Chereads / The Life of the So-Called NEET / Chapter 3 - The Hunt (II)

Chapter 3 - The Hunt (II)

I look at the watch on the wall and see that it is already at 5 PM. It has been an hour since I first came to this instant dungeon, and I'm dead tired. The zombies around my house increase in number every time I kill one of their numbers.

Right now, I think almost fifty zombies are roaming around on the street in front of my house. The gate that leads to my house almost busted from the zombie that saw me after I killed one of its kind. Not only that, I lost four of my original crossbow bolts as the zombie that I wanted to kill successfully ran away before it died from the burn effect.

Luckily for me, the shop sells ammo for my crossbow. Because I lost my bolts to a zombie, I need to re-bless my bolts, and by doing this, I know that my blessing can stack, but for every stack, there is a chance that the bolt gets destroyed as the material used to make the bolts is not good enough for all my blessings.

And for using all the blessing skills, my INT increases by two points, which is good. There is also an increase in my physical status. My STR increased by two points and VIT by one. I don't know why they are increasing, but I bet they increase when I wrestle with all the zombies that ambush me every time I get out to take my crossbow bolts.

~Name: Homura Ryobe~

~Job: None~

~Level: 1 (570/10000)~

~HP: 20/60~

~MP: 120/520~

~STR: 6~

~VIT: 6~

~INT: 52~

~LCK: 10~

~TP: 4300~

My Archery skill also levels up to level four, which gives me a huge advantage against the zombie around my area.

[Archery (Passive) (Level 4: 14/400)]

[Skills that show you how much you love using Bow or Crossbow. Bonus 20% of damage to all Bow and Crossbow attack]

Every time my Archery skill level up, the damage bonus increased by 5%, and while it didn't look much, it still a huge advantage. I need to survive in this place.

I say survive because I don't think I can clear this dungeon. There are stronger monsters than the one that is wandering around my house. For example, I encounter a level two zombie a few meters away from the gate of my house, and when I see his status, I immediately walk away from it as it doubles the amount of stats the normal zombie has.

I don't know the stats the dungeon's boss has, but I know that I will not see it anytime soon. Unlike many fanfics about gamers I read in the past, this dungeon will not summon its boss after I kill a certain amount of the mob that is wandering around, but rather, it has a boss room. I feel the boss room is the skyscraper in the distance where I can see a dangerous-looking red aura surrounding it.

Anyway, I'm currently sitting on top of my bed and browsing the system shop while waiting for my health to be regenerated. By the way, My VIT also affects my HP Regen as my HP will regen the tenth amount of my VIT per minute. So right now, My HP regenerates 0.6 HP per minute. My HP should be refilled in an hour or so.

Right now, I'm thinking about buying a gun, but to my disappointment, the cheapest gun in the shop cost me ten thousand TP, which I don't have right now. Not only is it expensive, but it will also be loud and attract the other zombies to my location, and I don't need a hundred zombies swarming into my house.

There is also the opinion of buying a sword, and I'm thinking of buying it right now. The cheapest sword is Flyssa, a North African sword. It is categorized as a long knife or a short sword as its size is around 30 cm to 97 cm. The price of this sword is two thousand TP.

There is also an enchanted sword, but the cheapest enchanted sword can cost me twelve thousand TP, and the enchantment it gives can be replicated through my blessing skill.

After thinking about it for a minute, I decided to buy Fyssa and a few potion supplies.

[Purchase Completed]

[Flyssa]

[The Flyssa is a traditional edged weapon of the Kabyles, a Berber tribe of Algeria, produced during the 19th century and earlier. These weapons have blades of various sizes from 30 to 97 cm and can be classed as varying between long knives and full-sized swords. Whatever their size, flyssas are characterized by narrow, straight-backed, single-edged blades, which come to an acute point.]

[Damage: 50 + (120% of STR)]

The damage dealt by this sword is more than double the amount of my dagger, but I will keep the dagger just in case.

[Lesser Small Health Potion]

[Small Health Potion that gives a lesser effect compared to other potions. This potion will give an instant 5 HP every time you consume it.]

While the 5 HP looks not much, this potion can be my lifesaver in an emergency.

I then look at my status and see that my MP is almost full, so I place my new sword on the bed and bless it.

I continued to use my skill on the sword four times and stopped because it was the max number of blessings my bolts could take before it broke my bolts into pieces. I don't want to take a risk as I cannot buy another sword yet.

