As I write this the final preparations are underway for the post-war celebrations since the colonial army is less than two days' worth of march away from here. I am sure they will get some deserved downtime during the stay here. I can imagine what horrors they have seen during that siege. Not to mention it has been over a year since they left the city. I am sure the taverns and pubs across the city will be filled with soldiers that will have a lot of stories to share. And a lot of them will be connected to three ships filled to the brim with gold and treasures from the conquest. Didn't expect to see that much treasure coming from the conquest. It doesn't take a genius to notice a lot of mouths are salivating at the prospect of seeing this treasure and maybe even getting a piece of it for themselves. Poor garrison and the city guard. They won't be getting any free days during this all-hands-to-deck kind of situation.
Cass also returned home 2 days ago. I will admit that all of us missed her. We really did make her a part of our family. You can imagine the smile on her face when this was made clear. Shame I didn't exactly make the best impression the first time I saw her again. Because I have been training during the night I had been more tired during the day so I took a nap and had a dream about the first time I was proposed. Yeah, it was awkward when they woke me up and I nearly accepted it. It's got to be one of most embarrassing moments of my current life. I don't think they will be dropping this any time soon.
At the very least, everyone is happy for her to be here. I did get to ask her about her new post and, well, there IS something going on behind the scenes. She refused to answer much, saying she came home to relax before taking on a long journey to Ermendal. I understood that so I dropped the subject. She was also a bit tense when talking about the other merchants with my sister. I don't know what's going on, but with pretty much everyone important to the colony currently present here, we might see something happening during the celebrations.
Speaking of being tired, I think I should reduce the training at night. While it was proven to be a great idea, I think I went overboard with it. As I already wrote, I have been taking naps during the day since I have been tired recently. When you fail to realize that there is a person nearby, it's clear you have some kind of problem. Now because of this I have a new nickname amongst other archivists. Thankfully, it's nothing too damaging. Someone just overheard me sing while I have been relaxing. So now everyone has been calling me Nightingale. I don't hate the nickname. I just wish they bothered to think more instead of simply calling me a bird name because I had a bird myself.
Huh, don't exactly have much to go on right now. Guessing this is a lull before the storm if my instincts are anything to go by. I just pray whatever this storm is, it doesn't end up ruining everything.
