On the second day of their physical test, each one of them got a scheduled time with Scarlet. Their other subjects were canceled due to their test which is held by the Executioner herself.
The classroom that the class-s are using has uneasiness and worriedness lingering in the air as Lily doesn't seem to be coming back even though her schedule with Scarlet already passed minutes.
"Did she fall in the volcano or something? Why isn't she coming back?" Brian talked as his feet repeatedly stomped at the ground as a sign of his uneasiness with the situation.
They were together for about six years and so on. It wouldn't be surprising to know that he's worried about her for she already treated her as his sister.
"You're not funny, Brian." Delora said seriously, unamused with what he said and sighed as she tries to calm herself. "Why did Scarlet told her to grow plants in the mouth of a volcano? Isn't that dangerous?"
Neodelle leaned back on his chair. "She wants her to block Lily's blind spot in her power. She knew that Lily can't do anything in a fire-type field."
"I really can't get what's going on inside Scarlet's mind," Vezkud said and rested his cheek on his palm. "It's natural to have a blind spot. Everybody has weaknesses, you know?"
"Maybe she doesn't have a weakness." Vantel said.
"Hey…" All their attention went to Virgo as she sounded a bit tired based on her tone. "We're all worried about Lily here but why is she still asleep?" She jerked her thumb towards her back where Violet was, sleeping deeply on her desk that even a loud noise can't even wake her up.
"Maybe she's doing that to prevent herself to be nervous." Brian hunched. "But how can she sleep like that when we're having the pinch of our life here?"
The door swung open and Lily went in as well as Scarlet who was behind her. Lily has this spaced expression while having some black spots from the coal that she came in contact with, making her look like she hasn't showered for days or week.
She looked worn out and she fell down the floor, exhausted by her test and immediately going to sleep.
Delora stood up worriedly. "Lily?!" Delora exclaimed and the rest of them stood up while looking at Lily worriedly.
"She's just sleeping." Scarlet said to them, unbothered by the sudden faint. "Somebody tell her to work her stamina after she wakes up. Now, we'll proceed. Violet."
Virgo gulped as she kicks Violet's desk on her back, still asleep and unaware of everything that recently happened.
Scarlet's face that was covered by her mask didn't hinder to tell them to know she was not liking how one of them slacks off.
Virgo, who was nervous and scared in Violet's stead, decided to forcefully kick Violet's desk, and finally, she was finally awake.
"Violet. It's your turn."
Violet stayed for a second on her seat, probably getting herself after a nap, before standing up. She silently went to Scarlet's side and they faded as soon as she got close without even exchanging words with her.
There was silence as they look at the same spot where the two disappeared into thin air. After a while, they started to go back to their respective seats while Virgo helped Lily to sit down on her seat, who was still unconscious.
"Wait." Brian looked at the ceiling and wondered. He got some of his classmates' attention while he was squinting his eyes on the ceiling. "Did somebody know where they were headed to?"
At a faraway place, on the top of a mountain where there were hints of snow and even the clouds are present in vision, Scarlet and Violet slowly surfaced with their form from a fire that faded afterward.
Violet roamed her eyes around until it stopped at Scarlet who was adjusting her mask without bothering to take it off.
"Now..." Scarlet slowly opened her eyes and looked at the lady covered in bandages all over her. "What we need to do is to wait for two hours."
Violet nodded and laid down. The cold wasn't a big deal to her as she was unbothered by the temperature. "Sure." She said and turned sidewards. "You can go now."
Scarlet just stared at her for a while before turning her back towards her. As she walks away, she slowly fades into thin air and her presence in the place were nowhere to feel.
When the classes ended and the sky was in orange and red cloud edges, Scarlet surprisingly used the door as she enters the classroom of her week-long students.
One by one, they came out wearing tired and worn-out expressions except for Lily who had just recovered, and Neodelle who hasn't got a hard time.
As they chatted about the things that they experience while they walked toward the reception area, they didn't notice Violet who stayed in their classroom and just looked through the windows. Pondering in her thoughts.
She extended her hand to the window and noticed the bandages that she wears. She sighs as she takes a closer look at the bandages.
She rested her chin on her palm then she moved her hands as she hummed a melody that only she and her cousin knows.
An image of two girls facing their back toward the perspective with her light blond hair and blue gown flashed in her mind as well as the giggle of the particular girl rang in her ears while the girl with long black hair wore nothing expensive but just a simple cloak.
Violet can't help but to face the window again and mumbled to herself. "When will Gordon arrive? I'm bored here."
On the other hand, the nine students kept on chattering nonstop. They don't even notice that one of them is missing as they walk.
"After this physical test, there's another thing to look forward to, right?" Lily grinned widely as she skipped her steps.
"Another thing?" Aaron asked as he hold his shoulder. He was moving it in a circular way.
"Huh?" Lily stopped at cast a curious glance at Aaron. "You forgot?"
Aaron twitched at the sight of Lily's expression. She was being cute and he doesn't like it. He doesn't have a soft spot for cute things... As well as beings. "What did I forget?" He asked with a sour expression.
"Ah." Vezkud put his index finger up when he realized what Lily was talking about. "Is it about the 'Teacher's tasks' week?"
