What is wrong with this damn archipelago and it's technology? Every time I think there is nothing that can surprise me, a brand new technology shows up and makes me drop my jaw to the floor. From now on, when I speak about robots, I have to specify if I am talking about golems from Arcadion's workshops that you can pilot or the automatons from workshops in Sur Carys that are human size.
Like seriously. I am happy for our guys up there in the north and I wish I could be in Sur Carys right now just so that I can see them. But where did this come from? I heard nothing of any similar ideas or research when we were there. I guess with the war preparations against Frostlings on the way any crackpot idea will be adopted if you can prove it works. Imagine if they start to make actual tanks on the battlefield. I would have to put „" every time when I am talking about this supposed world.
And to think I was once the head of R&D when Ortus Council of Nations was still around. Well, I was the head in order to save my career before it even got started. Now imagine if Greenfield Incident didn't happen and I had an actual chance at taking Branicki's spot as commander of the army. Who knows where would that have lead me. But what's done is done. Every decision I have made has led me to here and now I must live with it while I am truly confused on the technology of this world.
If there is something I should have stop doing by now, it should have been to actually care about my family and not just ignore them for too long. I kept saying to myself it was for their own protection and safety and I was keeping them from the dangers of my work. If you need an example on how well that worked, just look at my oldest daughter Angela. After joining the army like I did, she ended up with a failed kidnapping attempt and diagnosed PTSD after Voice. Yeah, I feel horrible because of this. It doesn't help that it looks like I am doing this again.
My sister was concerned about me since I was spending so much time with Rigurd. I guess I was doing that without realizing it. However I did explain to her on why was this important for me and she finally realized what I am going through. Imagine getting reborn with all of your memories inside a brand new body in a new world. No matter how much I wish for it I will never be able to see my parents, my daughters, my husband or any of my friends ever again. I don't even have a picture of my old self to show how I used to look like. All I have is burden of old memories that aren't helping me in any way. All I can do is bury them and pretend to live a normal life, a quest failed from the start.
At least the life goes as normal in the city even with all the war preparations going on. You would expect that after the last expedition people would be opposed to this. However considering the threat of the Frostlings and the fact that they left half of continent of Locrum covered in eternal ice does help in accepting the truth. Of course if you walk through the city you wouldn't notice any concerns on people's faces. I guess splitting the preparations between here and Sur Carys and making Sur Carys the main base of operations didn't make the people worry. That's what the scouting reports are for.
Due to Frostlings behaving differently compared to what are they expected to do has made the people create all these crazy tales about what their plans are. Silence is never a good thing in war even if it's yet to start. At least Tigrans will gladly cooperate with us on this war. Prince has managed to convince a Tigran chieftain from Sidyu to join the colonial army as one of its commanders.
Sadly he didn't get a warm welcome from his fellow Tigrans when he arrived in Metzaca. We knew there was bad blood between Tigrans from Sidyu and Kusahne. But to be so horrible that there were several attempts of murder of chieftain was beyond anyone's imagining. Council in the end sent him immediately to Sur Carys to take over the command of the army there. I really hope we can avoid these kinds of incidents in the upcoming war. Otherwise this could cause major issues later down the line.
One last thing for now. We finally made official contact with our southern neighbours. They are colonies belonging to the Emerald Council, an elven nation back on the continent. According to the official information the leader of the colonies is Prince's former fiancée which is strange. Prince has been leading Metzaca for several years now. Why was there no official contact until now? The only thing I can think of is reluctance to make political moves due to the cold war between goblins and elves. Well, whatever the truth is, at least we have a secured southern border for now. Gotta make use of that in the time to come.
