I woke up to Caitlyn's text. I squinted as the morning sun filled my room. The dreams I had during the night resurfaced. I rubbed my eyes and blinked severally, pushing them away. I was not ready to acknowledge the uncertainty of the new men in my life.
'Cool. I'm about to leave. See you at school?
'Yes!'
Once showered, I put on a sleeveless black crop top, high-waisted denim mom jeans, and my white Converse high.
"Hey Pumpkin," my parents said in unison when I walked into the kitchen.
"Morning," I replied.
"Did you sleep well?" My father asked, kissing me on the top of my head.
"Sort of," I said.
"So, did Detective Reeves convince you to stop butting your nose into our cases?" My mother asked.
