Chereads / Amaryllis: A Demi-Human's Tale / Chapter 44 - Chapter 43

Chapter 44 - Chapter 43

"Remember what I told you," Elizabeth told Martha while standing on the verge of the stairway that led to the party. "Keep the casualties to a minimum. We don't need another Vegas on our hands." She sighed, remembering the clean-up that had to be done.

Martha landed behind Elizabeth on one knee while bowing. She remembered the chaos due to her mistake.

"I will not allow it to happen again," Martha reaffirmed in her monotoned voice.

Unlike Elizabeth, who was dressed for the party, Martha wore a tight red and black one-piece jumpsuit for the mission. The suit's body was cut off at her elbow and knees to allow for more free movement. She had reinforced gloves on that had metal strips where her knuckles would be, and instead of her regular loose bracelets, she had full metal armbands connected to her gloves. On her feet, she had patting like soles to soften her footsteps and allowed her to move much quicker. Martha had her long black hair pulled back in a low ponytail with a few strains of hair falling towards her face.

Martha's green eyes looked up at Elizabeth's back as she awaited her command.

"How long do I have?"

"Since there are 36 of them with heavy firepower, and we know there is a back exit from the reconnaissance you did. So let's say..5 minutes. Do you think you can handle that?" Elizabeth asked her daughter without turning around.

"Yes, ma'am." Martha gave a slight nod as she looked back up at Elizabeth. "And what will you be doing?"

"Me? Sweetie, you know how this always goes." Elizabeth said, giggling at her daughter. "I'm gonna make way to the target before you do." She playful teased her daughter. "Be safe, alright?"

"Yes, ma'am. " Martha answered. She looked back at Elizabeth as she waited for her to give the word. Her toes began to move as her heart beat faster with eager anticipation.

"Go." Elizabeth smiled, releasing her daughter. She heard a whoosh of air as Martha was off to do what she was. She giggled as she went down the stairs to join the party.

As she passed by some drunken people, she caught sight of two bodyguards standing in front of another door. She took a deep breath as she began to stumble a little and bump into the walls. She giggled as she continued her fumbled walk towards the two built bodyguards. She came to a stop when she ran into the chest of one of the guards.

"Oh, great. Another pre-partier." Guard #1 said as he tried to stand Elizabeth up and off him. "I hate people like this."

"Just be glad this one's actually cute this time." Guard #2 said he looked Elizabeth up and down before moving closer to his partner to better look at the drunken woman.

"I'm sorry. I might have had a little bit before I got here." Elizabeth said, slurring her words. She then pressed her body against Guard #1 and began to touch all down his body. "Say...You're kinda cute. And strong." Elizabeth said, squeezing his muscles.

"I mean...I do workout." He said, looking down at her mostly revealed chest. He thought about his options and decided to go with it. "Shit. This job does have benefits," he said, pulling her in closer while grabbing her butt and raising her dress a little.

Elizabeth bit her tongue as he raised her dress and could feel the second guard move closer behind her. She then dropped the act as she kneed the first guard in front of her and kicked her heel into the other, stabbing and pushing him back. Before the first guard could fully process what was happening, he felt the barrel of his gun on his chin. The realization was off by a second as Elizabeth pulled the trigger.

BANG

The gun went off, blowing the first guard's skull out and onto the back of the wall. Elizabeth heard the other guard curse as he struggled to pull the gun from his side, but he was too slow. Elizabeth quickly turned around and fired a bullet into his hand, then his head, killing him without hesitation.

A sigh left her mouth as she could feel her adrenaline pumping. She then fixed her dress as she hated how easily they made it and was annoyed at them for constantly trying to touch her ass. She then turned her attention to the main door as she waited for a moment to see if anyone would come out. To her surprise, no one came out, not even another guard.

"Odd," She muttered while tilting her head a little. She then pressed her ear against the door and couldn't hear a thing. Cautiously, she opened the door and was bombarded by the sound of music. Elizabeth's eyes widened as she watched different groups of humans and Demi-Humans dancing and having a good time. The club reeked of a mixture of sweat, cologne, perfume, and bodily order. While she didn't like the smell, the ones dancing didn't care.

"They seem to be having fun," Elizabeth thought to herself as she dropped the gun back outside the door and wiped her face of any blood from the first guard. She then slipped into the crowd of people and made her way to the bar. "One cosmo, please." She asked the bartender. Lucky for her, the flashing light and the significantly deemed ones made it hard for anyone to recognize her.

"Here you go. One Cosmo." The bartender said, sliding Elizabeth her drink.

"Thank you," Elizabeth said, taking her drink and spinning around to the dancing people. Her yellowish-orange eyes scanned the room as she tried to keep track of everything. She soon found herself tapping her heel on the barstool as she listened to the DJ. She noticed they were wearing a helmet that hid their face, and his lights made out a visible smiley face. She also noticed he didn't have a standard DJ kit but a fully digital set. What caught her attention the most was the magic leaking off of him to power his set and set the club's mood. "Hmph, He's good."

Elizabeth then turned her attention to count the number of guards she could see and if she could locate their target. "1...2...5....8...and 13," she mentally noted each guard she could spot. She then noticed that majority of them were hanging more towards the right side of the club towards a set of stairs. Her eyes then looked toward an entire glass window with a man holding his back to the parting people.

"Bingo," she said, taking a sip of her drink.

2:00 am

The sound of a lighter being lit filled the somewhat quiet area as a guard tried to light his cigarette for the long shift. He and three other guards were positioned outside the backdoor to ensure their boss had a leisurely getaway or if any crucial figures came by to do business with him. However, tonight has been excruciatingly slow.

