Chapter 40 - Why Does She Insist on Ruining Everyone's Life!?

"Cookie, No!" Liam called out as his dog ran into the forbidden guest room.

'Oh no! What if she breaks something? Dad would be really mad...He'd also be mad if I go in there. But why is the door open? He usually keeps it locked... Just a quick peek.'

"Cookie?" Liam entered the room.

Cookie was sitting on the bed.

"Bad girl! Get off the... Ahhhhhh!" Liam noticed something else was in the bed and fell back screaming.

'Is that a person? Are they alive? Has dad been keeping this person in here? Is this what he was hiding? They don't seem dangerous... I need to get closer to get Cookie anyway.' He quietly and carefully inched closer. 'Blue hair? Kellian has pretty blue hair like that. She looks a lot like her too. Wait. She is Kellian!"

Cookie stared at Liam tilting her head while holding a piece of paper in her mouth.

"What do you have there, girl?" She handed him the paper.

"A note?"

'It reads. To Mr. Rhodes. I'm quite busy sorting out the potion. Hopefully, she doesn't die on her own until Ryder gets back. Jinx.'

"You've got to be kidding me! What kind of half-assed– Sigh." Liam grabbed his phone and called his father.

"Liam. Daddy's at work. Can you call me back later?"

"Jinx is the witch person, right? Did you know that she left Kellian alone? She left a note saying she was busy and that she hopes Kellian doesn't die until Ryder gets back."

A loud slam was heard from the other end of the phone.

"Ryder isn't getting back until around the end of June," Tyler said through gritted teeth.

"That's like three months from now!"

"I knew that witch couldn't be trusted! Ugh. Now I have to find someone to care for her. That's going to take at least a day."

"What?"

"Yeah, she isn't your average werewolf. We need to hire someone who is okay with humans. Finding someone like that will be hard."

"...What do we do until then?"

"You'll have to try and convince your mother to do it for now. I'm working on an investigation right now. I won't be back for a while I'm out of the country right now."

"Mr. Rhodes we're under attack!" Someone yelled from the background.

"Damn! I have to go. I'll call when I find a solution. Bye!"

The call ended.

'Mother? There's no way she'd help. I guess there's no harm in trying. If she agrees I'll just have to watch her.'

Meanwhile.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Geez! I said I was coming—"

"Mother!" A girl hugged Mrs. Rhodes.

"Amanda?" Sheila questioned.

"Hello, Mrs. Rhodes." A little girl greeted.

"I see you brought your little sister... Hailey?"

"Amy." Amanda corrected.

"Right. Hello Amy."

Amy smiled.

"So..."

"Right! Come, come." She brought them to the kitchen and gave them glasses of water.

"So, what brings you here?"

"Well, you see. Ryder is a part of the Art club and that girl that was kidnapped is a part of the club. I thought we could go visit her in the hospital together." Amanda explained.

"How cute! Is that why you're dressed so modest today?"

"Partially. I think Ryder would really like this look as well."

"Really? Is the sexy thing not working?"

"It isn't. Plus there's a girl he's been friendly with recently and she wears stuff like this."

"A girl?" Sheila didn't like that.

"Yeah, since September."

"Is that why he was spending more than usual?" She put two and two together.

"Probably."

"He started making extra lunches too!"

"That was definitely because of her!"

"Ugh! I'm going to have to look into her and see what we can do." Sheila said, annoyed.

"Please do she's so annoying!"

"Has she bothered you?" Sheila asked.

"Only all day every day! She even attacked me! Can you believe that!? B-but she was so weak I was afraid of k-killing her so I couldn't fight back." Amanda lied through her teeth.

"I really will have to do something about her!"

"Anyway, where's Ryder?" Amanda asked.

"Oh. He's not here."

"Where is he?"

"On a three-month mission." Sheila's eye twitched.

"How could Mr. Rhodes be so cruel!?"

"It was Ryder's choice." Sheila grew more annoying.

"Is he that desperate to avoid me?" Amanda continued jumping to conclusions.