[Fire Flyssa]

[This is a normal Flyssa but has been blessed with Fire attribute]

[Damage: 70 + (120% of STR)]

[Effect: Burn the target that causes the damage of 8 per second for one minute]

Satisfied with this enchantment, I get up from my bed and drink two Health potions to make my HP full. Right now, I want to explore the area and see if there is a treasure chest lying around somewhere. I want to do this before the sun goes down.

I walk toward the door and hesitate for a few seconds before grabbing the doorknob and opening the door.

As I open up the door, I see two zombies in front of the gate. Slowly I aim for the zombie on the left and fire my crossbow at its head and see the zombie catch on fire. Seeing its friend catching on fire, the zombie on the right looks at me and begins to charge at me but sadly, for it, the gate still holds it down long enough for me to reload my crossbow and shoot it on the head.

Seeing the two zombies dead, I open up the gate and pick up the bolts lying on the ground. However, before I could take a breather, I heard a group of zombies quickly walk toward my location. I look to my right and see a group of four zombies coming right at me.

I quickly reload my crossbow and fire the one in the middle before quickly reloading again and shooting another one in the middle. When the zombie is close enough, I take my sword out of inventory and do a quick slash and take out my dagger from inventory and stab the zombie to the left using my left hand.

When I see them catch on fire, I quickly finish them off using my sword.

Seeing both of the zombies dead, I pick up my bolts and reload my crossbow before walking toward the local convenience store to see if there is anything inside.

Slowly I walk toward the store while killing every zombie I meet on my way. After twelve minutes of walking and fighting, I arrive in front of the local convenience store. From the outside, I can see twenty or so zombies inside the store wandering around aimlessly.

After taking a deep breath, I walk inside the store. When my feet touch the floor of the store, the zombie immediately runs toward me. I shoot one of the zombies using my crossbow before storing it inside my inventory and taking out my sword.

With my sword and knife in my hands, I fight the horde of zombies while drinking my potions from time to time.

The fight is rough, and I can feel intense pain from the zombie's bite and scratch. If not for my Gamer Mind skill, I already lose my mind and die because of the pain. I continue to fight against the horde, using my sword and knife for ten minutes before I kill all of them.

Seeing there are no more zombies on the first floor, I decide to go to the second floor, but before I go upstairs, I drink another potion and reload my crossbow. I also take time to buy another batch of potions from the shop as I underestimate how much damage I take in close combat fights.

Slowly and carefully, I walk upstairs, and when I arrive on the second floor, I see the size of a zombie as the one downstairs.

"Welp, here we go again."

I shoot one of the zombies in the head and aggro all the zombies in the room with a quick aim. However, instead of fighting them head-on, I run toward the nearby office and walk inside and lock the door. When I see there is one zombie in the office, I quickly kill it with my sword. I then move all the desks and anything that I can move behind the door.

I can see the zombie banging the door and even quickly destroying the upper half of the door. However, I'm not standing there and doing nothing. I stab every zombie I see through the gap they make and kill them.

This continues for twelve minutes before I successfully kill all of them.

After killing all the zombies on the second floor, I began exploring the area to search for something useful. I continue to search the second floor and even check the room on it but do not see anything useful. However, when I walk inside the manager room, I see a level two zombie standing in front of a brown chest.

~Zombie (Lvl 2)~

~HP: 400/400~

~MP: 0/0~

~STR: 10~

~VIT: 40~

~INT: 0~

~LCK: 0~

This zombie stats is double up the number of regular zombies, but I know I can take it head-on as there was only one zombie in the room. I quickly shot the zombie in the head with my crossbow and slash it with my sword.

[DING]

[+2 EXP and 20 TP]

A few seconds later, I look at the zombie that slowly vanished and walk toward the chest in front of me. As I open up the chest, I see a glove sitting inside of the chest.

[Worker Gloves]

[A normal work glove that can protect your hand. Give you a bonus of 5 HP]

I immediately equip it and see that it becomes invisible, but I know it was there. I guess I'm lucky that I can see it because it will not be funny to see myself walking around wearing mitch match clothing.

I also see there is something different with the armor I got. The only armor that gives an effect is the one I got from either the shop or the dungeon. The cheapest armor I see in the shop is around five thousand TP. So yeah, I cannot buy it. It looks like I need to explore the area and test my luck if there is a treasure chest.

Anyway, I walk away from the store and go back to my house.

Thirty minutes later, I arrive at my house. It Looks like the zombie re-spawn and spawns more of its kind, so I need more time to arrive inside my house. I look at the clock, and it shows that it was already at seven PM.

I will rest for the day and continue my hunt tomorrow.
