After Kayle dealt with the two nuisances, he headed toward Karin's camp on his way he caught two wild rabbits so he can make some food once there.
The two little pitiful rabbits saw how this monster had easily killed two humans and didn't even think about resiting they only hoped that their death wasn't in vain.
When Karin heard someone coming closer, she hid the scroll of her team behind her back and grabbed her dagger while pointing it in front of her with her hands shaking, she felt afraid of whatever was coming her way.
Once she saw Kayle slowly walking toward her camp, she first felt relieved that it wasn't her two teammates as she didn't like them one bit but she quickly tensed as she didn't know this stranger.
Karin: 'He has the headband of Konoha... is he here for the scroll? I'm definitely not his match and if I give him the scroll I will get beaten once both my teammates find this out... but If I resist he may even kill me'
Karin: "S-STOP! DON'T COME Any closer~~!"
Her loud yelling quickly turns into a soft whisper as she had no confidence at all, she knew she never had any fighting training and didn't stand a chance against her opponent.
Kayle smiled at Karin as he raised both his arms in the air while getting closer.
Kayle: "Hey! I'm not here to fight! I got separated from my team... as I was walking by I saw light and thought I could take shelter with you.."
The red heard girl felt relieved, she didn't completely trust Kayle but his worlds had at least reassured her a little bit and felt a little bit more comfortable.
Karin: "My two teammates are nearby... you can't stay here, if they come back and see you they will hurt you"
Kayle: "That's strange! I looked a little bit around and didn't find anyone... I did see some blood not too far away... maybe your teammates had a confrontation with another team or some beasts in this forest"
Karin didn't know if she should feel happy that the teammates that mistreated got into an accident or worried that she could only rely on herself from now on.
Karin: "I... Well... You can stay if you want... but if they come back I can't protect you from them... it's up to you"
As Karin had expressed herself, she backed off a little, standing a little bit farther from the campfire as she saw Kayle sitting near it. She sat down quietly while observing him lowering the dagger in her hand but not releasing it yet.
Kayle didn't talk much, as he sat near the campfire he started cooking, he first summoned a few spices and rice from one of his scrolles and then started grilling the rabbits. Kayle took his time, cooking was always very relaxing for him and he enjoyed doing his best each time he did it.
The smell started slowly spreading in the surroundings, Karin that was sitting nearby couldn't help but have her mouth water... her stomach ached from hunger as she wasn't even allowed to eat with her teammates and she only had one bit of dried meat left, she started debating whether should eat it right now or not as tears almost ran down her eyes.
A clinking sound ringed near her which made her jump. In her confusion, she dropped her dagger and fell as she tried to back off as fast as she could. Once she focused once more she could see the origin of the sound, the stranger had put a plate full of rice and meat in front of her, she looked toward the blond boy feeling confused.
Kayle: "Sorry for scaring you... I didn't mean it... the meal is ready... time to dig in"
After Kayle finished his explanation he once more went back to his seat and started
Karin: "Is it really for me? Are you sure? we don't even know each other"
Kayle: "You welcomed me into your camp, that's the least I can do... there is still some leftovers tell me if you want more once you finish your plate"
Karin stayed silent, she felt a lump in my throat, she slowly took a bite as tears started running down her cheeks, the meal was delicious, she couldn't even remember the last time she ate anything this good. Well, to be more precise she couldn't even remember the last time she ate to the full, since her mother's death she would feel blessed if she could eat three times a week.
At each bite, more and more tears ran down her cheeks, she couldn't even see the content of the plate with her now blurry vision but she relied on her spoon to feel the content and keep eating, as her stomach felt more and more full her heart elt warmer and warmer. Kayle that was at her side couldn't help but sight.
Kayle: 'Poor girl...she had enured a lot... she looks like a very pitiful cute little rabbit'
After completing her whole plate she looked up at Kayle with expectation while blushing.
Kayle didn't have to wait for her request as he filled her plate once more to the beam and sat down once more.
After Karin ate three more plates while crying the whole time, she slowly laid down exhausted both emotionally and physically, she didn't even go to the small bed that was arranged a few meters away as she fell asleep near the campfire while feeling safe for the first time in a long time.
