Chapter 46 - It Didn't Work

Everyone arrived at the rendezvous point and waited for Jinx.

Ryder was still avoiding Leo.

Jinx arrived and teleported everyone back to Ryder's house inside the room Kellian was staying in by opening up a portal with her staff.

The guys who joined Ryder and Dexter were all shocked. 'She looks almost exactly like her.' was probably going through their heads.

"What are you doing?" Ryder asked, seeing Liam taking a spoon out of Kellian's mouth.

"Feeding her," Liam responded.

"How? You know what, never mind. What are you doing here?" Ryder asked.

"She was almost assassinated by the woman who gave birth to me and your ex-fiancee and her little sister. Multiple times. Father punished them, though, so don't worry."

"I... Alright." He responded. "Jinx, hurry up and make the damn potion." Then immediately ordered Jinx.

'Rude ass kid. You should at least be nice considering I'll be giving that girl you hold so dear a potion you know nothing about.' Jinx smiled. "Of course, it might take a while." She took the ingredients then left.

"Who are all these strangers?" Liam asked after a while.

"People who helped us find ingredients for the potion that'll make Kelly better," Leo replied in a reassuring tone.

Ryder glared at Leo.

"Oh." Liam noticed.

"Why are you mad at Leo, Ryder?" Liam whispered after pulling Ryder away from the group.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Ryder replied.

"You do. You won't even look at Leo, and when you do, you're glaring at him," Liam said.

"It is none of you're business, so just shut your mouth and wait," Ryder said, raising his voice slightly.

"..." Liam stopped talking and continued to feed Kellian pudding.

Feeling the tension, everyone sat there in awkward silence.

Meanwhile, Jinx teleported to her witch hut and began making the potion.

She poured water into a cauldron that sat over a flame. She added salamander blood until the potion turned red. She stirred until the potion turned orange. Then, she put in more salamander blood, this time until it turned yellow. She mixed until the potion turned green, then added more salamander blood until the potion turned turquoise.

She let it heat until it turned indigo, then added more salamander blood until the potion turned pink. She heated it until the potion turned red. She then added five lionfish spines and heated it again until the potion turned yellow. Next, she added five more lionfish spines then flobberworm mucus until the potion turned purple.

She stirred until it turned red and added more flobberworm mucus, this time until it turned orange. Then she mixed until it turned yellow. Then she combined honey water until it turned back to a turquoise colour. And then added another few drops of boom berry juice.

Finally, she stirred the potion again, then let it simmer for thirty minutes. After the time was up, she took the potion away from the flame and allowed it to cool. After that, it was ready for use.

"Okay, boys, it's all done," Jinx said, walking into the bedroom holding the now lime green potion.

"Hurry up and give it to her," Ryder commanded.

"Jeez, so bossy," Jinx said, rolling her eyes.

Jinx gave Kelly the potion.

And after five minutes.

Nothing.

Nothing happened.

"Uh oh," Jinx muttered.

"Uh oh, what?" Ryder asked.

"It didn't work," Lily stated.

"What do you mean by it didn't work?" Ryder asked, not wanting to believe the obvious answer.

"She should have woken up by now... If this didn't work, there's absolutely nothing we can do." Lily explained.

Hearing this, Leo was in shock. Ryder immediately shot Leo a glare, his fists balled and shaking.

"There's got to be something you can do. Kellian is a nice person, so you've got to help her." Liam practically begged.

"There is," Jinx said, patting him on the head with a reassuring smile on her face.

"Then what is it!?" Ryder asked, yelling.

"We can put her out of her misery," Lily said, retaining her smile.

"What!?" Leo yelled.

"...What does that mean?" Liam asked, not wanting to believe what he thought it meant.

"She's never going to wake up, so we might as well just kill her." She said nonchalantly.

"What the heck!? You can't do that!" Liam complained.

Ryder was too mad to say anything, Leo was feeling too guilty to say anything, Dexter never said much from the get-go. And everyone else, well, they didn't even know how to react.

"Do you want her to stay like this forever? I think not." Jinx continued.

"But–"

"But nothing!" She cut Dexter off.

"You there with the dual swords. Give me one." Jinx ordered, outstretching her hand.

Dayn handed her a sword. Jinx took the sword and held it above Kelly's heart.

"Wait! You still can't just kill her!" Leo yelled.

"I can, and I will," Lily said, casting a binding spell on Liam, Leo, Dexter and Ryder to stop them from doing anything.

"No... You can't. You can't kill her!" Leo said, tears streaming down his face.

If looks could kill, Ryder would have killed Leo brought him back to life, just to kill him again. In fact, if Ryder was not bound, he would have tried to kill Leo. Ryder's eyes were once again glowing red, but no one except Leo seemed to notice.

