Chapter 66 - Chapter 65

"Amay~" The soothing female voice began to call out to the sleeping young woman. "Won't you come closer?"

"N-No...You're not real," Amay mouthed to herself. She began to violently toss and turn as she could feel her skin began to crawl from the woman's touch. Her breathing became heavy as her panic began to rise. Tears began to fill her eyes as she watched the figure extend their hand out trying to reach for her scar once again. "N-no..N-no," she found herself saying.

"No!"Amay nearly screamed as she jolted upright looking around. Sweat began to beat down her face as she looked around frantically to make sure everything was alright. She found herself on a tree branch right above Lucas whole peaceful slept in his sleeping bag. She felt a burning sensation come from the middle of her chest that caused her to gasp for air.

"It was just a bad dream. It wasn't real."Amay told herself as she slowly started to relax and control her breathing. With a final deep breathe, Amay's eye reverted back to normal and her horn disappeared fully.

She began to look around once again as her memories came back in order. She used one of her hands to wipe the sweat from her brow. A worried expression came across her face as she thought about how bad this one was. Her ears began to twitch as she heard the sound of twigs snapping followed by heavy foot steps.

Without a word or even making a sound, Amay hopped off the branch and landed in a crouching position as she landed next to Lucas. She began to shake Lucas slowly but started to grow more intense with each shake.

"Lucas. Lucas. Wake up," Amay quickly and quietly spoke to him.

Lucas slowly began to groan as he heard her voice and the constant shaking. His eyes slowly awake to see a serious and worried look in Amay face. Without saying anything, Lucas sat up and began to look around with a worry look in his eyes.

"What's wrong? Did something happen-" He began to sputter, before a warm hand covered his mouth. His eyes then met with his partner's red snake like eyes, and watched as she placed a finger over her lips.

"Something is nearby," she whispered to him. "I need you to gather everything quickly and be ready. Be quiet as well. Do you understand?"

Lucas could do nothing but nod at her words. A chill went down his spine at how serious she sounded. He's learned quickly that when Amay got serious, he need to listen to her words. He got out of his sleeping bag and rolled it back up, while at the same time Amay stood up giving him a hand.

After everything was put up, Amay came to a complete stop and closed her eyes. This caught Lucas attention as he was placing the backpack on. He was about to ask her if she was alright, but she held up her hand towards him.

"Shhhhh" She made the sound as she needed him quiet. Her chest began to rise and fall while she tried to concentrate.

Lucas stopped in his tracks as he felt the rush of air suddenly gathered towards Amay. He watched as her began to rise as a light red tent surrounded her body.

"Focus on that smell." Amay told herself. She could smell the scent of the forest the trees, some of the bushes, Lucas, and this new scent. It was musky and foul. She tilted her head upwards and towards the left until she stopped. With one more deep inhale of air, opened her eyes.

She used one hand to cover her nose from the bad odor, but was forced on it. Her eyes were dilated to the point her the whites of her eyes were gone. The iris of her eye began to pulsate as she began to walk in the direction.

"Follow me." She commanded Lucas as she began to lead the way.

"Okay." Lucas said lost at what he just witnessed. "Uh, so what was that just now?" He couldn't hold back as he followed behind the girl.

"I can pick up on different smells," Amay quietly began to explain to him. "If I concentrate hard enough, I can focus on one smell and track it."

"That's so cool," Lucas couldn't help but admit. A childish glee left his mouth, as he tried to stay focus on this serious situation. "So you can track things very far away?"

"Not exactly," Amay said as she continued to follow her nose to the target. "I can go within a certain range and distances, but we got lucky whatever it is, is still in the area." She said trying to focus more as the smell began to grow stronger.

"Still really cool." He said with a smile. His heart began to race with a mixture of excitement and nervousness ran through his body.

"It has its moments. Now keep quiet." Amay told him as she continued on the path as she came to a dead stop. She could feel her nose began to burn even more as the foul odor began to overwhelm her senses. A sick feeling came to her stomach as she began to furiously rub her nose. The next thing she knew the fact she was silently sneezing.

"You good?" Lucas silently asked her as he placed a hand on her shoulder. He felt Amay grip his arm tightly as she tried to focus more.

Amay quickly nodded her head as she pointed her finger towards a bush. "It's on the other side of the bush," She whispered to him.