As he took a puff of his cigarette, he noticed a pair of glowing green eyes looking at him from a distance before breaking through the shadow. He released the smoke as he sighed. "Another drunken partier found their way back here," he thought. He then stepped forward to try to meet them and point them in the opposite direction.

The three other guards turned their attention to watch and see how their pal dealt with this random girl. They watched as he approached the girl, then they noticed their pal slumping over. Before they knew it, he was being thrown back at them.

"What the fu-" One guard said as their friend connected with him and slammed them both into the wall, which knocked him out cold since his head hit the back of the wall.

Both guards turned back to look at their buddies and what had just happened. They quickly realized they were under attack, but it was too late. Martha was on the first guard. He tried to fire his gun, but her hands were too fast. Martha punched the man square in the stomach even through all his padding. He could feel his body lift off the ground, but she didn't stop. She held onto him as his partner decided to fire at the girl. The first guard felt the bullets spray his entire body as she used him as a human shield.

Martha then used her meat shield to rush the last standing guard. Her rapid approach caused the last one to misstep and lost his balance. As his gun ran out, he was forced to watch as the girl released his dead partner and pulled her fist back out of him. The last thing the guard saw was a twisted smile across her face and no soul in her eyes as her shadow overtook him. She punched him straight into the metal door, forcing it off its hinges and allowing her to entertain.

Steam left Martha's mouth as she felt the rush of excitement flow through her veins. She popped her knuckles as she went towards the doorway. The guard that caught his friend and passed out started to wake up. As soon as his eyes were opened and he could register the situation, he was quickly met by Martha's leg. The wall behind him formed a massive crack, and his body went limp for good just like that.

"4 minutes and 20 seconds left," Martha told herself as she took off into the base. She saw one guard about to turn the corner, so she ran along the wall before kicking off of it. She kicked off the wall and landed on the other side for a split second before launching and kneeing the incoming guard in his chest. Her right hand pushed his head into the ground as they slid for a second.

"There's the intruder! Ice that bitch." Another guard said as he and three more stood their ground and began to fire at Martha.

Using her reflex, Martha rolled to her back, raised the guard she was on, and used him to catch the incoming bullets. She held her position for a few seconds as bullets peppered the dead man. Without hesitating, Martha grabbed the dead guard's gun and began to fire at the three randomly, and she managed to get one of them in the arm and another in his chest.

She then heard it—empty clips. Martha then made her move and kicked the dead guard with enough force that he went flying towards the three. She hopped back to her feet, then rushed the three other guards while they were distracted. One guard had his face slammed into the wall. At the same time, Martha used his body as a kick-off to double kick one guard into the other. Martha quickly twisted her body and uppercut the last guard with enough force that he went straight into the ceiling.

"3 minutes and 45 seconds," Martha told herself as she heard more guards coming. Her eyes darted across the small hallway as she tried to figure out a quick plan.

As a large group of about eight guards rounded the corner, they saw nothing. They just saw 4 of their soldiers either dead or badly knocked out. They looked at the area and were lost on where the invader went.

"Where the hell did they go?" The lead guard asked as his team slowly started to walk to the bodies to check on them.

They slowly came to a stop as they realized a light was flickering. This caused them to jump a little but quickly calmed down as it was just the light. As the light continued to flash, the guards continued. Unknown to them, a figure looked down at them from that light. Martha slowly moved the piece of the ceiling she was hiding in and made her way down.

Before they could realize what had happened, Martha made her move. She grabbed the tailing guard by his mouth and used his gun to mow down his men. They didn't have time to fire back as she had the element of surprise over them. As the final guard fell, Martha coldly snapped the other guard's neck, causing him to fall to the ground.

"1 minute and 35 seconds." She thought to herself as she let out a sigh. Martha then took one of the guard's guns and held it with her left hand. She hated using weapons to get the job done, but she was running low on time and was very effective. With the gun in her hand, she ran to meet with more guards.

Back in the Club.

Elizabeth tapped her foot to the music of the DJ as she continued her cosmo. She watched the 13 guards, soon to be one, as nearly all of them went to the back room.

"Martha must be having fun." Elizabeth thought to herself as she turned around to the bartender. "Excuse me. Can I borrow a pen?" she innocently asked him.

"Sure." He said, giving her a soft smile.

His smile caused Elizabeth to giggle as she kindly took the pen from his hand. "Thank you, and have a good night," Elizabeth said as she faded into the crowd of people.

Elizabeth walked through the people and ended up on the other side of the club. She started giggling as she bumped into the last guard by accident. "Oh. My. God. I am so so sorry." Elizabeth said to the guard in a high-pitched, slurred voice.

"Yeah. Yeah. Move along." The guard said, slightly annoyed as he could smell the alcohol on the woman. He tried to push her off, but Elizabeth accidentally pulled him into a chair. His eyes went wide as he felt something sharp pierce the back of his head when it was forced back.

"Sshhh." Elizabeth coldly said as she watched the life fade from his eyes. When she dragged him into the chair, she forced the pen into the back of his head, killing him in one go. Elizabeth pretended to make out with him as she closed his eyes and mouth. She raised back up and looked at the "sleeping" guard. She fixed her dress one last time and turned around to see Martha standing there.

"You're late," Elizabeth told her daughter.

"Tight corridors and a lot with heavy guns...and bullets," Martha said as she had a visible cut on her face and blood coming from her hand.

"Fair enough. How many are left?" Elizabeth asked her as they began to make their way upstairs.

"10 at most," Martha said, following Elizabeth.

"Very well. Let's finish this." Elizabeth said as her skin turned ash gray and her bow appeared in her left hand. "Stay behind me while I do the work now," she told Martha, who nodded her head.