"Oh..." Aaron nodded when he remembered it but still wears his expressionless face.
"Dummy. It's not a week yet. The week is for the middle month of the school year. Don't be so excited." Delora chuckled.
"What's exciting about being in the same team as those low class who are ready to stab our backs?" Vantel said and scoffed. "Just the thought irritates me."
"I remember them plotting to push me on a cliff," Virgo said. "Sadly, I pushed them instead." She shrugged and put a smug face on, proud of the reverse card that she used before.
"Did you really push them or whacked them on the head to the cliff's direction?" Theodore glared at her who just pouted.
He still remembers how the advising teachers of those students scold him because of his classmate's actions as he stands as their president and representative of their class.
"My group was mostly composed of airheads." Vantel uninterestedly said. "Like Vezkud." He even added an example.
Vezkud awkwardly laugh. "Thanks, couz."
"That's not something you should thank for."
"Haha. Is that so?"
"Don't talk to me. You're pissing me off."
Neodelle scoffed at the cousins. He thought that Vantel sure had a bad time with him during their adolescence.
Delora took notice on Neodelle's expression and nudged him on the elbow. She got his attention and she smiled at him.
"How about you? What happened during your last teacher's tasks week?" Delora asked him., quite curious about his experience as she can't remember him talking about it
Neodelle blinked and stared into space. "I wonder what did I do..." He mumbled.
"He won't recall it. As I remember he said that it was so boring to the point he doesn't even remember a thing." Theodore said that made Brian laugh. He remembered the moment when Neodelle went to them and said those things.
"Did I?" Neodelle unknowingly asked. He really has no idea about what happened before.
"You tend to forget those boring things, Neodelle." Virgo said. She was leading their group on the walk back. "By the way, I think these words from us are making you excited, am I right Violet?" Virgo grinned and looked behind her to take a look at their new classmate.
The latter went silent when Virgo blinked for a few times. They looked behind them and even on their sides but there was no Violet nor a mummy found.
Delora blinked. "Where is she?" She asked them.
"Girl, we don't know?" Virgo responded.
"Forget about her." Neodelle swayed his hand in the air. Dismissing the topic about the girl which he doesn't really click with. "She's old enough to find her way to her room."
Theodore sighed at his friend's word. "Man... Why do you hate her so much?"
Neodelle's eyebrow arched up. "I don't hate her. I just dislike her." He cleared up.
"Isn't it just the same?" Aaron asked.
"It's the same for you since you don't know how to differentiate the two."
"Really?" That made Aaron think, unaware of the truth.
"Then why do you dislike her that much, Neodelle?" Delora asked. Even the rest were interested in his answer.
"It's just simple." Neodelle sighed and looked away from the eyes of his allies. "It's just I don't trust her that made me dislike her. She's like a fake person, you know?"
"I don't trust her too but I don't dislike her." Brian shared his perspective.
"It's because we're two different persons, Brian. Just because you like cheese, it doesn't mean I like that too."
Lily gasped, surprised. "Did you just say that you dislike cheese?!"
Neodelle's eyebrow furrowed on Lily's accusation. "I just used it for an example though." He said and looked away again. "But I didn't say that what I said was not true." He mumbled.
Virgo nudged Theodore by her side. "He just shared with us something that he dislikes." She whispered to him. "Let's put various kind of cheese on his doormat." She suggested, plotting a prank against their classmate.
"But it's a waste."
"We can just make some replica and put one real cheese on the center."
"Okay then. Count me in."
After a couple more days, the last day of their physical tests came to its last day. Scarlet with her cloak and alive hair like a fire entered the room without even making any sound from her combat boots that looked so painful if she were to step on someone.
The collar of her cloak reached beneath her crimson eyes which made everyone really curious about what her face looked like. They haven't seen anything beneath her eyes.
"I must say that your abilities and skills quite improved in the last few days." She started and her cold voice echoed throughout the room, even sounding insincere. "I'm impressed." She added although she didn't sound as impressed as what she said.
Before the latter can even say their thanks, she immediately put her hand up. She snapped her finger and a red paper appeared in front of each one of them. They took a look at its contents and their eyes widened at it.
"From now on, that'll be your daily method for your attendance. I reduced some exercises and added more to those who lack at some areas. It may be harsher than before but you'll grow with it." She said while the rest just gulped at the hell training regimen that she gave. "I don't even want to do this but instead of listening to all of your shits, I'll only pick one who wants to say something before we part ways. Anybody?"
The s-class looked at each other and with that, they agreed on their representative
Theodore raised his hand and stood up after Scarlet called his name.
"We would like to thank you for taking the time to train and help improve us in just a matter of time. We are also—."
"Cut it off, Theodore. Summarize your speech." Scarlet said that made them sweatdropped.
'She sure is impatient.' All of them said to themselves while Violet just silently stared at Scarlet.
"We, s-class, thank you for the things you've done!" Theodore tried again and stood proudly in front of the week-long teacher. "We would like to see you again. Thank you for the week, Scarlet!"
Scarlet just stared at him for a moment before nodding.
"Welcome." Her not-so-cold voice said as she immediately disappeared from their sight.
