Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

AURELIA

The map says I have to turn towards the west corridors and then take the right at the end of the hall, room 128 should be along that corridor. Taking the turn toward the west side corridors, I passed a few classes, the few that had their doors open and teachers saw me, they smiled, and I returned it.

Between each class was at least a quarter-mile space where there were lockers lining up to the next classes. I would be assigned a locker by the end of the week Mr. Flores had said to me, although, where I'm not too exactly sure.

Almost to the end, I saw Esme and a group of boys talking. As I passed by him, he said, " hey Lia, getting around easily on your own?"

"Sure, it's only my first class for the day, I guess we'll have to see for the rest of the day if I get through successfully or I absolutely fail." We both laughed at that.

"See you later, yeah?"

"Sure," I said to him. Taking my right turn, I looked to the first door, it said 115. So, I had 13 doors more to go before I got to my first class. Continuing on my way, I saw someone take the turn at the opposite end of the hall. It was a boy, but I couldn't make out his face.

Moving to the corner, so if the guy was approaching, we wouldn't bump into each other. Suddenly I remembered the Principal said that there were sometimes two of the same room numbers. Stopping in the middle of the hall, but still in the corner, I looked back at the map and checked to see if I was on the right side of the building. And I was, so I put the map away in my bag, then I continued on my walk to the end of the hallway.

As I lifted my head the guy was suddenly not just close but, in my eyesight, and I mean literally in front of me by "in my eyesight." But it was like he wasn't even seeing me, and without even comprehending any type of warning in my brain, he just; *Smacked* into me.

Getting angry that he just walked into me, and just what is it with people smacking into me this morning. Ready to 'blow' him up, as Mom would say when someone angers her.

I looked up at the guy, "di-" Woah, holy mother of all creations. This boy was beautiful.

"Yes?" the beautiful human asked.

Remembering what just happened and what I was about to do, wait- what was I about to do again? Oh right, blow him up, that's right. Anger rising once again, I almost screeched maniacally, 'almost', "You just ran and shoved your smelly, ugly body into me, whomever you are."

Oh. my. god. What did I just say? I had no idea where that came from, not that I could control what came out of my mouth with the anger I was feeling. So, he, the gorgeous creature in front of me, would just have to deal with it.

Looking flabbergasted, the boy raised his arms, smelling it almost naturally, looked back at me with an angry scowl, getting in my face as he does this, and growled out a "no" and had the audacity to use my own words against me, "you just ran and shoved your smelly, little, ugly body into me, whomever you are."

Face getting red with shame, almost believing his words, I ground out a "no, I'm not smelly or ugly like you, and you ran into me, so you say sorry to me right this second," stomping my feet like a child as I say this.

Not even looking at me he goes, "yeah sure whatever," brushing past me as he goes, bumping his shoulders into mine, nearly sending me into the wall, which in the end supported my flailing arms as I held on before I went banging my head into it. "What the hell dude?" I shouted to his back, but he didn't even bother with me, continuing on his way to hell I hoped.

"Ugghhh," I growled for probably the nine hundredth time for this morning only, and I didn't even get to my first class.

Out of nowhere, I heard a sound, as if someone was groaning out of pain. Looking around me, I saw the guy that was on his way to hell turn into the corridor I came from. Since I couldn't see him anymore and I couldn't exactly go since I was already at the end of the corridor and my class was right next to me, I stood in silence, trying to listen really hard to see if I could hear any more sounds and deem the situation an emergency. After just staring and not seeing nor hearing much of anything I turned to my class door, taking a deep breath, I knocked three raps.

The door opened and a male teacher opened the door, smiling when he saw me. He looked to be in his early thirties, not bad for an English teacher.

"You're the new student Lia, right?" he said.

"Yeah, Nice to meet you sir" I put my hand out for him to shake.

"Will you be joining us now?"

Not sure why he would ask that I muttered "Um Yeah."

"Come on right in then." He opened the door wider, and I walked in, he closed it behind me.

"Class, I would like to introduce you to our new student, Aurelia Quintia, everyone say hi."

Standing in front of the class, I got some HI's, some grumbles of acknowledgement, even some smiles, I loved this class already. I gave a little wave with my hands and smiled as I moved my face across everyone in the classroom from left to right. Turning to look at the teacher, he said, "you may call me Mr. Sanchez."

"Okay, Mr. Sanchez, where shall I sit?" I suddenly asked, feeling really cheeky and happy.

