Chapter 27 - Deathnight Hunting

A while had passed and they had entered the game.

"Hey Josh, would it be fine if you defend me from now on?", France said.

"Yeah, It's fine. The problem is that my maic is straight forward." Josh replied whilst he pushed up against his lower lip.

In a matter of a Irl week France had raised his level close to that of Josh. Some of the praise could be told to Josh who had helped France with hunting monsters, but it was France who had the gamesense to know where to hunt them.

France had been gripping the sword and inspected the amount of wear and tear it had gained in the matter of a few weeks in the world of Lothaedon. "I need a new sword", France rubbed his fingers along the unsharpened edge of the blade.

"Then let's go to the blacksmith", Josh tried to think of an immediate solution.

"No, It'll break faster and faster since the quality lower than my needs as of this moment.", he sheated the cracked sword and looked directly at Josh.

"So what do you suggest?", France asked.

"I... have no idea"

"As expected, since I there's not really much we will do. How about looking for a greatsword from a deathnight?"

"Sure!" Josh replied excitedly.

"Well then let's go", the both started walking towards the Southern Forest of War.

Normally any swordsman will hunt Deathknights instead of the "Deathnight".

Deathnights were creatures formed by liches, how they came to be or they were formed off of was unknown. They were humanoid but they had a head with an elongated snout, and they hovered off the ground without a lower body.

They were speculated to come from Zhlovurn, basically the hell of Lothaedon. They also carried lighter one handed weapons, swiftly using them like claws to tear through flesh and rend bones.

They were called this way because most stories regarding them where a hunter or a child came to the woods at night, they would die before they would even have a chance to scream.

As they walked ahead France started to hum. He had proper timing and rhytim when doing them however his tone was off at certain cases.

Regardless, Josh stayed quiet and just walked beside France. He had no Idea where the forest of war was situated on so he followed France. Who, even as someone who was relatively new at the game had a far easier time than Josh ever could have.

After a while the sun had come to set, and both of them were just about to enter the Southern Forest.

"So what does it look like?", Josh said as looked around.

"Anything without its legs is likely a deathnight, that and they should carry a weapon that has a serated part on the lower half of the edge", France answered with his sword raised.

"Surprising how you know so much about it..."

"Use the "Player's Guide" next time."

Josh had heard the sound of metal clacking in the midst of their conversation.

Josh nodded and lowered his gaze. His hearing capability as an elf was far better than a human and dwarf and he used his ears.

The blowing wind from the left, the sound of the leaves around them, and the sound of swords far beyond them.

"Over there", Josh pointed towards the sound.

France ran with him to the source.

Just a few seconds after they ran towards it the sound of the clashing swords stopped.

A blue tinge of light faded when they reached the fight. Judging from the fact that here was only one monster, it was likely a player died fighting this thing.

"Ready yourself, Josh it's a deadnight!"

"Right!"

France took a stance with his left as the lead foot, his swords handle was at the level of his shoulder and it aimed down the ground.

The deadnight dashed towards France and swung its serrated dagger.

[Fwiiing!] France had aimed for the foible and redirected the deadnight's swing by using his sword to make the dagger slide along the blade.

Normally, France would use this to counter and get inside his opponent's range of motion, however the fast, eratic movements of the deadnight made it far riskier to do so.

Josh fired off a slab of stone as the deadnight still had its hovering body facing the ground.

In an instant the deadnight sliced the stone cleanly in half. It stared directly towards Josh before it casually blocked a surpise attack from France.

The deadnight was known to be a strong miniboss, however no one stated that it could easily block attacks from most angles.

The deadnight swung his sword to France and once more its attack was deflected. Rather than swing the sword again the deadnight punched France.

France jumped back right before the deadnight's fist could touch him to reduce the impact.

Still, France had the wind in his lungs knocked out of him and he started coughing up.

Using the opening it thrust its dagger towards France's head.

"Josh! Now!"

"Earth's Embrace!"

The ground had potruded and hardened right as the dagger could hit.

John didn't construct a wall, what he constructed was a dome with an exit at the back.

"Explosive Meteorite!"

A rock rapidly accelerated towards the deadnight from above.

The deadnight cut the rock before it could reach-

[Kabooom!]

A medium sized explosion had occured, the force was enough to completely rip the leaves off of the trees close to the blast.
