AURELIA
Imagine my surprise when I see both the girl that ran into me earlier this morning and Esme in the principal's office as I got there. But I didn't just see Esme too, I saw him all bloodied, the right side of his cheek was swollen just under his eyes and his lips were split, blood still coming out of it as he held a towel up to it. Going up to him I asked if he was okay and who did that to him and he said it was no big deal, completely brushing off my last question.
Though I'm sure it must have been this beautiful devil who now stood behind me. And he only confirmed it when he scoffed at what I asked Esme, turning around to give him a piece of my mind, I thought better of it since principal Flores was right here and we both had onlookers.
Apparently, someone thought I saw what happened between the beautiful devil and Esme, which I didn't. But that makes me remember just after the devil unapologetically smacked into me, I did hear a sound as if someone was groaning in pain, that must have been Esme, but I didn't see anything and the devil was turning the corner so I couldn't see if he was the one who victimized Esme.
As if thinking what I was thinking, Mr. Flores asked me if I saw anything happened, and I said no, it was the truth, all I heard was the groan, but I had no idea who or where it came from, and that's what I said to him.
After telling him that, he said to me that there was no way I was anyhow connected to what went on between the two boys and I wasn't going to get any detention so I could go back to class.
Before leaving though, I went up to Esme, gave him a little hug, and told him to get better, then I turned to the girl, "Hey, I guess, you really didn't make it in time huh!" Smiling at me she says, "yeah, as if, I was ever going to make it in time to not get detention."
But as she was saying this, I noticed she looked at the devil and scowled at him, furrowing my brows, because I'm just so confused. Is my devil the villain in everyone's story here?
I mean, he was giving everyone the stink eye, and so was Esme and- "Hey I never got your name," I realized and asked the girl.
"My name is Isadora, but you can call me Dora if you'd like, she said to me.
Smiling to her, I said, 'hi Dora, it's Lia."
We chatted for about two minutes while Mr. Flores was getting a paper for them to sign since all three of them were getting detention. As soon as he got out and took them to the class next door, as they walked in, I stayed outside and said bye to both Esme and Dora, the beautiful devil was last and as he passed, he bumped my shoulders into the door frame, looking back at me as he winked.
Since everyone was already inside and further away from us, I whisper yelled at him, "you asshole!" and he had the audacity to smirk at me, giving a little wave with his hands, he turned around as did I.
Closing the door to the class, I started walking back to class, fuming over that- ughhh, that imbecile human being! I just couldn't bring myself to curse him any more than that, and I didn't even know his name. No, I just didn't know this guy, and he infuriated me to no point, I wanted to stab his cute little eyeballs out and put it back in and say sorry. He just made me into a confusing mess and I was so angry at him for making me feel this way.
Grumbling as I get back into class, I think everyone was quite surprised to see me, or maybe they were surprised to see without *him*. Gosh, it seemed like everyone was infatuated with this boy, did he not have any limit to be mundane? He was clearly anything but, mundane though.
As I got to my seat, the girl next to me, bumped my shoulders lightly, probably to get my attention. Turning, I looked at her, she was about my height, a little taller, she had ombre blonde hair covering the edges of her hair at the bottom and black at the top. I couldn't tell if it was her actual hair color or she just styled it that way, but beside the point, it looked good on her.
Her eyes were greenish almost gold and as she was facing me and the brightness of the sun shone against her face, I could see golden flecks at the edges. She even had a button nose and freckles peppering her cheeks from the right side of her face to her left side.
She was pretty. Smiling at me she goes, "So did Mr. Flores give you a chance on redeeming yourself since it's your first day?"
"Um, what, why would he do that?" I asked her confused as to what she meant.
"Getting detention of course silly!" she says as if it is the most obvious thing rolling her eyes.
"Why would I be getting detention? Oh wait, you're talking about Esme?" I asked her.
"That guy really beat him up, his face was really bruised up," I said to her.
"Oh yeah, Cyra, that's pretty normal between those two, him beating Esme, Esme beating him, them getting detention. It's basically a routine for them. But this time, you got caught in the middle." she explained to me winking as she said the last part.
"I don't get what you mean?" I asked her.
Coming close to my face, she whispered to me, "Well Genevieve said that you saw what went down between them and she told the principal, then saying to us as you left with Cyra that you were going to get detention. Honestly, between you and me she is a bitch and so is her pack of rats." saying this as she bursts out laughing and so did I.
"So, who is this so-called bitch Genevieve anyway?" I asked her curiously after we finished laughing.
Pointing to the blonde-haired girl sitting in front of us, "That's her!" she whispered yell to me, then we both started laughing again.
"By the way, what's your name?" I asked the girl, because we were talking and laughing and we didn't even know each other's name.
Shaking her head, she puts her hand forward for me to shake it saying, "Gosh where are my manners, we're laughing and you don't even know my name. It's Astrid Zehre, nice to meet you" taking her hands in a shake, we smiled. After chit-chatting for a few more minutes, we both got back to reading and doing our work.
For the hundredth time, my work was interrupted by my thoughts, looking back at the girl in front of me known as Genevieve, I wondered why she thought and said she saw me see something happened between Esme and the devil. Which I didn't, but thinking back to the beginning of class, I remembered how the girl sitting next to Genevieve had tried to trip me.
Of course, how could I forget that she was one of the rats belonging to Genevieve's pack, so obviously they would try to bully and prove themselves to be superiors to fresh blood, me being the latter in this case.
Getting to the third period, I mentally thanked God for not getting lost again as I did with both first and second. Imagine when following the map, I barged into the janitor's closet, which was quite spacious mind you, and very neatly organized and smelled like fresh lavender, only to get away from the aromatic room and into one where boys were throwing papers all around the classroom.
The poor teacher, Mrs. Mida was running around after the seventeen and eighteen-year-olds. I felt sorry for her, but there really was nothing I could do, and clearly, she loved everyone in the class because after she got them to settle down.
She didn't even raise her voice at us, only saying, "You boys are terrible ones!" then laughing to herself and we all joined in.
By the time the fifth period came around for chemistry, and I was once again welcomed into Mr. Sanchez's classroom, the only person missing was my new friend, cute little Saph and I missed her already. But guess who I did get to see, it was my other new friend, Isadora! We even sat next to each other, completely forgetting about the scene this morning with Esme and you-know-who.
She even invited me to start sitting with her and the girls at lunch, telling her how relieved and thankful I felt at her invitation, she hugged me saying it was okay, and that I was already one of her own.
I felt so happy, I had already made four new friends and one of them was inviting me to meet more. I was thankful, even at my old school I didn't get this much hate and love on just the first day. I mean I had graduated with friends from middle school into high school so I already knew people, and they knew me. But here, everyone was nice, even the teachers, and those who weren't, they were just a pack of blood-sucking demons, that beautiful devil included.
