"Dios Mios, Harmana." Henrietta said in surprise as she heard everything Elizabeth told her over the last month and a half. "How's my, Estrella Brillante?" she asked while taking a bite of her blacken salmon.
Henrietta had brought Elizabeth and Martha to a 5 star restaurant on the upperside of New York City where they could talk in peace. All of them were seated on the balcony overseeing some of the city life below them.
Elizabeth let out a sigh as she took another bite of her honey mustard chicken with sautéed asparagus. "So far he seems fine with learning magic, and he's doing pretty well with his training. He recently had O.M.C.S, but he should have recovered either yesterday or today. Tomorrow at the latest," Elizabeth said taking a sip of her water as she looked back at Henrietta.
"Ouch. I haven't had one of those in a long time." She remarked as she thought of her younger years. "If I may ask what trigger it and how bad was it?" She inquired while bringing her glass of chardonay to her maroon colored lips.
"Me." Elizabeth nonchalantly answered. A smile curled her lips as she watched her niece choke on her drink a little, and looked at her with shock.
"Huh?" Henrietta said in absolute disbelief. Before she could say another world Elizabeth stopped her.
"It's not what you think," she said. "He triggered it subconsciously after I got a little carried away with trying to knock him unconscious. It completely caught me off guard and he managed to land a decent attack to my stomach. His attack seemly can paralyze, because I couldn't stop my body," Elizabeth explained. She then looked to her right at Martha, who was eating a medium rare steak.
"I caught her before she was sent into a tree. His attack was really powerful." Martha spoke in her monotoned voice as she was focused on cutting a piece of her steak. She didn't have to look up to know they were looking at her.
Henrietta smiled at her cousin for acting saying something. "I'm sure he learned it from watching his older sister." She giggled as she could see Martha face turn red and she slightly missed her steak from her comment.
"Stop embarrassing my daughter, Maria." Elizabeth said giggling as Henrietta face slightly blushed as well. "Besides, it was just a surprise at the moment. He still has a way to go." She said while cutting another piece of her chicken.
"I'd say. What rank is he now on that list you and that organization came up with, and I thought you still didn't want him to learn," she said taking a bite of her rice.
"He was an F but at most is at a D now. However, that attack he did was at most a high C almost almost B. If he continues to train and becomes more in control of his emotions he will be higher up within a few years or so." Elizabeth spoke before growing quiet and placing her fork down. Her face became worried and unsure as she avoided eye contact with Henrietta. "But...I...part of me doesn't feel comfortable with him learning. It's just.."
"Hey. It's okay. You're alright to feel that way." Henrietta said seeing how torn her friend was. "I feel the exact same way about flor pequeña, but I do plan to allow her to do so. When she's a little older."
"But I chose not to teach him at all." Elizabeth confessed. "If that night didn't happened, he wouldn't have to learn."
"Harmana. Listen to me. No one is blaming you for what happened. Barely anyone knows about the incident with those hijo de puta. I didn't find out until just now," Henrietta told her. "When a lot of people didn't support your decision on not train him, myself and that "man" for what he's worth stood by you. A few more did as well." She said before placing her hand out to touch Elizabeth's.
"Let's be real. There was bound to be an incident where you were not around, and he was going to find out sooner or later. But look at what he accomplished without magic. He's got a job, finished school, and doing well. Now is a better time then any." She continued giving Elizabeth a soft smile.
"I know. I know. I...just.."Elizabeth pause for a moment thinking of all the possibilities that scare her. "I just don't want him having to deal with any of my burdens or mistakes from my past." She quietly confessed.
When she said this, Martha placed a hand on her shoulder. She knew about her mother's worries and couldn't help but feeling them as well.
"Yeah. That's what I'm afraid of as well," Henrietta confessed as well. "But our children will have to face the world on their own some day." she said so with a soft smile.
"They are the future, while we are the past." Elizabeth softly said with a smile as she rubbed Martha's hand.
"Speaking of past," Henrietta started to bring up. "How is she handling everything?" she asked Elizabeth curiously.
Elizabeth let out another sigh as she thought about Amay for a moment. "I honestly don't know. We have our moments when we talk and have fun. But every time we try to connect, it's like the tear between us gets bigger and bigger." she explained as she thought about the last argument they had.
"It's like the rift between us is too wide to fix. She lashes out at me if I try to get close or if I even place a hand on her head. I barely can look her in the eyes without seeing how much I hurt her and whatever it is inside her on that day." Elizabeth said feeling a bitter taste in her mouth. "We like strangers at this point."
"I'm sorry to hear that. I remembered how close you two were. And I can't say for sure if I would forgive myself or not in that situation." Henrietta said. "Do you think it's safe for to be around Lucas?"
"Honestly I still don't know." she answered by folding her arms. "I think that night, she saw something that made her latched on to him. She's even volunteered to be his partner." Elizabeth said before giggling a little. "It's kinda like having 3 grown kids in the house now."
"I beat it is. She's kinda his age in term and mentality relatively speaking correct? Do you think they?" Henrietta asked while raising a slight eyebrow and a smug coming across her face.
"Please as if. They are nothing like that." Elizabeth said folding her arms tightly and giving Henrietta a confident smile as well. "They wouldn't dare try something that stupid in my own house. Amay knows me best and My sweet Lulu knows not to do anything stupid. Besides, both of them aren't into each other." She confidently said.
"If you say so," Henrietta said with a shrug. She was thinking other wise. "But if she seems alright being around your son more than you, maybe it's for the best until both of you can talk it out without it ending badly."
"Yeah. You're probably right." Elizabeth said taking a sip of her water. "Oh. That remains me. Where is your brother?" She suddenly remember needing to ask.
"Please tell me you are not looking for that sorry pedazo de mierda. Él puede-" Henrietta began to complete go off about her middle brother. She didn't realize she switched over to her native tongue and began to get loud about it. The mere mention of his name made her blood boil completely over. Half of the people in the restaurant was staring at their table as they were unsure if she was ranting about something or the woman with her said something bad.
"Henrietta. Henrietta!" Elizabeth raised her own voice to calm her down. "I wasn't talking about him."
Henrietta came to a stop as she slowly began to take deep breaths. She raised her hands as if trying to calm herself down. Both Martha and Elizabeth could her hair fingers pop as she balled them into fist. With another sigh she looked towards Elizabeth. "I'm calm. I'm calm." she said through gritted teeth.
"Wow. Even though I can understand everything you were saying, even I couldn't keep up." Elizabeth jokingly told her. "No. I'm looking for the youngest one."
"Oh. You wanted Kennedy?" Henrietta asked feeling ridiculous for going off like that. "Wait, why do you want him? Did he do something?" she said almost getting ready to go off again.
"No. No. I've been looking for him for a while now." Elizabeth began to explain. "I've wanted to teach Lucas more about the Demi-Human side of things, and felt like him meeting someone with their own partner would be better way to teach him. So I've been having Edward searching for him. "
"Ooooh. Okay. I see what you're thinking now. Sure I'll tell you." Henrietta said with a smile. "If-" she added in as her smile turned into a twisted one.
"If what?" Elizabeth let our with a sigh as she didn't like where this was going.
"Depends. Do you have room for dessert?" She asked with a sinister giggle.
"Oh boy." Elizabeth said as she picked up her fork to take a big of her chicken.