"Hmm," he muttered as if thinking, running his eyes across the room, "Why don't you take a seat next to miss Tulip?" Smiling he says.

Looking back at the classroom, I see a girl raising her hands smiling at me, smiling back at her, I move towards where she is and take a seat next to her.

"Hey, my name is Saphira Tulip, but you can call me Saph (Saf) or just Tulip if you'd like," she says before I can even say anything. I love this girl's energy.

"Hi Saph, my name is Aurelia Quintia, but you can call me Lia," I say back to her.

I held my hands out but she just pulled me instead for a hug, laughing as she says "I can't wait to introduce you to the rest of the girls, you're so pretty!"

"Aww, thank you, you're too cute," I say to her. She blushed as we then both got over ourselves and turned our attention to the teacher in front of the board. As I did this, I immediately wished I didn't, my smile and mood changed, all the serotonin melting right off my face.

In front of the classroom, on the whiteboard written in huge block letters are the words 'Chemistry' and I didn't have chemistry until the fifth period. It was only the first period; I was in the right class but at the wrong time.

"Oh snickerdoodles," I muttered out loud without even realizing it. Everyone, even Mr. Sanchez looked at me funny, some of the kids even started laughing.

Getting up from my seat, I explained that I had chemistry until the fifth period and I have English now, so that's where I was supposed to be.

With an understanding shake of his head and a smile, Mr. Sanchez said, "It's okay Lia, we all make mistakes, you may go and I'll see you until the fifth period."

Saying thanks and muttering a 'see you later' to Saph, I left the classroom realizing the room 128 I was supposed to be in was on the opposite side and a little more to the right. Walking to that door, I knocked three raps and waited.

An old lady opens the door for me and smiles, "Hello, you must be the new student Lia, come in my dear, and welcome to St. Valkyrie high school!"

"Oh, thank you very much," I say to her. Walking into the class, she shuts the door behind me and introduces me to the class. But unlike my chemistry class, no one here was welcoming, all I heard were snickers, maybe a few hellos but no one really smiled at me. Running my eyes over everyone, I saw a group of girls, they stared me up and down with a not so good expression, it was as if I was dirt under their shoes and I could tell right away they were the group known as Queen Bee's (Qb's) and they were bullies.

"You may sit wherever you like dear, and you may call me Mrs. Quincy," the teacher interrupted me with a smile. Returning the smile to her, I searched for an empty seat, my eyes zeroed in on the one I found and I moved towards it. As I'm moving forward, I barely saw a foot dart out, it was from one of the Qb's, I knew what that was, they were trying to humiliate me by having me trip and fall on my face.

Pretending not to notice, I continued forward, and as I reached the person's feet, instead of falling as was planned, I deliberately stepped on it. Hearing a shriek shrill as the girl screamed, I feigned shock, putting one hand to my heart and the other covering my mouth, I go, "Oh my god, I am so sorry, I didn't see your foot out in my way which was supposed to make me trip." Knowing she was caught and I embarrassed her, the whole class erupted in laughter, most saying she was deserving of it.

I couldn't agree any more with them. My seat also happened to be right above the row she sits in, so I'd have a good view of seeing her fume for the rest of the class to her other companions.

The husky laughter to my left caught my attention and as I turned to look, I couldn't believe my eyes as to who it belonged to. And I shouldn't even have a doubt, the guy was hot, so of course, his laugh would also be hot. It was the beautiful devil that God had sent to disrupt my morning and the first day of my new high school.

Just great, but he wasn't looking to see the scowl on my face that was there meant for him and also due to him. As the laughter died from around the classroom, everyone turned their attention back to the teacher who then gave us instructions to take the book out from the little compartment under the desk. Further instructing us to turn to page 280 and start reading the six-page comprehensive passage and answer the sixty questions that came with it individually.

Taking out the book, I start to find the page moving to the questions section. I quickly go over them so if I find any of the answers as I am reading it won't take me long to figure out which questions the answers belong to.

As I am three-quarter way through the questions, the door opens and a woman in her twenties enters with a clipboard, looking around the class then back at the clipboard, and then she calls out, "Miss Quintia, and Mr. Valentine to the Principal's office please."

I get up and the devil beside me also gets up, it is now that he looks at me, but with furrowed brows. I finally gave him the scowl I owed him, while everyone gasped out loud as if I just insulted god. I turned my face away from him as we both walked down to where the woman stood, her telling us to follow her. Before we did, we both looked at each other then he moved following her, as I followed his lead.
