Angelina hands a cup of tea to Rose smiling.
"What's wrong? You seem confused?"
Roselyn knew from her previous experiences that her birth mother symbolized the evil in those tests, so she needed to look for her adoptive mother and choose her.
"I am confused" Roselyn says. Angelina stared at the space which was separating the fridge from the table.
"About what, dear?" Her voice becomes lower despite her intention to hide the frustration.
"About you being here, where you don't belong." Roselyn answers with a smothering voice.
"Don't be silly, Rose. Have some food." Angelina smiles, placing some biscuits on the table.
"This is not my home."
Her mother pretends she has heard nothing and proceed on making some tea.
"You are not my family." Rose raises her voice. Her look was directed and her facial muscles were stiffened.
Angelina turns around attempting another smile "we can be. I know this is what you want."
Roselyn chuckles, "Maybe once, now I want what is right for me and you're not." Her voice breaks, yet she keeps an intense, purposeful gaze.
Her mother froze for some instants "The only way you can come back to normality is if you kill me." She tilts her head with a smirk on her face.
"Don't act like you hate me just to convince those idiots. We both know you're thrilled to live the life you've always wanted. And this can be real. We can be a family."
Rose sighed, lowering her gaze. "I love you so much, Roselyn."
She blinks rapidly to clear the tears which formed on the corner of her eyes. "I've waited you for years. I've been waiting for years for you to be there, but be really there." Her tears run down her face, making her take a long breath. "Everyone for their birthday wished for some toy or some silly, expensive gift they would wear once in their life just to brag about it at school. But do you know what I wished for? I wished for you to call me one and apologize. Or even just tell me you missed me. But all you could do was call me once in a moon just to remind me how desperate I was to even wish for a normal family when my mom wasn't even remembering my birthday. What I hated more, more than the compassionate sorry people gave me when they discovered I was adopted, more than the teachers at school who were bringing up the grades after the parent-teacher conferences and causing the other classmates to hate me even more? I hated most that I would still have forgiven you. But not anymore. Because you don't deserve it as much as I don't deserve to live a lie."
For a long moment Angelina didn't answer. A new expression appears on her face, wretched.
She finally clears her voice. "I'm sorry, but you have no choice." Angelina summoned a ball of ice in her right hand, charged forward and threw it powerful, it reaches in few of seconds Roselyn. She hurls the iced ball back to Angelina in a quick, practiced hand movement. But when it hits the woman, it doesn't even touch her.
Roselyn frowns confused but her birth mother was giggling as she summoned a new ball of ice this time double in volume.
She was showing no mercy as she pushed out a hand and speared a huge cascade of ice and water which overwhelm Roselyn in a blink of an eye, leaving her completely breathless.