"And It's to look for potion ingredients for a disgusting, ugly, putrid, blue-haired human!" Sheila's face contorted angrily.

"Blue-haired... human...?" Amanda was shocked.

"That's what I said. I don't even know where he found that thing!"

"It's her." Amanda struggled to contain her anger.

"Huh?"

"The girl he's friendly with is the only blue-haired person I've ever met." She explained.

"I'm going to kill that thing!" She slammed her fists into the table as she sprung up.

"Mom?" Liam reached the bottom of the stairs

"What is it, sweety?" Sheila asked in a honey-coated voice as she ran over to him.

"You seem mad." Liam was suspicious of her.

"Did you know that your brother brought home a human? She's a bad person. She kills wolves and has been torturing big sis Amanda."

"Wrong. If anything Amanda is the bad person. Have you ever seen her!? Have you met her!? No!"

"Do not yell at me, young man!"

"A wolf must have hurt her because she messed with them. She's dangerous." Amanda explained.

"We have to get rid of her before she wakes up but you have to keep this a secret from your brother and father," Sheila added.

"No." Leo refused.

"What?" Sheila was flabbergasted.

"Kellian isn't mean! She's my friend!"

"She was probably just using you. She pretends to be friends with your brother too." Amanda pretended to be worried about Liam being used when she was in fact worried about her newfound plan to kill Kellian being thwarted.

"Why should I believe you?" Liam backed away from her.

"Because I care about my little sister's boyfriend."

"I never agreed to that either! I won't let you control me anymore. You may have given birth to my but you are not my mother." Liam yelled at his mother.

She aggressively grabbed Liam's arm and whispered angrily, "Listen here you little brat I brought you into this world and I can you out just as easily."

Her claws were digging into Liam's arm so he bit her.

"You did not just bite me." She laughed like a maniac. "I'm going to kill you!"

Liam ran. He ran into the room with Kellian and locked the door.

Bang. Bang. Bang. "Open this door right now!"

Liam panted, terrified.

"Sweety. Mommy's sorry. She didn't mean to hurt you. She didn't mean to tell just open the door."

She sounded nice but Liam could still hear her scratching at the door and rattling the doorknob. He had never felt fear on this level before.

"Baby! Please!"

Liam eventually got up, dusted himself off and made up his mind that that woman– no, that serpent was nothing to him.

He ignored her and began treating Kellian's wounds with the things he prepared beforehand.

Sixty minutes pass.

Gentle knocks at the door could be heard.

"Who is it?" Liam asked just to be cautious.

"Amy... I brought food."

"Is the serpent with you?" Liam asked.

"Serpent?"

"The thing that calls itself my mother," Liam explained.

"No. Amanda and her are outside," Amy informed.

He unlocked the door, let her in then locked it again.

"Is this the human?" She tried to walk over to Kellian.

"Her name is Kellian." Liam blocked her and took the bowl of fruit she brought.

"Aren't you leaving?" He asked.

She was offended, "Why would I?"

"You already gave me the fruits. You have no reason to stay." Liam answered.

I do. My boyfriend needs help."

"I am NOT your boyfriend."

"We're going to get married there's no reason to fight it." Amy shrugged.

"Ha! Leave or I'll make you." Liam threatened.

She was surprised, "You'll make me?"

Liam nodded with a serious expression, "Yes."

"I may not be strong but I know I'm stronger than you. She's pretty." She pointed at Kellian behind Liam.

"She is." Liam agreed but didn't take his eyes off Amy.

"If you had to choose one of us to marry—"

"Her." He answered without hesitation.

Amy was pissed, "What!?"

"It's an obvious choice really. Kellian is nice and pretty and I don't like you. At all. I'd rather marry a frog than marry you. So obviously I'd choose her."

"Would you at least be my friend then?"

"I don't know. Right now, no. You're way too obsessed with me marrying you and the serpent and your sister just tried to kill my friend."

"She did not." Amy frowned.

