Then, she placed the bread on the plate when she realised the date that he offered. It suddenly hit the guilt inside her.
"You can tell me what's bothering you." He mumbled, forming a cute smile on his lips.
She sighed while fiddling with her fingers. "I don't know how to say this but I'm very guilty when I accept your offer."
"Offer? Oh, the date."
She hummed.
"I don't want to force you into a relationship, Jayme. I'm happy to see you again and create a friendship with you. So please don't feel guilty just because you accepted my offer and didn't reciprocate my feelings."
"R-reciprocate your feelings? W-what's that supposed to mean?"
He took a deep breath and grabbed her hands. Then, he replied, "I like you since my eyes landed on you. I couldn't help but to fall in love with your beautiful smile, your beauty and your kindness."
"B-but…"
"I don't want to pressure you, Jayme. It's fine with me if you can't accept it and we can be friends." He explained with a smile on his face.
"I— Thank you for understanding, Xander."
"I want to ask, you still couldn't move on with Austin, right?"
She looked down and snatched her hands. Then, she shook her head and replied, "it's not because of Austin. Yes, you are right that I haven't moved on but it was my decision not to be involved with anyone and focus on my son."
"I know… George told me about it but if he returned and hurted you again. I'm not letting that happen."
She smiled and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Xander, for liking me. I appreciate your kind offer."
She loosened the embrace and smiled at him. He just chuckled and caressed her cheeks.
"Even after you met him, I still love you, Jayme and it didn't change it."
She shook her head and hit his shoulder. Then, she grabbed one of her favorite foods and started to eat it.
"Eat your food so we could proceed to our date." She mumbled and ate the rest of the food.
He bit his lips and felt the butterflies inside his stomach. It was the first time having a real date with Jaymianne and he was ecstatic.
Afterward, they went to the arcade and Jaymianne stepped close to the counter to buy some tokens. She bought lots of tokens and gave half to Xander.
"Let's play the zombie arcade." She mumbled and grabbed his wrist.
She took two tokens and placed it inside the token inserter. She grabbed the toy gun and gave it to Xander. He smiled and accepted it.
They began to play the zombie until it finished. Afterward, they followed the basketball and played it without thinking about the time.
After a half hour, they finished all the tokens and won lots of tickets. They walked towards the machine and placed all the tickets to count for them. She was waiting for the reveal and it was in thousands tickets.
"We can claim the stuffed toy over there." He said and pointed at the dolphin stuffed toys.
"Okay, let's claim it."
They gave the staff the ticket and they started to recount it. Thereafter, she smiled at them and gave their reward. Jayne thanked her and they went outside the arcade.
She sighed in relief and glanced at Xander, who was exhausted. She giggled and ruffled his hair.
"Let's go home so you can have a rest."
"Do you want to eat dinner with me?"
"I'm sorry but I can't. My son is waiting for me so I need to take out some fast food. Maybe next time."
"Of course."
Then, they went to the fast food and strolled towards the counter. Luckily, there wasn't a line and she ordered fast. Then, she took her take out food and sauntered back to Xander, who was talking on the phone.
"I'll be there tomorrow, Aus so don't worry about it."
He just laughed and replied, "I'll call you if that's what you want. Anyway, I need to go. I have a date. I'll see you tomorrow."
Then, he hung up. He looked at Jayme and smiled at her. She walked closer and asked, "who was it?"
"My… secretary. He wanted me to come to visit the site. Anyway, let's go? I'll escort you."
"No… no need, Xander. I can go home by myself."
He whined and shook his head. She sighed in defeat and nodded, agreeing to his offer.
"Okay! Let's go home!" He said and walked to the parking lot.
They stepped inside the car and Xander drove to their destination. Jayme gave her address to him and he responded with a nod. After half an hour, they reached her home. She gazed at Xander, who was waiting for her.
"Thank you for this wonderful date."
"Of course, anything for you, Jayme."
She smiled and walked outside the car. Then, she waves at him before he leaves the premises. She stepped inside the house and saw George, who was smirking at her. But she chose to ignore it.
"Where's James?" She asked.
"He's sleeping. He's been waiting for you but you are late going home. Don't worry, we are having dinner at my restaurant."
She sighed and sat on the chair. She placed the takeout fast food to the table. George sat in front of her and asked, "I saw you with Xander. What's going on between you two?"
"We met by coincidence and had fun at the mall."
He squeaked and hugged her tightly. It was the first time seeing her with another man and having a date with him. Way to go, Xander!
"I'm so happy for you! You opened yourself to others!" He mumbled and loosened the embrace.
"I'm not, George. We just met by coincidence and you know I can't involve myself with anyone. Not right now, Georgy."
He sighed and patted her shoulder. "Try to open your heart to others Jayme. You need to move on with Austin. You don't know where he is right now and he didn't even know that you two have a son."
He was right, she hadn't moved on to Austin. For her, he was her great love and no one could change that. But James wanted a father.
A father figure…
"Think about your son, Jayme. He needed a father to someone. Anyway, I need to go home. My husband is waiting for me." He mumbled and pecked Jaymianne's forehead before leaving her house.
