Seeing her shake her head and was smiling, she look excited about something. "We are having dinner with the family this evening."
"Christa, will you please stop for a moment. I made a dinner reservation for us, not the whole family. And who told you we are having dinner home?" Thomas whispered.
Shocked, when she held his hand, "Thomas I arrange the dinner, so can you please cancel your reservation?
I didn't know you made plans or I would have never done it? I am so, so sorry, I know I should have discussed it with you first.
Your Aunt is here and your brothers and sister so I thought it would be a nice way for me to meet the other family members. So I suggested we call the others and have a family dinner."
Seeing how happy she was, "Okay, but I want you to wear the outfit I got you for this evening dinner."
Noticing how beautiful she was smiling when she said. "Anything, and thank you so very much for agreeing, I know you won't regret it."
Wondering, 'Why did she think I won't agree, especially when I told Aunty I will consult her.
This is better than I expected, she will be joining the family for dinner. Something she has never done since we got married.
She look so anxious and was ready to dash out of the room. "Christa, where are you going in such a rush?"
"I am going to help Mrs. Marva, seeing it's a last-minute arrangement I had made."
Grabbing her hand, "Christa just wait a minute, you have not been too well lately. So p]ease, don't hustle too much, I don't want you getting sick again?"
Thomas was in total shock, unable to believe it when she reaches up and kiss his lips. "I won't, I promise you, now let me get to it, the time is going quickly."
Still, in a daze, Thomas just stood there, 'This change is so unexpected.' Looking at her as she ran out of the room, "What is she up to?
I wanted this evening to be special, having her all to myself. But dinner with the family doesn't sound too bad especially if she is joining us.
I won't have to answer a million questions and they might concentrate on their dinner instead of firing questions after me.'
I never thoughts in my wildest dreams she will touch me, much less kiss me."
Touching his lips with his finger, Thomas smile then passes his tongue over his lips. 'I know very soon she will come to me of her own free will.'
Lying down for an hour hearing the clock bang six, 'I should check and see what she is doing.'
Going downstairs before seven, unable to believe his eyes. 'Just as she had said, most of the family was seated in the living room.
Aliza, Carla and Jeffrey, Massy and Roycil, Jerome and his wife Larissa, Carol and Larry, Lester and Sybil.
So where are the children?' "I see, you all are here but where are the children?"
"Larissa's sister is visiting, so we leave them with her." Jerome reply. Looking at him, since that episode with Paul, he never came but my wife has asked for the family to come.
Saying nothing so no one will be offended, Thomas asks, "My wife did ask for the entire family to come. Are you afraid to bring the children, this is their grandparent's house?"
When Carol stood up, "Tom, we know Mom and Dad don't like the noise, so we decided not to bring them."
"Well it's your children, I only hope my wife will not be too disappointed. And think you don't want her to see your children. Now let me go and check what help she might need."
"Tom!" Massy said, "Mrs. Marva will take care of the dinner," when she stood up. "You sit, I will check to see how long again before dinner is ready.
Carla, you can come and help me set the table." Massy requested.
Ignoring them, Thomas went into the kitchen realizing Massy and Carla were looking at him. Standing next to her asking, "Will you take long again?"
"What is the time now?"
"It is almost half seven."
"Thanks, Mrs. Marva will it be alright if I change now?"
"Yes! Mistress, and thank you very much for all your help."
Thomas, notices they keep looking at her as she leaves the kitchen. Raising his voice slightly, "Hello! I thought you were going to help set the table?"
"Yes, we are sorry, but Christa looks so different."
"You two set the table, Mrs. Marva do you need any help with anything?"
"No, Sir, the Mistress already empties all the food in dishes. It only has some potatoes in the oven and that will just need about five minutes again.
Why don't you go and see if she needs any helps? She worked very hard and fast preparing the fried chicken and the noodles, as she instructed me to prepare the potatoes."
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Marva, I know my wife made some last minutes plan which gives you some extra work, I must thank you for heeding her request."
Holding his hand, "She is a very easy-going person, and we work well together. I must say she did well and from my observation, she can cook real good."
"You don't mind her using the kitchen?" Thomas asks, Recalling, 'His wedding night when she drop the milk and the way she was angry.'
"No! Sir, I understand she cannot eat certain things and she is very careful when she used my kitchen tools. Besides when she finishes her cooking, she cleans up so I have no extra work."
Turning to Carla and Massy whose ear was up listening to what Mrs. Marva was saying.
"Carla, as soon as the table is set and all the dishes are on the table you can get the others, I will be with Christa."
Feeling their eyes on his back, but he continues walking up the stairs, not looking back to give them the satisfaction.
