Chapter 6 - Sixth entry

It has been over a year ever since I started doing this diary. I am surprised I have written so little in it so far, but I suppose the everyday life is too boring to write about.

So, let's start with family update, now that we have settled down in Metzaca. Linne has started working in Korvin Trade Company. Ferlin has found a small shop where he can continue learning about herbalism. As for me, I enrolled into a local school since I „need" to continue my education. I wish this world had something interesting to spice it up so that I wouldn't be bored. Sadly any knowledge I have forgotten or is different on this world, like for instance history, I can easily find in books. So I am stuck in class bored out of my mind. I think I might try to convince my sister so that I can be homeschooled. It might be better in the long run for this to happen. Also I did manage to find a safe place to practice my magic without risking lives so there is that.

At least there have been some major events with the colony so there is something interesting going on. The recent report has revealed on what happened with the southern town of Frynghid. One of three major settlements on our island, it stopped sending reports and taxes years ago. Many believed that it did the same thing as we did and chose go independent after the fall of Kingdom of Sathen. But it's fate turned out to be much worse then anyone had expected.

Frostlings, remnants of Archmage's Rebellion that happened on the mainland over 30 years ago, have captured the city and killed everyone in it. Many people were horrified at the first-person reports from members of the army who had returned here with Mr Storm. At least the army returned the favour and killed all Frostlings who settled in the city. All that is left is to rebuild and resettle. I am surprised there is already an interest considering Fryngid is also in the frostlands. Must be the financial potential that is also present in Sur Carys.

There is also much bigger news from that expedition than anyone had expected. According to the official sources MS Unicorn, which I have to make sure I don't confuse with the former Crimson Company ship, has encountered a never before seen species on one of the islands. Or at least that was assumed before some news from Sur Carys came in. It looks like White Unicorn incident might be more significant now than we know the context for that.

A member of Ti'Haaran race, it seems you actually spell it with two As, came onboard the colonial ship and went with it to Fryngid where he met the Prince and told him about his situation. It appears the Crimson Company is catching live Ti'Haarans and selling them into slavery. The Ti'Haaran must have convinced the Prince to liberate his people because I am not sure he is fully aware of what happened in Sur Carys. In order to liberate them he split his army in two and sent the force under Mr Storm back to Metzaca while he and his force took the transport ship in Frynghid's port and left for the south.

There are mixed opinions on this move. Most think that gaining more allies would be great for the future while some, mostly the city council, believe he should be imprisoned for breaking the law. I was surprised to see Cass supporting the latter belief too. She was granted a temporary seat on the council as a part of Mercantile Faction to decide about Prince's fate. Judging from the angry arrival of the commander of the garrison to Company's building after the vote and results posted the day after, people were surprised to hear that the council voted for the support of the expedition. I even heard Cass rehearsing her argument for Prince's arrest so I don't know what went wrong. I will ask her after she returns from the north.

I guess as a punishment for failing the vote she was ordered to be a part of the operation to stop the bandit attacks on the highway between Sur Carys and Metzaca before they start spilling over to the south too. Hopefully, she will enact revenge for our parents as well as many others who lost their wares and lives to those bastards.