Jinx thrust the sword downwards with full force. Liam, Ryder, Dexter and Leo looked away.

"Gasp!" Lily gasped.

...

The blade had stopped shortly before it pierced Kellian's skin.

Two fingers were all it took to stop all of Jinx's full strength. Jinx was flabbergasted.

"What a way to wake up? Why is the first thing that awaited me death?"

Everyone froze.

"What's going on?" Justin asked, confused.

"Who are all these–"

Before Kellian could even finish her sentence, Ryder, Leo, Dexter and Liam hugged her.

"Hey... I... Can't... Breathe..."

The boys broke away from the hug, and the guys all smiled at the sight.

"Hi, guys. I missed you." She smiled warmly. "Leo... Why are you crying?" Kellian asked, shifting her attention to Leo's wet eyes and pink cheeks.

"It's... Nothing. It's not important right now."

"O-okay? Can someone fill me in on what happened?" Kellian asked.

"..." Leo was quiet.

"..." Ryder was quiet.

"I will," Dexter stated.

"After you saved us, you took all the damage from us, and you were in a coma. We went to get ingredients for a potion to save you. I am guessing we all met some people who helped us and brought them along with us..." Dexter explained, then suddenly stopped talking.

"I can pick up from here. They gave the ingredients to that witch, she made the potion and gave it to you. At first, we didn't think it worked, so the witch was trying to put you out of your misery or something." Justin finished.

"Then, I woke up. I see. But... The potion didn't work." Kellian stated.

"No. It did. You are clearly out of that coma now." Jinx said with a proud smile. It looked fake, but it was hard to tell.

"No. It did nothing because I was never in a coma." Kellian replied.

"What?" Ryder asked, confused.

"What are you talking about?" Lily asked, now visibly angry.

"Maybe it's best I let him explain," Kellian said.

"Who are you referring to?" Dexter asked.

"She's referring to me!" Tyson said as he revealed himself. He was floating right next to Kellian.

"The ghost!" Jinx explained.

"Shut your whore mouth, old hag. I'm not ready for you yet." Tyson spat at the witch. "Anyway, hello everyone! I'm no mere polterguist. I'm a relic, and I belong to Lady Kellian. Lady Kellian isn't a mere human either, as you may have guessed. Some of you may have heard of Lady Lillian. I know you have Katana Guy. You too, old hag, but your opinions are irrelevant. Yeah, so Kellian is her daughter."

"WHAT!?" They exclaimed.

"What are you surprised for 'Jinx'? Isn't that why you tried to kill her?"

"I—"

"You. What?" Ryder was furious.

"Hold off, Alpha pup. I still got business with her. So, have you forgotten how you became Jinx?"

"You thought Lily was too similar to Lillian's name and changed it to Jinx."

Tyson slapped her to the ground.

"Don't let such sacred words leave your lips." He regained composure. "Jinx is quite suitable for you as that is what you are. A curse. One that dares to breathe near me. Obviously, I need to re-educate you."

Jinx began to tremble as she broke out in cold sweat.

"Alpha pup, you have a necklace you use to contact her quickly, right? Give it."

Ryder handed it over.

Tyson sucked her inside. "I'll deal with her accordingly." His smile brought shivers to everyone's spine.

"So... Let me get this straight nothing was ever wrong with Kellian?" Ryder asked, changing the subject.

"Well, she did have her injuries, but that would have healed in no time. I'm sure you notice that little caretaker." Tyson answered

"I did. After a while, the injuries were practically gone." Liam agreed.

"Indeed. And you Alpha pup, the demon kid had nothing to do with what happened. If he had fought back, that would have only made things worse." Tyson said out of the blue, confusing everyone except the two.

"How did you—"

"I spied on all of you because Kellian needed rest." Tyson shamelessly admitted.

"Was she not resting?" Dexter asked.

"No, I had her up practising her abilities. When I finally got her to sleep, I was bored, so I found yall and spied until she woke up."

"Oh."

"Well, she's still not perfect, but she can fight. Anyway, I know you just reunited, and all but, we have a quest to complete."

"What?"

"If you want Kelly to be stronger, we need to find the other relics. They'll really help her, but all we know so far is that they would be scattered across the kingdoms. No two relics would be found in the same kingdom."

"I see. So, we need to get these relics as quickly as possible?" Leo asked.

"Why?"

"So, the attack before was organised, and three main forces combined. I have a strong feeling all three of them will be after Kelly sooner or later, so we need to be prepared."

"That's enough serious talk. I'm tired, so I'm going to take a nap. M'lady, you can handle the rest, right?"

"Yup."

"Great!"