Lucas looked at her and then at the bush for a quick moment. He couldn't tell if he was nervous, scared, or even exited about this. He could feel his arms began to shake along with his feet feeling as if they were going to give out. He could help but look at Amay again and then back at the bush. He could feel jitters running all over his body along with the butterflies in his stomach began to fly faster.

With a deep breath, Lucas mustard up his courage and let go of Amay. He began to carefully walk to the bush. Each step felt like an eternity, yet it was just within his reach. Every part of his body was telling him to walk away, but his mind key him focus.

"This is it. This is what I trained for," He began to tell himself as he took his steps. "Yet this feels so wrong. I can feel that itch in my hand. It's like that day all over again." He thought as he could see his hand began to visible shake. Even when he balled it up, it continued to shake.

His body began to feel heavy as his vision began to shake and zone in and out. His breathing became labored while his throat felt dry. Lucas pulled his hand back and started to step back from the bush. The bush that suddenly became his front door that night. As he tried to turn around and run, he bumped into something nearly making him jump.

When he was about to turn around and scream for help, a pair of hands wrapped around his head and brought him in close. His lips connected with Amay. A wave of relief began to rush over him as his body stopped shaking. All his anxiety and fears began to fade away as she began his sole focus.

As Amay pulled away from him bring a thin trail of saliva with her, she looked him in the eyes for a moment. She could hear his breathing began to slow and saw that his hands had stopped shaking. Her eyes looked into his as she moved her hands to rest on his face.

"You need to focus," she told him as quietly but stern as she could. "I'm right beside you."

Taking a deep breathe and remembering why he was doing this, Lucas closed his eyes and placed a hand on hers. With a final exhale, he opened his eyes and gave her a solid nod. He turned back around to the door that shifted back into a bush. This time when he walked towards it, Amay was by his side. When he placed a hand on the bush, Amay did the same. With a final deep breathe, they both moved the bush slightly to look at their target.

A look of shock, aww, and disbelief came over Lucas as he saw the target. He pulled his head back and did a double blink. He then looked at Amay in disbelief and then back at the massive hairy creature. He pulled his hand away and began to rub his eyes before fully looking again.

"Amay?" Lucas said in a low voice that was trying to hid his surprise.

"Yes," Amay said in a low voice making sure the creature hadn't noticed them.

"Is that motherfucking bigfoot?" Lucas screamed in a low whisper.

"Quiet down," Amay snapped at him in a equally low voice. "But yes."

Hearing her say yes, rung in the back on Lucas head for a few moments. He couldn't help but zone back to that smile his mom gave him. "That bitch," Lucas thought to himself as he could hear his mom laughing while sitting in the rv with a cup of wine in one hand.

Back at the RV,

Elizabeth sat in a sundress with a cup of wine in her hand. She hadn't stopped giggling to herself since yesterday at the utter shock on her son's face at what he probably found by now.

"I told him." She said still giggling to herself. "That will teach him not to doubt what I say ever again." A smile curled her lips as she looked out the window.

Back in the forest, both Lucas and Amay watched as the creature moved his hands in a scooping motion as he ducked his head downward.

"Okay. We got the upperhand, he hasn't noticed us or think we're just deers. Either way this gives us time to make a plan." Amay said turning to Lucas. "Lucas?"

"I can't believe it. It's real," Lucas said stuck in a daze. "This whole time. Bigfoot was real." He muttered to himself.

"Hey. Pay attention. We have a job to do." Amay said annoyed by Lucas while trying to make sure they aren't noticed.

"Does this mean the loch ness monster is real?" Or even the Jersey Devil." He continued to mutter.

"Lucas!" Amay said slightly raising her voice a little. "We don't have time for you to have a life shattering realization." She said trying hard not to snap.

"Does Mothman exist?"

"Lucas for fuck sake!" Amay said finally snapping. "If you don't pay attention, we...are...going...to...be ..caught." She said suddenly stopping as a shadow loomed over them. She could see it in Lucas face and by the energy leaking off that they were already spotted.

"Fuck," Amay said letting out a sigh as she could hear the creature snarling at them.

"It's so tall." Lucas said as his fear began to rise.

The massive creature let out a roar at both Lucas and Amay initiating the attack.
