving her hand and smiling amicably. The woman turned her head to the warrior, smirking. The red skeleton head looked at its host then Cassandra for two times in succession before disappearing into red mist.

"Oh, yeah! Don't mind me, broski. You coming around to relax? You look exhausted." sharply deduced the female- "name's Harriet, by the way. I've no manners, see~" introduced Harriet immediately thereafter. She inched away to give Cassandra some space to sit, even though its a couch chair attached to the wall of the guild's inn-like exterior with more than enough space for the two of them to sit comfortably in. The blonde waitress picked up on Cassandra's and Harriet's conversation, heading over to them with a tray tucked under her chest.

"Welcome to Guild Myrna, I am your waitress, Jeanne. Do you have an order?" The blonde looked at Cassandra with her deadpan expression and closed eyes, her bangs covering her right eye. The redhead wondered if she could see through her closed eyes, or if she has trained senses from blind. Upon being asked, Harriet passed a small menu to her out of nowhere to help. There were dishes lined up here, categorized very neatly and organized professionally like it's a well known restaurant.

"It is a well known restaurant, albeit only quite recently. Queen Senida was fond of cooking, you see. Queen Myrna and her daughter picked up after her very graciously." interjected the waitress, with Cassandra looking at her immensely perplexed. Did this woman just read her mind?

"I'll take the... what's this, "Ancestra Special?" What's it consist of?" asked Cassandra. Maybe some meat, vegetable, and bread combination? Tons of food ideas were in the female's mind.

"Exquisitely roasted boar meat in red wine with special herbs and spices." answered Jeanne promptly, all of that catered to only Ye Qiu. Cassandra drooled a little, but that might be too much for her for now, since she's not that hungry to down what felt like an entire fat leg of a boar that's twice the size of man, as Jeanne motioned with her hands.

"I'll take a creamy stew with some freshly toasted bread, please." smiled Cassandra, putting down the menu on the table as Jeanne nodded in acknowledgement of her order.

"Drinks?" asked the waitress, "Water only, thanks." and replied the customer. Jeanne bowed deeply and walked away, making her travel to the silver-themed battle princess that manned the counter. She diligently wrote down the order as per Jeanne and Cassandra had discussed, then making her way to the kitchen in the back.

"You look like you just came from the coliseum, pretty lady." surmised Harriet from the martial artist. Cassandra leaned back down on the couch's soft surface, her back muscles relaxing.

"Name's Cassandra Shin, and yeah. The three way's tomorrow, so I'm just resting up. Having a good meal then wander around for today. After we get the coliseum winnings we'll stay for three more days until we head out."

"We? So there's two of you guys participating in there?" asked Harriet as she pointed out Cassandra's words. She nodded.

"Two of us got into the finals for tomorrow's three way. So whoever wins, both of us are guaranteed some money, at the very least. Can't fall below third place." Cassandra stretched her arms and waist, moving her upper body around.

"Oooh, nice. You must be pretty skilled, yeah?" Harriet chuckled ominously, amused. She sized up the warrior, true to her words. This girl's skilled.

"To some extent, yeah. I got trained since I was a child, my body can't betray me." Cassandra sighed, her own words making her remember of her childhood with Ye Qiu. The village... Yeah, they still have to find who burned down their village. Reminding herself of their mission, Cassandra's amber eyes sparked a flaming orange for a split second, reinvigorated.

"If you're looking for stuff to do they have a bounty board just beside the princess over there." Harriet patted Cassandra's shoulder to direct her vision towards the large pinboard full of posted quests. It was organized for the most part, but was filled to the brim with quests to do. From what the girl could see, some offered handsome rewards, some offered more trouble than they're worth.

"I'll check it out tomorrow with my partner." replied Cassandra. The Guild Myrna quests will be put for reminder until tomorrow.

"Miss Cassandra, was it? I caught you mentioning your name. Here is your order, creamy stew with freshly toasted bread." Jeanne called out gently with her soft and regal voice, befitting that of a maid than a waitress. She brought down two plates in front of Cassandra to eat. It looked delectable, with the woman drooling even harder than she did for the Ancestra Special.

"Thank you! This looks amazing, tell the chef that for me, will you?" Cassandra's eyes lit up with life as she licked her lips while looking at the stew and the bread. Their scents blended beautifully and assaulted her nose in the most pleasant way possible. Jeanne gave a small smile and bowed before returning to the silver princess. The martial artist then gave way to eating her ordered food.

Just as she was about to put a spoonful of cream stew, a huge explosion paired with an earthquake shook the entire guild and the immediate area, flipping her plate-full of food.

She stared at her spilled stew blankly for a few seconds in complete shock and horror.