"Then what did she do?"

"Warn you and your mother about the dangers of having a human in your home," Amy answered.

"More like lie through her teeth and infantilize me. Kellian isn't a danger. And even if all they wanted to do was kick her out of the house it would still be murder. Do you see her? She needs supervision and care."

"...Is your hand okay?" She pointed to Liam's arm. He had 5 holes in it and they were still bleeding.

"It's nothing compared to Kellian."

"She doesn't matter! It's been an hour and you're still bleeding! You can die from blood loss."

"Have you SEEN her!? If she's still breathing after all that I'll be fine."

"I can—"

"If you touch me you'll find out if you're really stronger than me." He threathened.

"You wouldn't actually hurt me... Would you?" Amy asked.

"Do you want to test that?" Liam was dead serious.

"Sigh. Fine, Let me help you take care of the human."

"Why should I let you anywhere near Kellian?"

"So you have been keeping me away from her on purpose!"

"It's like you didn't hear the whole your sister tried to KILL her part. I don't trust you."

"What are you gonna do? Starve in here with her?" She yelled. "Besides, she's a girl. Do you plan to bathe her yourself?"

"..." Liam remained quiet.

"You need me." Amy smiled.

"I DON'T need you."

"But she needs a girl to help care for her. This is for her. Bring food and bring clothes for me from my room—"

"What about her?"

"Don't worry about that."

"Are you just going to stay in a room with a naked girl???"

"There are clothes in the closet."

"Oh..."

"Come twice a day to clean her. Once in the morning and once in the evening or night."

"So three meals a day plus snacks for you and clothes for you when I come to bathe her?"

"Yes."

"You're trying to limit my visits!" Amy complained.

"I. do. not. TRUST. you." Liam repeated the words slowly and exaggerated the word trust so she'd finally understand.

"Why not!?" Amy yelled.

"Why should I?"

"Because we're close."

"That was your delusion. I have never and will never like you. And I won't be marrying you either. Even if I did like you, I refuse to be related to your cruel family."

"Jerk." Amy stormed out of the room.

'I need to make a trip to my room for towels and other things. Amy should keep the serpent busy for a while so now is my chance!'

Liam made a quick trip to his room and picked up his blanket, suitcases full of his clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairdryer, hairbrush, towels, all his devices and their chargers and other accessories he deemed necessary.

He then returned to her side, "Don't worry, Kellian. I'll take care of you since the guys aren't here. You'll be safe with me here."

Amy ran straight into her sister's arms crying.

"What's wrong?"

"Liam was so mean!"

"Why does she insisted on ruining everyone's life!?" Amanda exclaimed angrily.

"She was unconscious though."

"But has Liam ever acted like this before?" Amanda asked.

"No... But he said it was all my delusion."

"She told him to say that! She's probably a paedophile."

"...Did she?"

"Yeah we have to get rid of her. Since we can't kick her out we will have to—"

"...Kill her?" Any asked.

"Yes, Exactly!" Amanda nodded.

"What?" Amy was shocked she actually meant that they would end her life.

"Why do you seem surprised? You said it first."

"I didn't mean to..."

"Well, it is our only chance to get rid of her. You earned Liam's trust, right?"

"Barely."

"We could use a quick poison," Sheila suggested.

"What do you have?" Amanda asked.

"Less that thirty minutes. That's the quickest one that leaves no traces."

"If she dies he'll blame us." Amy pointed out.

"With what proof?" Sheila smirked.

"Ryder doesn't trust you or sister either, right?"

"It's fine. Ryder has gotten closer to his father but Tyler still prefers me. He'll believe me over Ryder and Liam."

"But what if they..."

"Don't worry about that. Just do your job." Amanda ordered.

"Of course, sister."

"Good girl." Amanda smiled. "How long will it take to get a couple of bottles?"

"About a week but I have one bottle in the house." Sheila answered.

"Great!"

"All you have to is make her drink the bottle when you're alone with her." Sheila smiled wickedly.

"...Okay."
