This was a formation from Kaya's arsenal that she rehearsed for the past month. It was the first time Ashleigh got it right during her enhanced state. The speed made it easy to write multiple circles, but it would typically be done in a sloppy manner. Being written perfectly the barrier wouldn't break easily.
Tanya continued to fan the storm as cracks appeared on the barrier. As the damage rapidly repaired she was left with two options. Admit defeat, or exert more force to break it. Being locked in with the storm adding more force was dangerous.
Determined to prove her worth to the others Tanya conjured flames in her left hand. The cyclone rapidly mixed with the flames making the inside of the barrier a blur. Cracks rapidly covered the barrier as it struggled to repair itself.
It appeared to be working, but inside the raging storm, Tanya was trying to gain control. The hybrid magic was more unstable than she expected. Being in such a confined space Tanya was quickly losing ground with her hands extended to the walls. She could sense a few adults heading their way, but being rescued defeated the purpose.
'At this rate, I'll never be any help to bro.' Tanya was struggling to keep the flames at bay.
Spectators rushing in to help witnessed the flames engulf Tanya. Kaya was conjuring a strong enough arrow to break the barrier and extinguish the flames in one go. Before the arrow was ready the ground began to crack, and a loud roar ensued. Following it was a pillar of flames that caught everyone's attention.
In an instant, the barrier was shattered as Kaya was knocked back along with Ashleigh. They were pushing themselves up from the ground and saw Tanya's figure through the dust. When it was cleared one could see Tanya clenching her fist as seven tails swayed behind her.
Karin was already on the way over to assist when she saw Tanya's teeth grinding. Harsh winds were swirling around Tanya as the temperature began to rise. Having two tails sprout at once was a little overwhelming. It was obvious that she was struggling to control the power within.
"I know it's difficult to focus right now, but you need to try," Karin told Tanya.
"Everything h-hurts right now, I ca-can't." Tanya was squeezing so hard blood could be seen dripping from her palm.
"At the very least try to concentrate on my voice." Karin pushed forward past the wind.
While approaching Karin continued to talk, and attempt to soothe Tanya. It wasn't an easy task, but by the time Zack arrived things settled. He witnessed the two embracing before glancing around at the destruction.
'It seems I could've stayed back after all.' Zack smiled at the two.
When the two quit hugging they noticed Zack and smirked. He was within range, and this was a training session. Both of them faced him and raised their hands in unison as their tails extended. Sensing their auras spiking Zack gestured at the others to move along.
"We can team up." Ashleigh took to Zack's side.
"I told you to take me to!" Crowley shouted as he flew in their direction.
"You sure about that?" Zack nodded ahead.
After the flames began to gather in their palms they no longer needed convincing. Everyone inside the arena glanced towards the top of the canyon. One could see several students leaping into the river as others slid down the sides. They couldn't see the attack from their location, but the trees surrounding them swayed violently.
'Not even gonna pull out your wings huh.'
Karin gave Tanya a serious look as the force increased.
"You sure don't wanna get serious?" Karin asked.
"This is meant to be training for me too," Zack replied.
"I'm sorry if it's too much." Tanya smiled.
In front of their palms was a ball of flames three meters in diameter. The wind came to a halt, and a high pitch ring took its place as the ball condensed. Zack focused his power into his palms in preparation but didn't move from his position.
The concentrated blast was already released, and Zack barely got his hands up in time. He began sliding back at incredible speeds straight for the edge. If the blast even touched his vest all five crystals would immediately shatter rendering him out.
That wasn't Zack's biggest problem since the edge of the canyon was encroaching. As his feet neared the edge his eyes went gold, and his feet dug into the rocks. Feeling the obstruction Karin applied more force. Even with Zack's durable physique, his hands began to sizzle.
'Gonna have to do this in one go.'
In a flash of light, the blast was overtaken and morphed into Zack's orb. The two were forming a steady stream, but he devoured their flames in an instant. As the next barrage reached Zack it flowed steadily into the orb.
'Underestimating us again.' Karin amplified the force as flames covered the canyon.
"That's impressive." Zack tapped Karin's vest casually.
They turned around in time for Zack to tap Tanya once. Both of them released their attack as the remaining flames were absorbed. Karin pushed forward-thrusting with her claws as Zack parried, and attempted to seize her arm.
"You're out of range," Karin smirked as flames erupted from her hand.
Zack released his grip and ducked the incoming blast as wind swirled around his fingers. He twirled them momentarily as a gust of wind swept her right leg up. Karin dropped her leg down for his shoulder as Zack blocked with his hands.
Tanya took a minute to catch her breath before aiding Karin's assault. Knowing the flames were a waste of energy she displayed her other skills. Zack learned quickly that their teachers are very thorough. Every time he adjusted to Tanya's attacks she would introduce a new style.
'She's gotten so much stronger.' Zack smiled as they continued sparring.
While they battled Crowley was watching from afar. Witnessing the battle drifting back to a manageable level he flew off to give assistance. His desire for a fight would soon be rewarded.
Lilith was nearby to investigate Tanya's condition but saw Crowley's shadow cast upon the ground. She smirked as she flew off behind him. Crowley had a shiver down his spine and looked around to investigate the cause.
'Fuck.' Crowley accelerated.
